@Lockez : Thank you for your feeback and indeed I don't have a lot of choice with the rpg maker vx ace's tileset. I will probably do parallax mapping in the futur.
@Yuna21 : your sprite is nice but chibi style feet better with the rtp style tileset in my opinion. You're a good mapper, I've seen your tutorial but I couldn't achieve the same result as you.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

author=yuna21Just a little sprite of Laine based off the Phantasy Star 4 sprite. Thinking of whether to use it or stick to the chibis...
It looks good in the cave, but when you get to manmade locations you will need to make your own sprites for all the manmade objects and buildings, otherwise they'll be the wrong size. I like it a lot but it's going to be a lot of work.
author=yuna21Oooh, I really like this! Then again, I'm just a fan of massive sprites. @___@Just a little sprite of Laine based off the Phantasy Star 4 sprite. Thinking of whether to use it or stick to the chibis...
I'd say to keep going with it, but I defs gotta give you warning: original sprite bases take a lot of time. Like... lots and lots and lots of time. Not only do you have to sprite the main party, but you also have to sprite every single NPC and maaaan that stacks up. @__@ Also, as LockeZ said, you will have to do some tile edits to get everything in proportion.
However! If you're okay with doing lots of sprite work (it can get a little overwhelming, but it's soooo worth it in the end), definitely go for it. There are a few shortcuts you can take that are way worth it, and after you've made a few NPCs, the process really starts to speed up!
First thing I'd suggest is fiddling with sprite heights to make her a little shorter -- if you can make her around the same size as a Mack or XP sprite, that leaves a lot of tiles still open to be used! Also, making a sprite base to work off of helps a lot -- it looks like you sprited Laine right off the bat...? Working off of a base makes the process quicker -- that way, you don't have to start right from scratch every single time. :3
Also, spriting every bit of clothing (even the parts that'll be covered up by vests and stuff) is a good idea, because the more pieces you can reuse, the better. And speaking of clothing, don't be afraid to leave out bits and pieces! If you look at old SNES sprites (particularly the ones in Final Fantasy games), the costumes have been waaaay dumbed down for the sprite forms.
But yeah -- depending on how much stuff you wanna redo, either stop now and get alllll the sprites outta the way, or save it for the next game (and there's no shame in that. ;w;).
Currently coding in Weapon Bless after finally getting it to work, then realizing this is gonna take a long time to do (at least less than a week or so), and realizing he still has Status Bless to do which will be even longer...then coming up with the brilliant idea of having an Armor Elemental Bless and Armor Status Bless (which will take arguably less time to do). @_@
Learning how to use game maker. Fun stuff, but I'm having a tough time learning how to code with it.
Working on the third last (!) mandatory dungeon in Blackmoon Prophecy. I'm at the point where I have to start thinking, "Okay, it's time to start throwing the REALLY notable recurring items and monsters out there" as I work on it.
I'm a bit puzzled for what to do for a puzzle (haha) in this dungeon and I've been drawing blanks each time I try to come up with a fitting one.
Anyone have any ideas for a dungeon that uses an environment similar (but not identical) to this part of FF4? http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/1/1d/Lunar_core_2.png

Suggested puzzle: PUSH BLOCKS OUT OF THE WAY
wait, no. shit.
Actual suggested puzzle: something where there are beams of light and you have to rotate some mirrors and/or prisms to get them to shine in the right places. Seems to fit in nicely with the glass floor environment.

I am a dumb man, so figuring out how to do that will probably consume an hour or two of my time. I like the idea though, so maybe I'll look into it.
Pushing blocks around is one that I don't want to do, haha. I already used it before in two or three caves. I think I'll have the block pushing make an epic return in the final dungeon since I plan on throwing just about everything vaguely resembling a puzzle from the rest of the game into that one dungeon when I get to it.

Ugh, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to create my main city as one huge map, or small sections with transfer events. I'd like some opinions if you guys have one.
I have to pixel draw clothes... Even on a small 30x40 portrait, it's quite hard to get a satisfying result.
author=DojWell bigger gives more the impression that is a BIG city than in section and its more confortable for me, sections is to make divisions of the city like a comercial zone and a town zone etc... but as section you can manipulate more chipset, sooo that is my opinion XD

Beginning to convert my project from VX to Ace. Loving the new tileset options, especially that you can set a tiles passability to bush or ladder instead of needing events to do it. Not excited about needing to find new scripts.
Jumping straight into making the Ace competition game, so I'm making faceset edits so they fit with my characters.
God I missed this character <3

Converting RM2K(3) REFMAP chips for VXA use. Not much to see yet, but it's a start; the square-ness of that test map, if you're wondering, is because I was checking to see if VXA auto-tiled the chips correctly.
By the gods do I hate VXA's auto-tiling system though.
Also wondering if I should keep the Kaduki / VXA RTP charasets or not for serious game making, they don't look out of place at all for some reason despite being twice as much higher resolution.
Looks nice. Although the charsets do stand out.
Guess I won't be getting Ace, I absolutely hated the mapping-system in the demo

Lol (I love this):
So it takes about 3 weeks to make all the images for one custom menu, but only about 3 days to actually code the fucker? What the hell...
These are some of the many reasons why I hate doing this shit...
Oh, and working on more menu stuff. :P

Just got done converting town01_a and town01_aa of the RM2K(3) REFMAP chipsets and the above is the result, I'd wager it looks beautiful.
Got plenty more to do from where this came, though. (屮゜Д゜)屮
