GAMES YOU THINK SHOULD BE ON RMN

I was going to try looking up and PMing or e-mailing people to get permission to add their games to RMN, but it turns out that this is pretty difficult nowadays when the gamemaking community is fractured, lots of people have moved on, and the GW website is in many ways broken.

So instead, I'm going to write down some games' names and their creators. If you know any of these games' developers, or you know where they hang out on the web nowadays, just post it in the topic. Also, if you can think of any other games that should be on RMN and aren't yet, post them too! Remember, RMN is coded by WIP but its content is driven by the members, not staffers.

So here's the list of games we'd like to add to RMN. Bear in mind that we want to contact the authors and get their permission to add their games to RMN. We can't just go uploading it on the site because somebody has the game on their computer.

Games We Want to Get
2. Enter the Cave by DarkPriest (Someone needs to do this)
3. Wilfred the Hero by MaladroitHim (Someone needs to do this)
4. Backstage by Legion (Someone needs to do this)
5. Romancing Walker
6. Legendary Adventure
7. The Most Stupidest Game Ever Re-Duh
8. Legion Saga Series by Kamau (Someone needs to do this) (Apparently has a Gamespot account, http://www.gamespot.com/users/crowbarska/)
9. Diary of a Madman by Dreaded
10. Dragon Destiny by Rast
11. Forgotten Majesty by Kindredz
12. Fallenwood
13. Julius Caesar

And here's a list of games that will be added in the near future.

Games That Will Be Added
1. The Way series by LunC (We're adding it)
2. The Longing Ribbon by gibmaker (I think... weird e-mail response from him)
3. NigSek and IY by Sovan Jedi (And I'm not even going to try spelling Idunn)
4. Sluggy's Adventure by Psychoskull (We're adding it)
5. Final Fallacy by SpoonyBard (We're adding it)
6. Laughy's Tetris by Laughy (We're adding it)
7. Sunset Over Imdahl by Teo (We're adding it)

Games That Have Been Added
1. Love and War by Admiral Styles
What do you mean by what games do we have?

Which old RM games we have on our hard drives, which games we'd want to see preserved here, or which authors we know how to get ahold of?

Personally, I think, in addition to Y's list, we could do well to get Enter the Cave, A Blurred Line, Final Fallacy, Romancing Walker, Forgotten Majesty, Blue Contestant, Wilfred the Hero and Backstage onboard. (Apparently Lys got around to sticking his games up today.)

Outside of a handful of people who have websites, I don't know how to get ahold of anyone. I'm pretty sure Legion is still pretty active in the RM community. Teo too, I would assume.

Gibmaker has his website: http://sqentropy.dyndns.org/~sej/ Which, considering that it was redesigned after the first time I saw it, probably means he is still alive. He replied to the e-mail I sent him after I played his game, even!

Kindredz, I assume, moved on. Leastwise, I tried to contact him once and never got a reply. Which is a shame because Forgotten Majesty has a special place in my heart for being such a genuinely moving game.
I mean games we'd like to see here. We are trying to always get permission before adding others' games. That means it'll be harder to add older 'classic' games whose creators have left gamemaking entirely, unfortunately. One solution WIP talked about at one point was creating a 'classic games' page full of indie games that are over 2 or 3 years old, but I'm not sure that'll be necessary anymore since there won't be scored staff reviews at RMN.

And yeah, your game suggestions are good too :). Good luck getting ahold of SpoonyBard though, he'll probably show up in a year or two in a random post at GW :x. And I honestly don't even remember the name of the guy who made FM. It'd be nice if we could create a classic games archive with older games like these where we could add games made by people who are permanently out of touch. When we finally reached the creators, if ever, we could move their games to the regular directory (or remove them from the site if they don't like us!!)

Anyways, an update. Styles is going to register and add L&W, and LunC gave permission to add the Way. I e-mailed gibmaker and am waiting for a response from him too.
Spoonybard is a regular poster at rpgclassics.com, actually. :o

I wouldn't mind seeing good comedy games like Legendary Adventure or The Most Stupidest Game Ever added, although the creators might be a little hard to get in touch with. The classic games archive sounds like a decent idea if all else fails.
Ha ha, yeah. The Most Stupidest Game Ever (Re-Duh) was pretty funny, I appreciated the multiple endings.
It had its moment, though I disliked how it constantly ripped of Monty Python skits (Not to mention lifting an entire scene from Robin Hood: Men in Tights.)

Assuming I'm thinking of the same game.

The sarcastic save point was groovy, though.

Edit:

Incidentally, I found a e-mail for Kindredz (Forgotten Majesty) at the Gamingw.net. Sent him an e-mail to request he put his game up. Don't know if the e-mail account is still used, though. Never mind, the e-mail is dead.
It'd be nice to see the Legion Saga series on here. I know Kamau is actively working on HL2 modding and stuff, so he shouldn't be too hard to track down. However I'm not sure if he has LS3 anymore.

Edit: Anyone have a gamespot account? Found his gamespot profile here: http://www.gamespot.com/users/crowbarska/ he doesn't have his email or anyway of contact on it, but his account indicates that he has been on not too long ago.
I don't have one, but somebody should get in contact with him and get permission. It seems to me like the general consensus among RMNers (ick) is that the LS series is a crappy ripoff of the commercial Suikoden series, not any sort of 'inspired vision.' However, the LS games were important enough to warrant be placed in our games section, if only for posterity's sake. At least that's my opinion :).

I updated the list of games at the top.
I agree with Mr. Y. They are three solid enough rpgs that are COMPLETE. That I think gives Kamau some credit. They were all enjoyable to play. Some of the few rpgmaker games I ever got through.

NigSek by Rast

...?

You've never heard of NigSek? =\
NigSek is by SovanJedi, everyone. Not Rast. He made... Dragon Destiny? Dragon something. I just know that Sovan made NigSek: A Monster's Tail. (reads more of original post: it is Dragon Destiny)

I agree with pretty much everything on the list. But, it's going to be slightly difficult to get a hold of FLARE to get Romancing Walker up. I <3's it, but it's still going to be a bugger to get a hold of him.
I'll get NigSek and IY up sometime soonish, since people have asked so kindly. But I expected better from you MrY for getting the name wrong. :(
Seeing as how Wilfred the Hero has its own site, it is a simple matter to e-mail Maladroit.

http://www.brandonabley.com/

Blog isn't half bad either.

Is the creator of Laughy's Tetris (Laughy, presumably) still kicking?

Now I'm embarrassed :-[. The emoticon says it all, really.

I'll try Maladroit there at his website...

I'm not sure Laughy's still around, I think he just pops in every year or so. Laughy's Tetris never was too interesting to me... it was technically very cool, being a glitch-free Tetris game made with RM2K years ago, but it's still just Tetris :P. That'd be another good game to preserve for posterity's sake however.

You've made NigSek? Lol! I remember playing that game thinking "Man this guy is a freakin god, I want his autograph or something."
I've been e-mailing and PMing a lot of these guys asking for permission.

If anybody can reach Legion on AIM and ask him to submit some games already, that'd be cool, in fact it would be ice cold. Also we still need to reach Kamau on Gamespot. Finally, we don't have a way to contact Rast or the creators of any of the games listed without an author, so please volunteer if you can help at all.

Bump!

We now have 7 games in queue to add ourselves (WIP told me it's possible but didn't say how.)

If YOU can contact MaladroitHim, Legion, DarkPriest, or Kamau in any way, asking for permission to add their games, then please volunteer and do so!
I'll talk to Legion about adding some of his games on here. Do you just want Backstage, or do you want some of the other games as well?

Oh, btw, hi. I'm Oto, otherwise known as "that guy who pretty much is/was Legion's secretary/webmaster."

Actually I recognize you from GW, hello ;D! And yes, tell him we want ALL of his games. I personally really enjoyed the Tower, I wish he would've finished it but oh well :-\.
