Isn't Craze a dude? I'm confused...
Also where did you find the script to make a copy of ff5 battle system? Or did you make it yourself? Is not like I want to use it but I like to collect useful scripts; for the lulz basically.

All FF5 characters have busts. Also, it's edited Tankentai. He used his skillz.
Edit, because last post on the previous page:

I really hope that's a test map you made to show off the text box you've shown us before, because that looks nothing like Rei's interesting mapping.
Also, slums (that will eventually have NPCs, but that's Karsu's job):
Again, the MC's charset is temporary. PCs and important characters will all use edited Mac charsets.

Well I never used Takentai LOL. I do have it somewhere on my 'will not likely use' stash though.
Whoa, man. I almost got on your case for posting FF6 screens instead of your own.
THAT'S NOT A SCREENSHOT, KYRSTY!
Not yet, at least =P (Mock-up made in MS Paint). Just making a bunch of different tileset stuff because I wanna do a game with completely original graphics.
I used Ocean's tutorial for the tree because I can't sprite trees. I can't draw trees either -.-.

Yeah, I know. That's not the final version of the map itself, I just wanted to show off the fact that I managed to do the tent thing from FF6. The finished version of the area itself will look decidedly different, although that's a little difficult because that area graphic is extremely uncharacteristic so it's going to be difficult to differentiate it from FF6's actual Imperial Camp.
@Kyrsty: Are you Ocean's sibling or something?
@Mog: I'm not the guy to ask for graphical advice, but maybe changing the color of the sand could help? I dunno; like you said, there doesn't seem to be much you can do with those.

@Chaos: I wish! Is that from the palette I used? I actually created that from scratch and didn't notice the similarity to Ocean's until I compiled it, haha.
@Feldschlacht IV: I haven't played FF6, so I'm just going to say they look awesome. Is there a slope before the tent? Maybe you should use a different ground pattern to define it properly. If not, I'm not sure why it looks like that, it might be just me =/.

I'm so sleepy right now, so I can't offer any feedback at the moment.
This topic could be a nice reference for you though for the treeees.

@Feld >> You could differentiate your area from Final Fantasy VI's by mixing some tiles from external sources or from other areas from FFVI. You could alternatively just do some mild recolouring on most objects (such as the crates, and as Chaos suggested, the sand tile).
@SorceressKyrsty >> Looking great. Though, my only concern is the brighter colours of the trees compared to the darker green of the grass. The trees contrast and stick out way too much. Perhaps make those trunks and foliage on the trees little darker, to make it blend in more? Other than that, I think it is shaping up nicely (I also hate pixelling trees. They are murder).

Yeah, I initially had issues with the tree and then just pushed on with it. I need to learn to scrap it when it isn't working out properly.
I'm going to give that topic Ocean linked a once over (great topic Ocean, many thanks for that ^_^) and see what I can learn from the comments/crits posted there. I have to keep in mind what kind of style I'm going for in the mean time, though...
I can sympathize with the RMXP pixellers for only doing 5 different trees now.
EDIT: Scene with updated trees:

And a from-scratch sprite to make it complete (doesn't look too bad...)

@Kyrsty: the trees definitely look better defined, but the lightest shade of green in the grass really stands out. You may want to tone it down so the ground isn't so distracting. The rest looks great!
The grass looks fine to me. Though, if you must, you could tone the light green of the grass tile a little (make it a little duller).
Some progress from my part. Though what comes to the battle hud, Chaos has more complete version of it with different portraits and transparencies etc.

Looking good so far Rei-. Though the HUD in the battle picture...the faces looks a little squashed together IMHO. Might be just me though.
(Do we get to rename Protagonist, because I initially thought it was a place holder name . I mean, 'Protagonist' is kind of obvious)
I love the cave mapping there, I like VX's mapping when its not so squarish =P.

@Ocean: That links pretty neat. I enjoyed reading through it.
@Rei-: Overall I like the map. The sunbeam is a nice subtle effect and not in your face like some. I wonder if the stairs should extend one tile further down, but I could just be interrupting the map wrong.
Edit: This is what happens when you replace the party with characters with questionable moral standards for the tech demo.

That looks pretty cool racheal, the only thing that bugs me is that all the tileset has a black border, and the characters have colored lines, I think it looks a bit weird but migh be just me...
Very nice Rei, love the cave :)
Here's the first screen of a new project I'm doing, secret of mana style, I've always wanted to make such a game and I started editing a script that plays more or less like I want so I'll try to keep you guys informed :)
