Thank you for the feedback. I 'll consider making changes for that area. :)

It's sort of a big open empty platform, I'm not sure why a classroom would have a huge open space like that, usually they are pretty compact.

Open ? No, that 's how most typical classrooms are set up. There are also closets, boards, and windows behind. :P

Oh by the way, my game has been approved with download link. If anyone is interested, feel free to try. :D

teleportation is neat don't you think?

I'd say "wow! nice map!" except it's literally just Mother tiles. People will love it because MOTHER TILES, OMG, EARTHBOUND CHANGED MY LIFE, IT'S COOL TO LIKE EARTHBOUND RIGHT and, I mean

you ripped some graphics nice job A+
wow really? theres a ton of original tiles in there. The whole church, the trees, the water tower and strip mall idea. It IS for an earthbound game, and t actual he only thing I RIPPED straight from the game is the roads.

Constructive post, craze. You can comment on layout of map, and the way tiles are used, palette, and general concept/atmosphere created.

it looks like earthbound
its an earthbound fan game. I didn't "literally" rip the tiles.

I'm glad it looks like earthbound. nice post A+

I like it, Dookie. And I never played earthbound. The person making graphics for my game chose the same kind of style xD but my game is not related to Earthbound in any way. Is that supposed to be leaves piling up in the streets? It looks weird.
link- i was going for like...raked up leaves in piles for collection. maybe i can illustrate that better. thanks for actually commenting on the mapping.

craze- no offense but I expected a better attitude about using rips from you. I've been looking through some games you developed and...if you put them all side by side they all look like the EXACT same lifeless game.

(all screens credited to craze)
and despite this i bet they all have some flair of individuality to them. you should know its the context and how they are used not just the tiles themselves. maybe you've forgotten that riding your high horse for so long though ; )
Should there be that many leaves in the street though? There is only a light sprinkling of leaves elsewhere. Anyways, if I was going to leave piles it wouldn't be on the road where they can get hit by cars heh
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

@Dookie: Haha, Craze just hates mapping so much that all his areas these days look like bomberman stages. You picked some of his nicer/older ones.

I will say that preferring mediocre RTP maps to good ripset maps isn't an invalid line of thought. But if I'm correct, your tiles aren't actually ripped from Earthbound, just designed to look like Earthbound? I opened up a map of Onett and the tiles are similar but not the same. It looks like the only thing that's actually the same is the tuft of grass tile. So, amazing job making an original tileset so good that people thought it was a rip.

i've only ever played twenty minutes of earthbound

i'm too busy coming up with ways to not map, mapping's too mainstream

<=====
You've got me beat by 15 minutes, Craze.

Since I don't know much about Earthbound, I feel that those maps look pretty cool. I really like the shipyard, it stands out quite a bit.

i know craze dissed you pretty unfairly but still, these screens look fine they are not lifeless at all dude. they are not zomg amazing but lifeless is going too far.

this however is fucken beautiful! i really really really like it. what engine is it being made in? is there gampag?

i am pretty sure they have been swept into piles in the gutters like irl.
even if there were tiny invisible gutters, the size of the pile still has the leaves mostly in the street.
I guess lifeless wasn't the best term. I dunno. In my opinion, those tiles all look so bland and dull to me. Despite the high resolution they just look DEFAULT for back of a better word. Almost like this is a world where cartoon bratz dolls would live ...
I posted several different shots of his games and to me, they all look like they could be different areas of the same game.

The point I was trying to make is, why have that attitude towards ripped graphics? Using the default tiles is the same thing, making the best of resources available to create something of your own. In my case almost all the tiles are original or heavy edits and direct rips where appropriate. Its a fangame.

I guess I look like a dick kind of, but oh well. screens.

Ill try shrinking the leaf piles in the other screen, thanks guys.

also being made in craze's favorite engine, rm2k3

Ripped tiles and RTP tiles are not the same thing. Ripped tiles tend to look way nicer than RTP (since you have thousands of games worth of graphics to work with instead of just one game's worth). However, ripped graphics are not yours. Using them is illegal and arguably immoral.

Some people think that's a good enough reason to avoid using them. Other people think that the improved quality of the game justifies the means, because art is more important than ownership. Still other people have a problem with stealing indie stuff, but not with stealing stuff from SNES/PSX/GBA games, supposedly because it is actually somehow different in terms of whether anything is actually being stolen... but really deep down I think they just like sticking it to the man, and using FF6 sprites makes them somehow feel like robin hood or something.

So basically either way you will get a sizable number of people who scoff at your game, so your choices are A) make totally original resources or B) do what you want and let the haters hate

Those leaves in the last screenshot sure are perfectly lined up in even rows. A little conspicuous. Consider making two or three more leaf tiles with the leaves in different spots. I dunno, it stuck out to me but it's admittedly nitpicking. Also, several of your trees near the bottom right have no trunks, as does one in the upper left. I guess the map is just not done yet, though, since some cliffs are missing too. Is the lower half of that map going to be accessible at all? Sorta weird to have two highways cross without actually intersecting, but not a big deal, it's not obviously illogical (maybe the ramps are off-screen) and it helps make the map much more interesting than just an empty stretch of road with nothing on it.
I think that your maps look very nice overall Dookie (but of course I don't know the source material too well). I'm really impressed with the amount of tiles you've managed to fit into a 2k3 chipset. I think that's the real achievement here.
