Beware of the dragon! (Small Update)

- The dragon now has its own animation (similar to the dwarfs and orcs in the game)
- A small graphical bug has been fixed. (The castles didn't burn after they got torched by a dragon. Now they do.)

Castle Warfare Final Edition

I've prepared an update for you. This is the final version of Castle Warfare.

1. Added the point Options to the title menu, where you can adjust the volume of BGM, SE and SE.

2. I've made a new Save Menu that will give you some more information; for example on what level you are and if it's an offensive or defensive level. This can be seen by the icon (shield or sword).

3. In addition, I've slightly adjusted the Windowskin. It's not just pitch black anymore. Instead, I tried to find a shade of gray that blends in better with the interface.

The final version is now available for download. Get it here.

Download updated

I've updated the download link because the previous version had an RGSS error that occurred when pressing Escape in the loading menu. Probably nobody noticed that anyway.

If you've already downloaded the game, it's not necessary to download it again.

Finally it's done: The game is ready!

First of all, thank you for 109 downloads. I mean, wow. I really appreciate that.

Today it's finally time to say: The game is ready!

"What's new?" in a nutshell:

● Advanced Language Script
Five new stages. Face orcs and dwarves in an unique battle system. Can you destroy all enemy castles?
● More information regarding defense facilities, alchemy spells, max. turns, etc.
● Tweaked some graphic issues (e.g. weather effects used to stop when enemies performed their attacks)
● The "E" in Epilog is for "Epic"
● Still no fishing minigame included

I've put a lot of work into the development of this game and I'm very happy that I can finally mark this game as Completed. There's not much more I can say than I hope, you'll have a lot of fun with it.

I'm looking forward to every feedback and review.

There's a new download link available!

Are you ready to smack down some castles?

So I heard some of you wanted

- More scenarios :p

... so I'll give them to you! Castle Warfare now has 5 more stages, meaning a total of 15 stages. This will guarantee you a playing time of just over 2 hours or more, which was my self-proclaimed goal.

It will be done soon! The new stages for Castle Warfare are fully implemented and they're currently in beta testing phase. So far, everything works fine, even though these new levels in the end were much more work for me than I thought before. Yesterday, I already uploaded new screenshots from the new version for you to look at. I hope you'll like what you get.

Well what's new?

In the new version of the game you won't only defend your own castles, but also bring down the castles of your opponent. The enemies will also be able to build defenses to protect themselves and their castle. Therefore, it's important to bomb these defenses and destroy them if necessary. You'll get a catapult, infantry, raw material and many additional abilities that allow you to be tactically effective in combat. Sounds fun? It is!

Anything else?
Well, yes. Fortunately, I've already received a review of this game and therefore have received some criticisms that I've been able to work with to improve the game. For example:

author=Dyluck
One of the things that makes this game harder than it should be, is the lack of information. (...) Firstly, it is not explained what Smokescreen or Tornado even does.

I've added a new feature that gives you the value of spells in numbers. It's useful because you can tell now how much stronger new spells are (compared to previous ones) and whether it's worth using them in a given situation.

Besides, the game is now completely multilingual. It was already the case that you could play in German or in English. But the language can now be set directly in the title menu, which means that you could continue playing an English savegame even in German, if you want.

In addition, I've tweaked some stages, which I personally found too hard in retrospect.

A new download will most likely come in a few days. Stay tuned.

I'm a terrible liar!

Yes, I confess that I'm guilty. My last blog said...

This should be the final version of the game.

...but hell! I was so wrong.

Ok, so what I'm doing right now? At the moment I'm working on some stages, where you can hit the opponents on their noses, instead of just defending against them. I've spent many hours in shaping the default battle system to make it look like the core game. Mainly, I'm trying to build a proper battle system by myself and without cramming all of Yanfly's modules into one game. Hopefully it will work in the end.

Hm, is something wrong? What? Oh, you want pictures? Well, ok.

How the combat system will work:

• Hit "Continue" to collect 10 ore and 10 rocks every turn.
• Every Actor has his own raw material pool. You can transfer raw materials between actors.
• Shoot and destroy the enemy castle using the catapult (consumes 10 rock per use). Destroy their castle and you'll win!
• The opponents will create buildings (e.g. military bases, watchtowers...) to defend themselves and send troops to fend off your attackers. They'll also build an academy, meaning they'll heal their castle until you've destroyed their academy.
• Wakanda can use her Alchemy during battle to reduce the opponents defenses.
• Maybe more. I don't know yet.

Now all I have to do is implement the skills for the opponents and for the players and implement the AI. That will probably take a while yet. I hope I'm creative enough to give the combat system a tactical claim.

I hope you like the update. If you have something to say, feel free to let me know.

GOLD Version now available!

Hi there, people of RMN.

Thank you so much for 53 Downloads within the time this game was up. The thing is, when you publish your game to RMN and you think you're done with it, you're actually not. You start thinking... could I've done better? YES! That's the spirit of perfectionism and so I had to remove the current version of the game, because it's time now to upgrade to Castle Warfare Gold.

• I spent a lot of hours to make this game even better than before and also more comfortable for you to play. Therefore, I overhauled every single stage to improve the whole balancing. Basically, I made the game less difficult and much more fun for you to play. In conclusion, the whole game is completely new.

• I started from the bottom and fixed the Trading System in a way to make it more intuitive. You like farming? Me neither! From now on, you'll be able to trade even smaller amounts of material like for example 50 wood to 30 ore. No more farming.

• The Alchemy System is completely different from now on. Spells used to fade the next turn after they've been casted. I decided to increase the power of every single spell and once they've been casted, they'll stay active until you dodged the next incoming attack. Therefore, I included some Icons so that you can see which spell is currently in use.

No more Game Over. If your condition reaches zero, the game will ask you if you want to continue or give up. Anyway, I think you shouldn't give up. Nobody should.

• Event Pop-Ups will immediately show you how your defenses have increased right after creating any defensive building.

• Status can now be checked for dragon attacks as well.

• BGS for weather effects (ok, that's definitely not the biggest part of this list).

• Slightly improved Mapping with more small details.

• Last but not least: I included Faceset Expressions to make cutscenes less static.

I hope you like the update and the game itself. This should be the final version of the game. Have fun with Castle Warfare Gold.

Stay tuned,
