REWARDS FOR GOOD BLOG POST.
Posts
hiatus posts are just a transparent cry for attention. lazy people flake out and stop working on their games but still want the satisfaction/egostroke of a few people posting NOOO I REALLY WANTED TO PLAY THIS / YOUR GAME LOOKED SOGOOD WHAT A TRAGEDY. there is no purpose for it other than letting people know they should be disappointed

This is just silly.

They can change the project status to "Hiatus". If you're interested in the project, you might notice the status change on the game profile...
Will that be posted to my Notices if I'm subscribed to the game? Because if simply changing the project status doesn't update a game I am subscribed to, then I wouldn't be obsessively checking that game every day for updates. If it does then this is a nonissue `-`
Anyway this whole Blog-gate is so very petty though I completely agree that certain blog posts are just ridiculous.
why is it silly
this is just silly. and now i am going to tell you why. if you are subscribed to a game you don't have to check it obsessively for updates, your notices will tell you when it updates. if it goes on hiatus it won't be updates anymore, which means nothing will appear in your notices.

If people are disappointed about a game going on hiatus, they're going to post "Oh nooo" posts anyway - probably because they're, you know, interested in the game.
The same thing is going to happen whether or not someone posts a blog update about it, and it almost invites MORE questions to simply change the production status and not make any comment about it either way. You may as well just call updating any game in any way a cry for attention

I would prefer to be informed formally by the developer(s) that the game is going offline, rather than them disappearing off the face of the earth and be left in neverending suspense and waiting.
author=KingArthurI'm guessing you don't quite get it, most blogs are things like that: http://rpgmaker.net/games/2842/blog/4294/The blog post is concerning the development of a game, not "brb" or "eating doritos", I personally don't see a problem there.
you don't see the problem with making an update to alert people that future updates are coming when there is a limited amount of space on the front page

I am posting to alert you that when I have completed thinking out what I want to say, I am going to respond to this post

Is there a problem with letting people know in advance that big, nice things are coming their way? I don't.
why even do that. do you really need to be teased before breath of fire 2 remake puts out screenshots. is that really necessary. and yeah there is a problem with it and the problem is limited amount of space on the front page.

I agree.

I would rather just have those things than shiver in anticipation
why is it so important to be in the front page all the time?
forgive my naiveté for asking...
I can always be alerted of the interesting games I'm following thanks to my subscription notices, isn't that what they're for?
but, having said that, some kind of reward for 'cool' blog posts can be a nice thing, but it creates a new problem (who is to decide what is 'cool' and what is not?)
EDIT: damn, what have I gotten myself into? :p

However, there is no problem associated with a blog post as long as it's something regarding the development of the game the blog is about. TFT made a case of many blog posts being along the lines of 'brb, eating doritos", which it is not.
Your allegation that limited space on the front page is a problem is completely independent of "quality" blog posts and should be handled as such. Why not just pull more blog posts to show on the front page if we're that concerned about blog posts getting kicked from the front page "too soon"?
author=KingArthurobviously every word/sentence is to be taken literally.........................
TFT made a case of many blog posts being along the lines of 'brb, eating doritos", which it is not.
If a one line sentence in a blog post really bothers everyone so bad, just don't comment.
Don't have to be a jackass, just let it go.
It is not like the blog post disappears into nothingness when it leaves the front page.
Those who are subscribed will be informed, and those looking at the game page will see the blog.
I understand everyone wants theirs and their butt buddies game/blog on the front page, but come on guys.
Also, a reward system for blogs is the most fucking retarded idea ever.
Do we get rewarded for posting nice images? or posting nice comments? no, so why blogs?

yes, it's fucking stupid. i apologize for trying to suggest something that might be somewhat helpful to the site. can you ever forgive me, infectionfiles?
sigh.

Perhaps imposing a minimum character limit on blog posts is a step in the right direction? Or not. I know it's not something that will eliminate fruitless blog posts, but maybe it's a start. There is already a minimum character limit on reviews, so why not blogs? Just a suggestion.

I'm sorry I actually read what was written in the original post.
I like the minimum character limit on blogs! I think it would eliminate "dorito? run!" or "wow brb" blogs from appearing at all. What would be an appropriate limit so the blog doesn't become paragraphs or just an huge amount of text? I think the limit should be eighty words. That would at least be a paragraph, right?
