FAMITSU SCORES FINAL FANTASY XIII
Posts
I really don't mind FF XIII and can't wait to get it. I understand how "it doesn't feel like FF," but for a series that long, sooner or later Square Enix would experiment. Game series change so much over time sometimes, it's just a progressional thing so I don't mind it. Just look at KH. It used to be an innocent crossover of FF and Disney, and now it's so epic that Disney is almost out of place (like the 358/2 Days cover. It looks so epic, but when you see Mickey, he looks so out of place there; some kind of reminder like "this is still Disney, bitches!")
The only thing that was good in KH was the Disney aspects. The FF wank was pretty terrible.
As for FFXIII, I think it looks pretty stupid. I find all the character designs as terrible as the rest of Nomura's work. It'll probably be over produced in every possible aspect, killing the majority of its magic. The battle system looks like trash from first look as well.
However, Hamauzu is the main composer for this and I cannot resist his alluring call.

Trash? Nah, I wouldn't say all that. There are a few things I don't like about it, but I wouldn't call it unsalvagable.
Probably because DQ9 looks awesome in every respect.

And Dragon Quest IX got a perfect score. I wonder how that happened...

Professional reviews are worth less than shit; I would have thought the mainstream would have figured this out after the whole IGN fiasco.
About reviews: I guess you guys like to say that game scores are always bought and everything but if you look at the best-reviewed games ever . . .

. . . they are all really good games and I know that some of them are personal favorites of yours, Nightblade Orange Box for example). I think it's disgusting that you guys are so cynical about a hobby you invest so much time and money into (well I guess some of you pirate everything).
Anyway, like Neophyte I'm not afraid to admit that I will buy this as soon as it comes out and like it a lot.

When it comes to Final Fantasy, I have learned to basically judge the games myself. FF12 had massive acclaim... but I was physically incapable of finishing it. It just didn't work for me. Pretty graphics will only hold my interest for so long... I loved the battle system though, but it wasn't enough. I felt the same about FF10 too, but I still managed to get the last dungeon, and probably would've beaten it if it wasn't stolen from me (those bastards!).
So needless to say, I won't be buying this, however FF4, 6, 7 and 8 are among my favorite games ever. I really need to buy FF7 again someday, as that game was immense.

Personally though, I've pretty much given up on official reviewers. When I need to see reviews for a game, I just go to GameFAQs because the reviewers there are for the most part real people. I hardly ever use Famitsu or Metacritic, Game Informer is biased as all Hell, and others I just don't care for. Overall though, I judge games by myself. If a game entertains me, I don't care how crappy the plot or controls or music or etc. is to other people, it was worth playing for me.
And yah, I'll agree that a lot of KH's charm is in Disney, which is why I'm a little scared of the direction it's going in.
And I love DQ and can't wait to play IX.

I think we're talking about the reviews that have non-shitstained perfect scores, not generally positive reviews. Honestly how the fuck do you get a perfect score besides raw biased fandom and wads of green in your pocket?

The only reason metacritic is good is because it includes user reviews and some more obscure review sites that don't take add revenue from the games they review.

The fuck is that supposed to mean? A good game gets good reviews: OH FANTASTIC. Well Modern Warfare 2 blew ass and that got good reviews. An even shorter campaign with a slimed down and hackneyed mutliplayer. GAME OF THE YEAR BRO. Just because well crafted games sometimes get recognition from the mainstream doesn't make them any more reputable.
Borderlands - another shit game that got good mainstream reviews. Shoddy AI (You can kill the final boss by standing behind a pillar and shooting it) - poorly implemented multiplayer, crappy replayability and terrible UI, and a game with a million billion guns with no stash - yays.

Man you are a rough customer! I'm not saying you have to think either Borderlands or MW2 are the greatest games ever, but shit? That's rough. When's the last time you've played a game that was actually shit? I can assure you that neither MW2 nor Borderlands are either.
I like Final Fantasy 13....
But all jokes aside......just look at the lushness of Final Fantasy 13's graphics. They look just like a cutscenes graphics.
I really believe this game will probably be one of the most highest selling games of all time.
Sony should have signed a deal or something with Squareenix to get this game released only on the PS3.
I believe it would boost the playstation three's sales greatly.

I liked Modern Warfare 1 actually, Modern Warfare 2 wasn't *TOO* bad on it's own per-se; but when compared to Modern Warfare 1 - it's ridiculous. No more lean, watered down multiplayer, and even SHORTER campaign for 10 dollars more and paid DLC? GAME OF THE YEAR.
Borderlands passed itself off as a multiplayer online RPG FPS; but the game itself seemed to NOT want people to play together. If you can get through all of the port forwarding garbage you're left with a game that doesn't promote team play. An online game that doesn't even allow you to fight bosses after you've "beaten" the game twice. Character trees were flimsy and uninspired, the characters themselves had the personality of a urine covered brick, but the humor itself was pretty memorable... If you're seven years of age.
