Fighting games, as in, competitive fighting games that take experts literally years to dismantle them and chart out ways to win against all manner of playstyles and thinking patterns, like Street Fighter IIIrd Strike or Virtua Fighter are probably the most psychological genre of video games out of all of them.
wrong
But I digress! If you want to continue this conversation (and I'd be happy to, I love talking about fighting games let's do so in this topic

Street Fighter is a rehash series, that uses almost all the same moves from day one so you can button mash.

Well then, I don't feel quite so bad anymore.
Well, on the topic of Mortal Kombat, I owned a copy of the original back when I was four I could make it to Goro just by button mashing and crouch punching/kicking. Now I own Deception and Armageddon, and it's a lot hard to win via those strategies.
EDIT:: Alright then, probably a good idea.

Anyways, back on topic, anyone feel like giving me a quick rundown on the situation at hand? From what I've managed to take in from the previous posts, it sounds like, for the most part, people are being discouraging and are not being nice when it come to reviewing/talking about games. Am I on the right track?
That's basically it, Scarvy. not entirely just that, but that is a problem.
People started making "comedy reviews" which for the most part only insulted the game it was reviewing.
As funny as they were, I think it started to get under peoples skin.

Pretty much
but it often happens when someone misunderstands what someone else is saying
or simply doesn't understand them
or they just want to be an asshole
of there are a few main people who do this(Jericho and others)

Alright, I get the idea.
I enjoy comedy reviews to an extent, but I can see how they could easily get out of hand. I personally don't think I would enjoy someone trashing my games (Haha, what games?) just for a couple of laughs.

I don't do comedy reviews. Although I know comedy reviews are irritating. But if a game lasts 5 mins... is it even worth a 15 min review? Demos are understandable... if... they got demo in the title of the game but.. if its not a demo... but its 5 mins of gameplay.. what good is it to even review that game? Some very good 5 min games out there probably but... do I want to play a 5 min game? Nope. I do agree people need encouragement... from the right people...
I'll be completely honest, I forgot about the Misaos until the topic showed up with the results. Part of this is my fault 'cuz I remember seeing them near like, August, but I didn't vote then because I wasn't sure. If it's possible though, maybe in December we could post a giant flashing neon sign that says "VOTE YOU JACKASS" on the front page so I can remember?
sorry :( i am a bad citizen
sorry :( i am a bad citizen
umm...we did.
I made a topic here in site feedback, and pinned it to the frontpage AND pinned it under headerbar (by the Important!)
I suppose we could have done more, though. We were still way low on our voter turnout. :/
