I've been making some animations for RMN Doomcastle and it looks fine i guess thanks to xenomic's magic exhibitions videos they're really helpful..

Yeah, I've used Xenomic's animation compilations to study RPG animations more than once XD

A month late, but people are actually using those vids for studying? Well, at least they're being used for something useful in that regards! I'm planning on redoing the ones for FFVII maybe, but haven't fully decided yet. Not too many FFs for me to do these kinds of videos on anymore >_<
The major thing I've done this week is add pitch-shifting to my audio module. This short clip shows how NPCs can have different voices, and also how the rain loop is pitched down when entering a building. The slight oscillation in the bleeps and boops is random, but is seeded by the text of the chatbox, so the pitch will fluctuate the same for the same text. The audio was captured at a very low volume and I'm too lazy to correct that, so you'll probably have to turn it up.

Clip (0:31)

Smaller thing I did was to add particle/sprite emitters to maps. I always had the object, but I was using it for spell animations. Now an emitter can be placed directly on a map, as shown by smoke sprites coming out of the chimney.

I've also added more complex tile-passability rules, though that isn't showcased in the video at all. Basically, instead of a tile simply being tagged as impassable, I can set whether or not it can be passed from the left or above, etc, kind of like how RPG Maker does it. I was just annoyed that you could climb into a bed by walking through its headboards.

Jude, looking (and sounding) cool. You still using PyGame for the basis of your engine?

Kind of, except I'm using Pygame_SDL2, which is an implementation of Pygame created and maintained by the RenPy developer. I've migrated everything but the audio stuff, which still uses regular SDL, because it isn't perfect yet. However, everything still uses software surfaces and blits. At some point, perhaps this summer, I'll be migrating the graphics to hardware textures and renders.

I wrote the pitch-shifting in C, though. Basically I stretch the signal and do some fourier transforms to clean up some of the interference, then just resample it to the desired pitch. More or less.

Had to reset my computer twice! Ended up having to rebuild the entire Ara Fell Trailer so we can do our press release this week!

@Jude whoa that's look pretty sweet keep up the great work!
Waiting for my hired CG artist to send me the files so I can release the next version of my demo.
In the mean time I am designing maps for the full version that I won't be adding in the demo, since it's better than sitting idle at least, I guess...

Jude, that's really cool. I'd like to move to a big boy engine someday so I could do cool stuff like that.

...for now though, this is my life:

I'm slowly crackin' away at BOSSGAME dialogue! I think I'm gonna force myself to go to sleep early and wake up at 5:30 until I get this playtest and this game out the door!

Neat. Is this open source or do you have a code snippet or something? Haven't thought of procedural audio stuff before.
"nearly" finished village...

I am working on new rooms.
Looking good reb.

Working on the Jackets gun ability. (Similar in use to links bow and arrow) (except this works on touch encounter enemies)

Working on my first RPG Maker VX Ace game.

It's an adventure game with a huge focus on story. My biggest influences are the Silent Hill games and all the classic Lucasarts point-and-click adventure games (Monkey Island, Zack McKracken, Maniac Mansion, Loom, etc).

It's a game I've been thinking about and planning for years, but I just started actually building it in the last few months.

I want it to be 100% unique. Therefore, I am doing all the tilesets and art myself so it is taking quite a while, but I can't wait to release it! Aiming for a playable demo by November 2016, so still about 6 months out. Giving myself plenty of time to really make it shine.

It's definitely a lot of work! But I love every minute of it.
What I've been working on recently:

Sprites:

Face Busts:

All are custom resources for a game I'm planning on doing with 2k. But first, I need to worry about my other game in Ace.
(I'm new here by the way.)

Recently, I've started development on a completely original project: Undivided.

The full name is Undivided: The Deprived 5.

The summary of the story if you care to read it—

Majheik Arkanjl, as a child, wanted nothing more than to be a hero, as most protagonists do. He trains day and night with his childhood friend/ magician, Vallien Enzisio, and his two teachers, Akatsuki Tekaro and Nanuroba Kaliu, to learn not only the secrets to swordsmanship, but to magic as well.
Unfortunately(And logically), his training is cut short when the army of a man named Zetsuro (The first member of the Deprived 5, an orginazation hell-bent on preventing something called the Revival, which I'll explain later) attacks the village Majheik lives in. Majheik, Vallien(Vall for short), Kaliu, and Akastuki fight against him, but lose. Majheik is captured and killed by Zetsuro, and Vall and the others go into hiding. Vall promises he'll avenge Majheik and trains even further with Kaliu and Akatsuki.
Years later, Majheik suddenly reappears and explains to Vall what he learned while he was absent. The two come to the conclusion that in order to find out more about The Revival, they must reach the leader of the Deprived 5, named Akuma Devisi.
Majheik and Vall go and gather many other heroes, (of whom I'll list down below) to defeat the six members of the Deprived 5.
At last, Majheik and team reach Akuma, who explains The Revival.

"Ah, The Revival, yes. Majheik, should you not know already of The Revival? Seeing as you are a part of it, one would think you'd know all there is to know. Well, since you seem clueless, I guess I'll explain... The fusion of two beings into their original form... You and I, Majheik... We are one, but yet two separate individuals. We are destined to be one man, strong enough to destroy the fabric of time itself... Arkuuji Katsuzasu. The man meant to end all existence."

Of course, eventually they fuse, and defeat Inushi, the final boss of the game.

There's way more detail, but that's the basics.

I'm making it in RPG Maker VX Ace, and if there's any people who would like to help see this project through to the end, message me or something and I'll basically interview you to see if you can help me out.

I have the full character roster available too:

Majheik Arkanjl
Vallien Enzisio
Aliana Orito
Miyuki Aoiro
Etzol Hikurii
Rin Kariimoto
Noel Tomasel
Nanuroba Kaliu
Akatsuki Tekaro
Akuma Devisi (Only for the last few chapters of the game)
Arkuuji Katsuzasu (Only for the last fight in the game)

What I need is a Graphic Designer to help with sprites, a few voice actors if possible, people who can help out if I screw up on making the events

I have a writer or two helping with dialogue but it'd be nice for help in that, and I have composers, myself and a friend.

Anyone who wants to help out in something not clearly listed, message me with whatever it is you think you can do to help.

I myself am looking forward to seeing this project completed, and I'd appreciate suggestions and/or help on Undivided.
I'm glad you've got the important stuff all figured out

edit: sorry that was unwarranted, but to be more useful, I think the 'project help' blurb from the sticky might be helpful:

If you are requesting for someone else to help you make a project:

If you have just joined this site and do not know anyone, chances are that people are not going to respond to requests to make a project with you. Most people here are very busy with their own projects are not going to accommodate a random person they do not know. Your best chance is to network; get to know people, make friends, express interest in other peoples' projects, and provide feedback. Once people know who you are, they are much more likely to respond amiably to your requests, especially if you have done something to help them in the past.

Good luck on your project!
I'm working on my first game. Fighting with music will be a major theme.

This is looking good, Rebezion!

I'm glad more people are working in the flat side-scroller RPG style.

Segue, so am I! XD

Okay, a little update on some sprites that I posted up here several days ago:

Is it just me, or do the sprites look smaller and different? :P

NOTE: the face busts require a bit of shading still, despite the 8-bit feel to the characters.

Tell me what you think!

Looks good!

I like what you're doing with the colored names. Would it look good if the first letter and underline were the brighter colors and the following letters were darker? At a quick glance it looks like you have a character named aleb. XD
