I recently realized how fucking weird it was that my own father calls me by my e-mail and AIM usernames. Like, y'know, "oh, hey, Crazetex, why don't you run and get some peanut butter" while we're in a grocery store.

Note that the name started entirely because when I first discovered invisionfree I thought "Crazeye" was clever, but eventually shortened it to "Craze." When "Craze" taken, I append "-tex" because once on Gaming World, Marcus called me "Tex." My father calls me by a name he had no part in creating.

Anybody else have weird histories/real-world connections to their usernames?
This is sort of funny. In real life, when the subject is about real life stuff with friends, I'm always called by my name (or last name). But in real life when my friends are discussing video games, my online game name (in this case, Unexpected Goat) is always used.

Kinda funny.
Hahaha, I hope no one ever finds out my online identity is Little Wing Guy.

No, and frankly I'm glad that I haven't. I remember back in my youth I wanted to go by a name around the house but it didn't really work because I wouldn't answer to it. Though, in 9th grade I went by "Verilo" in a few of my classes.

No one IRL calls me by any of my online names yet . .
My username is a shortened version of a nickname my brother called me. He gave it to me because when we played TimeSplitters 2, I would always play the Monkey...My full nickname is MonkeyKid.

"unexpected goat"

that is a lot of syllables for a verbally spoken name
Unexpected Goat is my Xbox 360 gamertag. Yeah, it's a mouthful but I guess nobody really minds saying the whole thing.

when i hang out with my old mmo guild or my magfest homies, i am known as mistor and finbeard respectively. it's internet names or nobody knows who you're talking about.

even the mmo guild, who all knew each other in real life before we started gaming together. ventrilo ruined normal social interactions for us.
My nick stemmed from recording a song called Knights of the Living Dead. Since it was about undead knighthood and all that, my recording partner introduced me on the track as The Illustrious Duke Doobie G.
It was still a fresh song at the time I joined the rpgmaker community. The Illustrious was the first thing that came to mind when I had to make a user name for the forums. Soon after, I dropped "the" out of the name.

I continued to perform (at local bars) and put out music under that name for some years after.
Lennon actually happens to be my old username. I picked it because I became well known for wearing Lennon shades everywhere I went.

Nowadays I use the name Charles Mugford, or Mugsy, based on this song:

This song and the group that sings it was a big joke around here, and everyone would compare me to Mugsy.
Everyone and his mother calls me by my online name because it's, you know, its my actual real name. Yeah.
All my Super Smash Bros. friends call me by my online name since that's what I use in tournaments at first. I prefer if they started calling me by my real name but oh well.
Everyone calls me by my first name, full name or some odd nickname they personally have for me.
Can't say this has ever happened to me! I'm on a first-name basis with all of my good e-friends, so it'd be kinda weird for my family or flesh-and-blood friends to call me by my internet aliases.
People call me by my username all the time :<

EDIT:
*highfives Aten*
I do not know why chose my name, though I do remember the exact date it was born, August 9th 2006, the day I got my youtube account. I think it was because I was in a good mood that day and because of my connection to Japan (I lived in Japan before and that was before I got into anime anyway)
