SEX IN GAMES

This is the best/worst thing I have ever seen but it is completely and utterly off topic.
Now that I think of it, I recently played a (very) old, and good, rpg (sorry I
can't remember the name, maybe later) about a guy going too a party with his girlfriend and some frends, and ,
rather realistically, people are f****** in every corner, smoking shit, dancing, etc., as clearly represented as one can with rpgmaker 2k or 2k3 and it was perfectly fitting.
EDIOT : I think it was called "The book of Time", something with time anyways, very broken in the biginning, you have to fix it to play it! (the rest is adventure, time travelling.)

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Dude what the hell kind of parties do you go to and why have I never been invited to one like that
It was a bit exaggerated, but near the end of parties, in far rooms or dark corners, some couples start getting down to "serious business", the overall feel was right, every one's seen that, no?
I think there isn't sex in games because it doesn't make much of a difference, and most people don't care because it doesn't add to the entertainment value unless your really perverted and really into seeing things like pixellated intercourse.
What about pixellated discussions or pixellated eating in a pub, pixellated hanging out clothes to dry outside a house : sex is a part of life, and you have a little bit of everything in life in a rpg.

In Dyhalto's they are clearly just hugging!
Yeah, hugging. Yup, nothing else.

I enjoy having sex with hookers in grand theft auto - then clubbing them with a baseball bat to get my money back.

Though I'm not surprised with what you guys are saying, I think it's a little weird.
Graphical sex in a high-resolution realistic game would be too disturbing, but 2D low res sprite sex is ridiculous and laughable. Why? What's there to laugh about it, really? Why can people take 2D bloody gore violence seriously, but not sex? I mean, it doesn't even need to be taken seriously, but why is it funny?
I have to confess, Max's post was pretty shocking to me.
Max
this dumb animated pixel sex of some rtp chick going down on some rtp dude, essentially. and it's played for laughsMax
but this one is deadly serious. nothing is showed and you're just uncomfortably 'in the dark'
So if you can see it it's dumb and funny, but if you can't, it's dead serious?
And no, I'm not twisting what you said, because that's basically the idea in pretty much every post of this topic so far. Xenogears handles sex very well because there's a well-written love story and you can't see anything? Does sex need to have a deep love story background to be well written?
I will not defend that sex "adds maturity and depth" to games, or that it should be serious or anything. But what I see right now are lots opinions hiding puritanism.
No dude. Sex, just like anything else, is a potential literary tool. A poorly used tool is laughable at best and awful at worst just like anything else.
Sex technically doesn't need to involve some deep story or bond shaping before it occurs.
I mean shit, that's almost never the case in real life anyway.
I guess it would just be a tad odd seeing 2d sprites getting drunk enough to try horrible pick up lines but it doesnt matter anyway because they're drunk so they have unprotected sex and that bitch gave me gonorrhea.
You know what, either way whether there's sex or no sex it doesn't deserve some in depth argument tbh.

That's not what I was trying to say; casual sex and everything in between happens in real life all the time, and writing something as such would, hypothetically, also be realistic. I mentioned the Xenogears example because it works well in that particular context. It's sex, well written. It's just one example out of many, but not the only way.
I think the thing is that sex within the context of a bond or a relationship, where it most certainly happens, is easier to write well than casual sex. Both are completely natural and realistic, but the latter is far harder to write competently without seeming thrown in and corny.
