FAVOURITE GAMES OF ALL TIME?
Posts
Today i was fairly bored so with my mate we decided to plug in the old nintendo 64. (yeah, that's right) We played games such as Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Donkey Kong etc. It felt great to be playing games that i haven't played in many years.
So, what are your favourite games of all time?
Mine would be Banjo Kazooie and Tooie as they were fun adventure games that really never bored you. Others such as the first Final Fantasies as well as crash bandicoots would also come under my favourites.

I hate myself for selling my N64 for a Gamecube! :'(
Zelda:Ocarina of Time - touched my heart in ways i'll never thought possible, and in other ways that deeply confused me...*link in tights....ahhhh...swing that sword you flirt*
Also:
Final Fantasy 7 - (not a fanboy, but at least 60% that post will have this in their list)
Mario Kart - Not a perticualar version, just a fun game with friends, especially when you lauch that blue shell on that last lap.
Smash Bros - The orignal was the best, can't wait for SSBB
Golden Sun - Something about big explosions and attacks make me go weak at the knees.
So many games and are worthy of being put here, I just can't remember them all XD

Fallout 2
Dragon Quest 8
Those are my two favorite games ever. I've done this a few times at this forum already so I won't explain why in great detail. Basically I like RPGs and I like clever writing and good music and I like exploring and I like stylish graphics and a neat setting and I especially like strategic turn-based combat and crunching numbers and customizing characters and levelling them up. These two games have all of those elements in differing amounts so they totally rock.

Haven't touched any of the earlier legend of Zelda's in ages. Ocarina of time would have to be my favourite out of them. Oh, and smash bros! How could i forget that. 8)
Favorite games, in no particular order.
Donkey Kong Country (great music)
Okami (better than Zelda)
The Way (best story in any freeware RPG ever)
Cave Story (fairly new addition, subject to change)
Super Mario Bros III/Super Mario World II: Yoshi's Island/Super Mario World (TIE!)
Final Fantasy VI (Classic set-pieces, plus Kefka is awesome)
Chrono Trigger (classic)
Then there are a couple I can't quite decide on...
La Mulana (As 1up puts it, "love letter to retro fans, death wish to everyone else")
Odin Sphere (RPG/Brawler/Farming Sim)
Final Fantasy XII (Different!)

Suikoden II - It's just a great game with cute graphics, fun gameplay and great characters and storyline. Just the best. And the bishies don't hurt. ^.-
Breath of Fire II - My first RPG ever, I first borrowed it out from the video store, then my brother and I pooled out pocket money to buy it, then I gave it to him as a birthday present. A few years ago he gave it back to me, to much squeals of happiness.
Lufia II - I could, and have, play this over and over again. The graphics are light and the gameplay is damn good for a SNES game. Add in the 100-floor dungeon and 2x New game +...
Terranigma - Great story and lots of fun to play. It's up there with my faves because, well, it's just fun!
Secret of Evermore/Mana/Suiken Densetsu - The threesome that rocks the RPG world and is so worth playing. I'd count Illusion of Time/Gaia, but I didn't like it quite so much.
My favourite games are mainly RPGs, most on the SNES. Funny, that.
Mario All Stars - A plumber with a pipe fetish. What's not to love? Go Luigi!
Game of Life - It's on my mobile and I play it all the time. ^.^

Chrono Trigger- I must of beat this game like 13-15 times, Really addictive with a great plot.
A Blurred Line- My favorite home brew game. An Excellent story with my favorite villain, ever. Such a shame we have to wait 5-6 years for a conclusion. Maybe even more.
Final Fantasy VII- I don't care if it's 'over-rated' or not, it's still my favorite in the series.
Super Metroid- I'm not a huge fan of Metroid, but the games FINAL boss and ending really won it for me.
F.E.A.R.- An atmospheric FPS with an AI that is near perfect and a just right difficulty.

Final Fantasy VI is the correct answer. After that, it's a mixture of Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario 64.
I'll list two games from each console I've played.
snes- EVO and Seiken Densetsu 3. Metroid prime 3 and F-zero are close runner-ups.
N64- Ocarina of time goes without saying. But I liked Banjo-Kazooie and Battle Ogre; "Something about the princely something", particularly.
PS- Silent Hill and Chrono Cross, although Final Fantasy Nine is pretty high up there.
PS2- Katamari Damacy and Soul Calibur 3, because I can't choose between franchises and I'm a sucker for fighter games, old-world adventure and flashy graphics. Some of the characters got annoying, though. Silent Hill three was great, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather play the first game.
GCN- Pikmin, and.... hmm.... Metroid Prime. I liked Wind waker and Twilight princess and all, but I think the other games deserve it more.
I don't own any next-gen consoles, and I never played a game on a hand-held system that really stood out to me. And yes, I played Golden Sun.
I didn't like it.

The writing was good and for the most part, it was worth the time. But the lack of direction was ridiculous. Twice I ended up two dungeons ahead of where I should have been, not to mention the twenty-or-so minutes of gameplay it would take to get back to where I was supposed to be.
Play it if you want, but make sure you don't wander off to the earth temple before you're supposed to. You'll have to go through hell to get back.
Augh, and how could I forget PC games!? I feel horrible.
I'll have to list three here.
1- Princess Maker 2000. Don't look at me like that, it was awesome. It combined many different aspects of gameplay- it's one of the few games I've experienced that I can actually say felt completely... complete. I can't think of anything that could have been done to improve it.
2- The Longest Journey. The characters were so real and the universe so intriguing, I was left hungry for more. I'm going to get my hands on the sequel as soon as possible.
3- Majesty. It's old, it's small, it was ten dollars at best buy. Best ten dollars I've EVER spent in my life. Countless hours of fun building my kingdoms and beating the objectives- and when I was feeling a little quieter, I could simply open up a freestyle map and watch my empire grow. I'm sad that I can't find anybody who plays it, I'd love to try out the online multiplayer option.
(Sorry for hijacking my reply to your post with all this.)
Yeah, I've heard good things about The Longest Journey. But not liking Golden Sun? The common argument is that the story is really cliche, etc., but I've never heard of anyone getting lost...
I'd probably list Pokemon Gold/Silver up here as well, actually. Fond memories of buying the Japanese version and stumbling through with a level 8 or 9 Hinoarashi. Yeah, Gold and Silver had the best starters ever.
: Oh, and Shadow of the Colossus. Nothing else like it.

Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Fire Emblem 4.
Final Fantasy 4 was a gift along with my first SNES console from my father at a very crucial juncture in our family life, (I was 12ish and parents had just divorced) and he watched me play it through about half way, reading the guide as I progressed. It has an extremely special place in my heart.

I tried playing Golden Sun. I turned it off about an hour later. I found it rather painful.
As for some of my (many) favorites in no particular order:
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Valkyrie Profile
Command & Conquer
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment
Suikoden 5
Gunstar Heroes
Shadow Hearts 2
Castlevania: SotN
God of War
Phantasy Star IV
There's plenty more, some that I like more then those on this list, but I could go on for at least 50 more, so I'll stop where I'm at.

Has the world gone mad?
I don't really like Golden Sun either. It has a lot of interface flaws and attacking a dead enemy resulting in defend is bullshit that was okay back when Final Fantasy I came out.

I understand what you mean. The Golden Sun games were really enjoyable to play. I used to have a site where you could download all of it's great music but i can't remember what it was.
I enjoyed Golden Sun, but it was not the classic it could have been.
My favorites include(but are not limited to):
Chrono Trigger/Cross
Earthbound
Super Mario World
Shadow of the Colossus
Zelda(Any of them really)
Super Metroid
Bioshock (It may be just a current fave, but I love the story and characters)
And more I am sure.
