On Dymunia, most children of rich families are sent to Ralgarth's Academy to learn magic. In the first year, children are given magic books called Scientacles that directly give them the theorical knowledge to use spells. They also learn about the history of Dymunia. Most of the first year is actually spent socializing with other student as abusing of the Scientacles can lead to severe headache or permanent brain injuries.

The second year is spent practicing magic. Most student chose to master one or two elements although every magician is able to cast every spell with varying degree of success. During that year, small tournaments are organized to test the magical skills of the students.

Students are grouped in group of two or three. They tend to include different races as an effort to quell the racial tensions caused by the Last War.
