The riots are spreading to Birmingham and Leeds now apparently. Hope Manchester says sane.

I'm afraid it's a bit more dramatic than that, you know what's going on a little bit all over Europe : Greece, Spain...

Why is there riots ? I mean, here in Canada we only get riots when our hockey team gets eliminated for the playoff.

A black man was shot and killed by the police who claimed that it was in self-defense. It was later discovered that the man did not fire any shots at all. During a peaceful protest, the police attacked a 16 year old girl and that's when all hell broke loose.

yeah, that's the answer.

A few hours ago, there was a Facebook group of people planning to riot at Leicester. The group's deleted now, fortunately.
No idea why people would put their real name on something like that...

The shooting was only the trigger to the riots. There are other undermining factors that contributed to it, I can only speak on behalf of our other english members here (untill they butt in) that the worldwide percepion of Britain as posh tea-drinking gentlemen is completly false. Our culture and sense of idenity has been in decline during the last few years, with high taxes and mass unemployment causing frustration to our generation. This riot has happend across London, Bristol, birmingham, Liverpool and even some parts of Manchester. This wasn't all to do with some guy who got shot, but it was an oppitunty to vent their frustraion on the society that had apparently wronged them.

CaseStudy example I went on holiday not too long ago with a bunch of chinese students across europe. The people we met from so many cultures along our travels was really inspiring, however when we were dining at a pizza resturant in venice we saw a group of british tourists bingedrinking and geneally mocking everyone that walked past them. Their behavior and arrogance was the perhaps the lowpoint of our travels, and a real eye opener on how everyone else perceives us.

I seriously hate my own country, no one here has any sense of decency nor self respect for anything. We don't deserve to have the word Great before Britain.

This is so stupid... I mean, this riot makes the Vancouver one during the playoffs seem like child‘s play; god damn it, this shit is spreading everywhere!

This is just another senseless violent act caused by a bunch of punks with too many cellphones stuck up their ass! Why the hell do these kids need to act like such gangsters and loot and destroy other people's homes and business' over something that doesn't even CONCERN them!!! It was just one thing…that’s all. I can understand rioting over the poverty and just the ways things have been, lately, but this is still no excuse to do something like this.

Hopefully, this shit stops and everything returns back to normal... I also pray that none of you guys living in the UK are getting your heads beat in over this... Really is a shame.
