This game was created as part of a contest where the goal was to create a maze. It made it to 2nd place. Trapped is already some years old and hasn't been touched since the contest ended. Accordingly the playing time is rather short.

Story:
For some reason you (whoever you are) have been locked in a dark cellar. You have only one thing in mind; your freedom! But you're not alone. You're chased by dark creatures that are out to kill you! Why? Doesn't matter. You just want to get out of there alive.

Gameplay:
• Explore the dark cellar where you are trapped and make your way back to freedom.
• Trigger mechanisms, solve numeric codes, find ammo and open hidden treasure chests.
• Fight for keys to unlock doors by striking down the undead that hold you captive.
• Defeat your foes in a tactical combat system using knives, bombs, and firearms.

Playtime:
~ 20 min.

In all fairness, bird shrapnel isn't as deadly as wood shrapnel

This looks pretty neat, and it's awesome to see someone using the first-person engine. :D

Thanks. It's a lot of fun. I would also like to see more people using this engine.

I would use this engine if there were more tiles and if the camera wouldn't turn about when I event force a battle.

You can add your own tiles. I just don't do this because I like the default ones. If you want to add own FPLE-tiles, make sure they're 64*64 px. Also, you can disable the camera turn right before the battle starts. If you can't find out how to do this, just delete the script named Turn Before Battle.

I tried to use an FPS engine for VX Ace for an event once. It used the Layy Meta engine. I realized I didn't want to spend several days of a short event trying to figure out how to use Lay Meta with yet another system, and decided to just do the regular engine.

There's a program called VXA Marta, which is made with RM Vx Ace. You just have to select your tiles, draw your maps, then save them to your Vx Ace Project.

I've set this project to hiatus for now. Don't know when I'll continue to work on it again. One day, I will for sure.
Added a preview/demo/something like that. Maybe I'll leave it as is. Maybe I rework it and add more content. Let's see how you like it.

Just played this. Loved the tight balancing and it's exactly what I've been trying to do in my current projects. The maze itself was pretty well designed, though the puzzles and overall story/arc could've used some more work. Undercooked but with a ton of potential and a neat concept :)
@Deckkiller: Thanks for playing. I'm currently into doing a larger remaster of this project featuring more rooms and with more quests to solve (and notes so you don't have to remember large codes).
