MARREND'S REVIEW THREAD

I might not as a prolific, nor respected, reviewer as Fallen-Griever, or Solitayre, but playing games is just as important as making them. So I've set up this thread to invite people to give me a heads-up on any game that they believe could use some reviewing.
So far I have under my belt:
Breath of Fire - Legacy of the Dragon
Escape From Middle School
Super RMN Bros
Hayate no Gotoku! - Dream Apocalypse
Village Brave and the Escape from Dread Mountain
Poley and Waffle - War for the Wonder Blocks
Fable of Heroes - Legendary Edition
Pokemon Hunter 4
The Astonishing Captain Skull
On the queue:
Vacant Sky Volume 1 - Contention
Outlaw City
Walking Dead
Forever's End
Vindication
Tales From Zilmurik II - Salvation's Aftermath
Deep Fried Questing Grind
Tales From Zilmurik V - Dawning of a Dragon's Valor

First in line!
Pokémon Hunter 4
...or are we supposed to recommend the games of other people and not just our own?

The Astonishing Captain Skull is an adventure game, not an RPG, but give it a shot if you want . . . I GUESS.
Well Outlaw city http://rpgmaker.net/games/758/ is a pretty good game that needs a review.
I'm also wondering how my demo http://rpgmaker.net/games/1336/downloads/2095/ would fare with a reviewer's opinion.. that's totally up to you though
edit: Yeah I had the same problem :S I'll just give the links straight up

@halibabica: Either way is fine. Pokemon Hunter 4 will be placed onto the stack momentarily.
@catmiss: I'll review that, but what all do I need for that game? Do I need Adventure Game Studios itself, or is it a stand-alone?
@StarSkipping: Maybe it's just me, but both of those links are broken. You sure you linked them properly?

only runs on Windows
Unless there's some weird compatibility issue with Windows 7, I should be fine. Seeing as I'm able to open the executable without too much difficulty, I think it's safe to say that we could be in business. However, Pokemon Hunter has a slightly higher priority.
I should probably call it a "queue" instead of a "stack", since it's supposed to be FIFO...
Wow all those games are going to get like 1 and 2 star reviews and everyone's just like "Yeah buddy sign me up" rofl
Yeah. Please don't review my games. I understand where you're coming from, but you'd be surprised at how many people will play/ignore a game -- and even its developer -- based on those stars.
In my opinion, a game should be reviewed based on what it attempts to do. Sol correctly identified what I attempted to do and felt it could have been better. I'm not seeing that with most of these other low-rated reviews.

from StrangeluvI've had my share of awful reviews in the past (I actually got two of them removed today). I'm willing to give anyone a chance.

Anyway, I don't know if you already downloaded the PH4 demo or not, Marrend, but I just updated it with significantly better battle music.
EDIT: I hope that didn't come across as me saying Marrend's reviews are awful. I looked at the list of ones he has up so far, and they weren't incredibly stilted toward lower star counts. I also read one and found it quite fair. So we'll see!
Yes, let's all make sure the person who volunteered to do reviews on a "by request" basis feels bad for what he's doing.
We can get reviews removed? By all means, take some of my low star ones and send them into the ether ;)
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I'm going to request a review on my game Vindication, for two reasons:
1) It has over 500 downloads, but no reviews, and very little discussion about quality or gameplay.
2) I'm in the planning stages of a new game that will be similar in a lot of ways, though the gameplay will be a lot more complex. So I would benefit immensely from any sort of detailed feedback about Vindication.

Well, it depends on the quality of the review. If they're complete and utter garbage that should never have been approved in the first place (like mine were) then you can alert a mod about it.
I also read one and found it quite fair.
I'm curious to know which one you're referring to. For future reference purposes, of course.
FYI: I've already download Pokemon Hunter 4, and have played with it a bit. I doubt the change will make or break the experience, but I might download the later version for completeness sake.

Fixed.
I read your BoF Legacy review and Fable of Heroes (the latter of which I've played myself). You'd do well to proofread your reviews more closely, but otherwise they seem fine. What a lot of people don't seem to get is that you don't need to write monumental reviews like Solitayre for them to be decent and/or helpful. Yours aren't spectacular, but they aren't horrible either.
EDIT: The music does make a pretty big difference, since it's so frequent and the RTP one I used before is just bleagh. If you really don't want to redownload it, I uploaded just the music to my locker here. They have the same names as the originals so they just need copied over.

I've downloaded the locker file after submitting the Pokemon Hunter 4 review and gave the files a short listen. Good job checking my own thread! Anyway, I don't think I would have make any note of the music. I generally don't find RTP stuff annoying or "blah".
The Astonishing Captain Skull looks to be up next.

I would appreciate a review for any of these games, seeing as how I'm currently working on them, to see where I should improve:
Deep Fried Questing Grind - http://rpgmaker.net/games/1883/
Tales from Zilmurik II: Salvation's Aftermath - http://rpgmaker.net/games/1590/
Tales from Zilmurik V: Dawning of a Dragon's Valor - http://rpgmaker.net/games/1254/
I should note that although I've changed the battle characters in DoaDV to a more suitable style, this has yet to be uploaded to RMN, so the demo will still have the old battle chars.
