IN A WORLD WHERE EVERYONE HAS GONE DEAF
THE ONLY SOLUTION IS YELLING
YELLING ALL OF THE TIME
IN OLDSCHOOL GAMES, THERE WAS ALWAYS VOICE ACTING, IT WAS JUST SO LOW IN VOLUME THAT THE CHARACTERS WERE TRYING TO SCREAM TO COMPENSATE.

I like the look of the stats screen and especially like that you have an easy-to-read list of what a character can equip, because trying to decipher and remember that in RPGs always irritates me.
Any chance you can spoil some of your plans for the battle system?
Yeah, same here re: irritation. Thankfully the way VXAce handles equips is super-slick so this snippet in def draw_simple_status was all it took. <3 RGSS3.
As for the battle system, this is my quick-and-dirty experiment with traditional RPG gameplay. There's a lot more ailment and buff play, but it's (quick) turn-based battlin' with swords and spells. I'm stealing a bit from Chrono Cross/Xenogears and using the "different basic attacks" idea, though, but that's because attacks charge up your RAGE for use in weapon abilities, like throwing a RANG to hit all foes or focusing your soul with a HEATER to recharge some HP. If you use weaker "normal" attacks you'll charge up your RAGE faster, but heavier "normal" attacks will deal more damage. Long term/short term payoff stuff. (Magic is magic. You just have to portion out your MP for the dungeon run as a whole. Mages don't get many weapon abilities but can still try out different weapons; GRANT with a SWORD in one hand and a STAFF in the other is totally viable.)
I like the sound of it, I've always thought that having a choice between a few basic attacks could inject some strategy into non-boss battles (rather than just mashing whatever your CONFIRM button is constantly).

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The gyazo.com hosted image in your post above is the one that's not loading.

oh this. was looking for an actual game screenshot that was screwed up =|
anyway, have a really shitty video showing how swap-in order works (the text boxes that are just names will be replaced with actual quotes, they're placeholders)

I have a minor issue. I like the rtp, so that's what I want to use. However, I also like the mack sprites that I made with a generator, because they look so much more like the characters I invisioned and they are more proportional. I don't know that they would fit with the rtp though. The interiors I'm not worried about because I think they fit well enough together. It's exteriors (forests and town settings) that I'm worried about.
What do you guys think? Chibi or mack?
Characters: Barrett (mage) upper left, Hellene (rouge) bottom, Irene (ghost) upper right.

Well, the chibi ones look worse in every way except one, which is that the tileset is designed for them. The trees turn into large bushes when you put the taller people next to them.
Yeah, the taller sprites don't match with the tileset all that well, they're simply too large. Now if you'd get a tileset that has taller trees...

there is more to my statement than you know...
Thanks for the trees Krysty. Will use all proper credits.
Here are two pictures (one indoors with RTP) and one outdoors with big XP type trees and the ones from Soruve. Feedback is, as always, greatly appreciated.

In the area where ghost girl is, I'd think the taller tree would overlap the smaller one, instead of the other way around. Maybe just avoid the whole issue and move the smaller down a tile? Or up a tile. Whichever works best.
I'm trying to make the jump to VX with a new/short project. The mapping differences so far are my biggest gripe. I really miss having both a lower and upper layer to fuck around in instead of them being clumped into one layer. I also couldn't stand not having the forest canopy in the upper layer (B-E?), so this is my attempt so far to bring it back!

Everything else about VX is still scary and new.
Edit: Also, on a side note, is there a setting/script to remove the shadows that get placed automatically when you use the autotiles? I hate having to remove them with the pen tool each time.
