GAMES THAT HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME?

FFII definitely has not stood the test of time. That game is buggy as fuck.
well, you really cant beat the classics.

could've sworn people hated FFII because of something about attacking your party to overlevel yourself or something.

Never knew what was forcing them to not play it normally.
well, the leveling system was kinda stupid but the game itself wasnt that bad

Because the game was bugged to the point where attacking yourself was often the only way to get stronger.

I mean unless you like dying over and over again to play the game 'normally'. That's always fun!!!

Or just play the sane versions remakes.

(also remember who you are addressing before you claim that dying isn't fun.)
I find the only thing wrong with FF2 is the creepy look of Firion's artwork. His eyes, they dig into your soul.
Dragon Warrior III, IV & VII, Dragon Quest V (DQVI didn't take for me and DQVIII is still a bit recent)

Final Fantasy VI through X (yeah, the last one is a PS2 game- it is going to be 9 years old later this year)

Secret of Mana and SD3, Legend of Mana (why it wasn't SD4 is beyond me)

Almost all the Mario games (Sunshine hit a bit of a lull)

Breath of Fire III and IV (BOF 1 was Capcom's third RPG, I believe- and it shows, and BOF 2 is a bit of a mess)

Castlevania III, IV, SOTN (the first CV is clunky and the second was refined in SOTN)

The Legend of Zelda series (well, except the CD-I games, of course)

And for some reason, Pac-Man, despite being 30 years old.

FFI was basically superseded by FFIII, which was then replaced by FFV. And FFIV is surprisingly harsh to get into nowadays.

yeah i never noticed that. scary... o.0
Standing the test of time =/= nostalgia goggles.
And FFIV is surprisingly harsh to get into nowadays.

I love FF4.

But the fact that it was the first RPG I've ever beaten may have something to do with it.
Age of Empires II for sure. Still playing on Windows 7 with the Palettestealer Suspender app. Works like a f*cking charm.

Age of Empires 2...

Yep i find II to be better than III.

Maybe its cause in 2 ive memorized most of the cheats but in 3 i have to open a word file.

Eternal Punishment is so much better, in my humble opinion. I don't know why people think Innocent Sin is better. It's inferior to EP in every single aspect.

EP doesn't have Hitler. It does have the option to skip animations, which is something, but it's not Hitler.

FF6 is totally great until you get to the World of Ruin and the whole game falls apart. But I guess I'm the only person ever who thinks that 8|
If anything, that's when shit gets real.

About halfway through the tomb of Setzer's late girlfriend Darill (ffs that name)--which was two hours or so (iirc) after I did menial fishing shit to progress the story--I decided that Kekfa destroyed the whole planet and that the game had said BAD END and that was that.

In other words, I prefer a guy named Butts to scantily clad women in steampunkia.

Legend of Mana

yessssss
I'm not even sure why I love it so much, but it's wonderful.
Secret of Mana, however, is pretty weak these days, and I'm always disappointed when I give it a shot because of fond memories and it's just no good.
