@Mr_Detective: I'm having a bit of trouble seeing a recognizable difference with those text window styles. Also, if I may suggest:

"I am Haruhi Suzuyima. I'm not interested in ordinary people. However, if any of you are aliens, time travelers, or espers, please come see me. That is all."

*Edit: Never mind. I see the difference now. As for which one I like better, I'm going to say the first one. I dunno. It just seems... simpler?

No, the text is the same. I still like the second one better, but with most people saying the opposite, I 'm in an awkward position right now... :P

Also, your dialogue sounded fine. But mine was taken directly out of the anime. :D

I like the first one better, the stylish border of the second doesn't goes with the black color
Aw, really ? I kinda think the second one looks cuter, though. :P Anyone else ? :D

She has a period after sentences?

What ? O.O

It's all good, man. :)
I agree with benos, I like the second one better. But the first is fine. ;)
OK... I just finished making this new window skin. How is it ? :D

I spent 2 hours on this one, phew ! XD
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Well, you don't put a space before a question mark or exclamation point. And that dialogue is ridiculous, haha.

Other than that it looks nice, it's clean and simple. I would probably have completed the box all the way around the "Ki Blasts" that's being selected, instead of leaving the left and right sides open. But that's just me. I can see what you were going for there and I guess it works (it's like enclosing the text in [brackets] but vertically instead of horizontally).

During conversations I think having the text in the middle is fine: it SHOULD interrupt the flow of battle, otherwise the player might not notice it and accidentally miss it by spamming the enter key.

I was thinking more like "press enter immediately as soon as turn starts to open skill window" or possibly "mash enter constantly as battle messages are being displayed because it makes the messages disappear faster." Not "use normal attacks without looking 24/7."
"I admire your ability to die!" might just be the greatest line ever in a work of fiction.

I do agree with LockeZ too; I've sometimes missed dialogue during battles because I accidentally pressed the attack select button/key. Actually, I suppose seeing whether or not all enemies can be defeated by pressing one key would be a good acid test for any combat system.

Robot Unicorn Attack would like a word with you (and about 6 hours of your free time).
Well, I meant any turn based RPG combat system.

And that unicorn can't have any more of my time!

Would have to agree, there. If I'm going to miss a message because I'm not paying enough attention, then said message being more obvious isn't going to change the fact that I missed it. I'll still just be like "Shit, just skipped a message".

And I do mash buttons, but it's more for LockeZ's reasoning; with heaps of extra menus to bounce through, I tend to just mash until I'm at the menu of my choice...

Only way to really help avoid skipping messages is to do something before the messagee. A "Wait" command, a sound effect, fade/change BGM etc etc; give the player a second or two to realise that something's up, then put in the message once the player's stopped o:
Yes, there have been many times when I've been fighting a boss and I'll accidentally skip the first page of dialogue because I pressed the action key, as I was not expecting there to be any talking.
Or even unskippable, slightly slow font popping time :V
That dialogue only occurs when the battle first started, so I don't think it should be a problem... ;)

Ah, that is a habit of mine. Is it okay ? :D

You know where it comes from, right ? :P

Also, like somebody already pointed out, the character portrait in the UI looks really weird. It needs a border, ideally.

I 'll see what I could do. Do I just need to put a border on their battle huds ? Or do I have to do that on the normal facesets as well ? I have a lot of facesets for my NPCs and putting borders on them all would be really painful. :P
