Intentions have no bearing on what actually transpires on this site. The relevant facts are only what can be discerned from the resulting actions taken here. The facts I presented had no basis in 'intentions' recorded behind the scenes, but actual actions taken by both parties. You can present 'months of logs' in any manner you wish but it will not meaningfully change the argument for those with sufficient intellect.

I like that you consider this some sort of war and have been gathering 'intelligence'. Nobody you have been spying on considers themselves at war with you or this place. Kind of weird, dude. We let certain users from RMN idle in our channel despite not really liking or knowing them personally, even when they don't speak at all. Why? Because we don't really care. This is not some cybernetic conflict... to us.

Well, he banned Magi. That's a pretty big one.

Still mad because Magi called you out when you said you are justified in ripping custom graphics from other indie games, huh? Yes, we consider ourselves 'superior' when faced with such blatant stupidity and ignorance as that. But any rational being would.

Felipe_9595 is not banned nor was he ever banned. If you mean Strangeluv, I believe WIP banned him for trying to rig the Misao results in 2007.

I am pretty sure he was banned for creating multiple (read: alot) of fake rpgmaker.net to try to rig the Misao results in 2007. WIP would had more info on this if he chooses to chime in.

You can present 'months of logs' in any manner you wish but it will never change the reality of what actions were taken by which parties. That is your problem Ciel. You have been fabricating my motives for my actions out of pure speculation, but when yours are presently clearly you claim they are not relevant to your actions. I have never spied on anyone and the few individuals who gave me the evidence only provided me with it when you went on a character assassination trip. But that's alright, they disagree with you so they must not be cool enough to be an official part of your clique.
you are utterly inept if you think posting chat snippits out of context without timestamps and posting chatlogs verbatim are the same thing

you are also utterly inept if you don't think this so it doesn't really make any difference

the reason not many people aren't posting in this topic (other that ghost but i guess you are ignoring that wheeee) is because a) it's fairly pointless if they're just going to be deleted again b) they have already posted the same elsewhere, with the actual facts, if you'd just bothered to read
Yes, *full* chat logs and timestamps make the world go 'round...on pastebin no less.

I can assure you that nothing was taken out of context, the only thing edited was changing the names to the actual users and not copy/pasting non-related comments. I would gladly release the entire chatlogs if those who provided me with them are okay with it -- there are far more gems in there than this.

No posts have been deleted in this thread nor will they be. None of yours have been, none of Ciel's have been.

i want to personally assure you i have done "several" background checks on magi before i hired him to rickroll on my geocities website.

personally, i think it's kind of sad that activity is so dead on rpgmaker.net that you have to even post this. why don't you write a few tutorials or articles or something relevant to the site. this is sort of why this place is becoming a joke.
There's no way people can agree on whether something like this is legitimate or not - there is no standard and no moderator. Flaming comments back and forth like a courtroom drama, but with no judge or jury, just a bunch of lawyers with their own rulebooks spouting their version and interpretation of the law.

From my point of view it's been very obvious for a long time how much of all the satire and snark has been to 'improve RMN.'

If we're all so savvy and the methods so effective, why are they being employed here instead of doing it on a larger site with more matured indie developers?

I'm sure we'll all have plenty of snarky or clever responses, but isn't that really just kind of sad when you think about it?

the reason not many people aren't posting in this topic
I believe the reason is because they feel no need to get involved in something like this - nothing would be added or even considered. When have any of us really given a care at all about others opinions?
you are COMPLETELY sane

I don't need to speculate on your motives, they are clear from your actions. Your suspicious demands for silence and rampant censorship leaves little room for interpretation and puts the burden of proof on you. On the other hand, however, you need to use quotes without timestamps or context to support your allegations. The logs as you presented them suggest that Strangeluv attempted to rally everyone to shitpost as a form of malicious attack. In truth it was a reaction to actions you took that were considered unjustified - a form of protest against an inexplicable demand for absolute silence. Everything that has transpired has been such a reaction.

the internet
I was thinking of making a site called The Returners, I liked it more then Meridian Dance.

To the bat cave! (mom's basement).
I think a situation like this is sort of a 'drop in the bucket' theory. You have to ask yourself; how much will this matter for the site and its community in the long run?

This site and everything that goes on here is ultimately user generated; the 'importance' or significance of one member over another boils down to; 1. What they contribute/will contribute, tangibly or intangibly in the ultimate goal of game making 2. How many players their actions ultimately attract to said games and 3. How the site grows as a whole.

While I feel this discussion to get everyone's feelings, sentiments, and facts on the table is good, (and ultimately get this cleared up one way or the other; not everyone is going to be happy, though), how much this matters in terms of the success of the site is really what everyone has to think about. How much is this really worth?

I'm in the middle of the road when it comes to this debacle, but I want everyone to think about a few things.

Feld, no offense but that post in spite of containing numerous words was almost 100% content free.

By now, I think that most people have become aware of some of the site happenings last night. For those of you that are not aware, the following is what occurred:

• At approximately 9:00pm CST the featured game on rpgmaker.net was attacked by vicious terrorists. It was later discovered that this attack was made by Magi, and was meant to serve as his “jihad”. He went on to publicly preach against rpgmaker.net and its followers in the public domain. Government intelligence shows that the attack was made to mock rpgmaker.net and the values of the games available/featured on the site.

• When Magi was discovered to be the perpetrator (confirmed with phone tapping before he released a video in #rpgmaker.net), I immediately excommunicated him from the website. When it became apparent that Magi’s actions were intended to be an act of bloody defiance of rpgmaker.net and its users, a fatwā condeming his teachings was issued. Magi has yet to contact me to appeal the fatwā.

• At this point, Magi became aware of the fatwā and discussed it with several of his peers . At this point, Strangeluv began trying to get others to attack in support of Magi. Several ijtihad were issued, but Strangeluv continued to ask users to attack to see how we would react.
Ultimately, no matter what side you're on in this thing, it's going to eventually have to take a backseat to what we're all here for; making games.

You know, Mog offers the best wisdom with that statement.
True; most people have made up their minds, and this topic is just allowing both sides to expel some hot air.

Regarding Holbert's actions, I still stand by what I said. Strangeluv's posts were a retaliation, not an inquiry, so he got banned after receiving a warning. Various posts which were retaliation for THAT action were then deleted.

It was always about damage control, not censorship. People are free to draw their own conclusion, but this is the other side to the YOU CAN'T DELETE POSTS ON THE INTERNET argument.
