Edit like 5 hours later: Working on converting my resources from 2k3 to VXa and stuff.
Still coding mah life away as per usual~ Gonna be probably skipping working on Armor Status Bless after finishing up Armor Elemental Bless, then put in any remaining abilities I want if I can decide on them, and then do the grand copy/paste/edit on my monster groups about 400-500 times, and then take a nice, decent break from working by doing what I do best when not working on RPG Maker 2k3...working on making videos. @_@

Anyway just realized that I screwed up my 24-hour clock code, would've been major if I'd continued with it and made the HUD based on the faulty stuff but it's early days so I can just go back and edit it.
I added a comment at the top of the common event to remind me of this failure and to make sure I don't do it again!

I gave into the obvious game dev solution and implemented a crate push puzzle in the storage room. Trying to think of one or two slightly more inspired puzzles before I wrap up this dungeon :-)
I am trying to improve my rm2k3 ABS.

Duplicate battle animations for enemies. @_@ ...You see, I had to move the graphics of the default rm2k3 battle system a bit to the right so the dumb floating command menu didn't overlap the enemies. But now, battle animations that are just mirrored on the screen look a bit 'off' when cast by them. So now I have to make a duplicate of each magic and painstakingly move each and every frame in them, one by one... Why, God? Why did you made me this smart? xP

@Rebezion: I find so many numbers and pop-up messages flying around the character to be very confusing and a bit useless; Why do I need a message to tell me I'm throwing a fireball when I can see the damn fireball with my own eyes? ...If anything, let the character breath a little more. Display spell names at the very top of the screen. HP gained right next to the HP bar, and stuff like that. After all, when I'm hacking and slashing away, all I care for are two things: How much damage I'm making and how much damage I'm taking.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I seriously don't see what the big deal about the numbers are. They're fine from the way I'm looking at it. But to be honest you shouldn't even be paying attention to the numbers. Only your HP. I'll agree that the ability names could be arranged a little but that's it.

Good job, Rebezion. That ABS is looking really nice.

Trying to find out from the depths of nowhere how to translate 2k3 Autotiles over to Ace!


I decided to make this for absolutely no reason. It's a sprite of the main character of Exile's Journey. It was mostly just an exercise in spriting, though, because this graphic will never appear in the game.
Implemented another puzzle into the current dungeon. It's a keypad for opening one of the gates in the dungeon. If I can come up with one more, my puzzlelust will be sated.

Converting literally, all of the refmap character sets from 2k3 to VXa. I'll probably host them in the resource museum once I'm done to save everyone the hassle if they plan to migrate 2k3 character set graphics.
FINALLY done with Armor Elemental Bless! Hurray!!!

Next up on my agenda is setting up the rest of the secondary Command abilities, testing them out, and then going from there. Problem is, I need someone to brainstorm ideas with for setting up abilities! I already got a Sacrifice command (same as the Sacrifice skill in FFIX), a Threaten command (chance of forcing target to flee, get 10% of target's EXP/Yen, but higher chance to get enemy's Item drop), and a Focus command (increases a variable by 1 each use, up to 8. If user uses the Attack command after Focus, then user attacks X amount of times, where X = Amount of Focus charges, which then reduces the Focus charges back to 0). Not sure what else to add in! Armor Status Bless will wait until later, as will special states (temporary Physical Resist Up armor, temporary Critical% Up/Slash-All/Ignore Defense weapons for each Stance move for a character, etc. etc.).


Man, I knew my game was gonna be huge, but this is much bigger than I thought! Was hoping to get a patch out this weekend or next but not sure if I'll be able to manage that! Must find brainstorming buddy! @_@
Indeed, those are nice looking, but I want to keep my 2k3 graphics because they literally have more graphics than VX(a) does for that style. Plus I'm literally migrating my 2k3 graphics to Ace. :D

I've already got that set downloaded + a few custom edits already, because I plan to use it for Volume 2 of my project.

Using 16-bit graphics in VX/XP doesn't actually bother me at all (even though using 8-bit graphics does, probably as a direct result of how old I am). Just stay consistent. Find a 16-bit font (recommend this site, I use the Chrono Trigger font at 24-point size) and use a 16-bit windowskin.
The worst is when people use 16-bit sprites with the default RMVX tilesets, or vice versa. Uggghhhh.

If you were referring to me, the tile set is just an example.

I know, and I don't plan to mix VX with 16 bit graphics. I've just been reformatting the 2k3 tile sets but I'm trying to get the auto tiles right. I can't say its easy but I'm doing well so far.

@LockeZ: Good advice. I'm trying to convert one of my 16 bit windows from 2k3 to Vx format at the moment.
I have two more rooms to design (one of them a boss room) and then the first dungeon is finished! Wooh!

After that, it'll just be a matter of a couple of cutscenes and that'll wrap up the first chapter of the game. Then I *might* be ready to release a demo.
