Ok, so I am using the program Rpg Maker XP. I need some advice as to how to have a second character follow you around the map. I would prefer if you could also walk through second character. Hopefully, there is a fast and easy process for this.

Find a "Caterpillar" script. Should be incredibly easy with some googling
Does this character follow you everywhere you go?
Like to other maps you teleport to?
if so, that is abit more difficult to do(atleast for me) because you have to have the character following you reoccur on each map.
but for starters you can set the event to "Follow Hero" set him to be "Below Hero" and maybe set his movement to ignore impossible moves
but honestly, I'm sure someone can come along and explain this much better than me
and be much more helpful.
XP isn't my favorite program.
EDIT: Yeah, Versalia beat me to it.

Yeah, but I need XP for the games sequel. Then VX for the sequels sequel.
I tried the "Follow Hero" and strangely enough, he ran around in random circles while coming at me at the same time. Which would be fine but I would like him to kind of not move when I don't move, and of course, stay behind me 100% of the time. Hopefully this doesn't require some kind of weird switch.

What are you talking about? I can't make sense of this.
You need two different caterpillar scripts? You can find both.
No, I thought there was away to do it without the script. Because in Rpg Program 2003, I can get the co-player to follow just fine without scripts or switches. Is the only way to do this with XP is by scripting? Because i don't want to have to script multiple times for like 2 characters.
Actually, I now have a new question. If I use the caterpillar script, the party member(s) follow you. My problem with this is say that you don't want the player to follow you until a certain point in the game? Then what do you do?

I am no scripter, in fact I know nothing of RGSS2 (or whatever it's called) but I have heard of something called a call switch. A switch you can turn on to activate a script or deactivate it. maybe someone could elaborate on this?

You are using the Caterpillar script for XP right? Here's your answer:
http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/22121/t1268929-how-to-activate-caterpillar-script/
That will tell you how to activate, and deactivate the script at your leisure. I hope that answers your question.
Thank you, this solved many problems. I'm new to XP see. I never really used it. Their tilesets seemed to small to me.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

You can actually do caterpillars in RMXP the same way as in RM2K3, it's just that it involves a million events and can still cause all the same problems as it causes in RM2K3, so using a script is better.
Is there really only one caterpillar script for XP? I assumed there would be dozens upon dozens of them. In which case, how to turn it on or off depends on which one he's using.

Hmmm...good point there. Raekwonthecheif, make sure the Caterpillar script you've got is the same one that they're speaking of in the link I gave you. Just check the code against what they're saying, and that should tell you if you've got the same or a different one. Honestly, I have no idea how many Caterpillar scripts there are out there for XP so you would do well to check it out for yourself. Trial and error, to me at least, is usually the best teacher. :)
