Previous Sweet Middleground releases:
Sweet Middleground
Sweet Middleground 2 ~the birthday cake~
Sweet Middleground 3 ~the lost keys~

With summer arriving, Clara rounds up everyone in the group for a vacation in a summer house, near a beach. Although she is being difficult at first, Antigone ends up investing her time in the making of a sand castle, another one of her missed childhood experiences. But this endeavor will soon hold stakes higher than she had wished for.

This game is also the chronological sequel of the previous ones. Yet, contrary to the previous ones that could be played whenever, this one is heavy on the character development and contains a lot of romance. If you're interested in the story, I don't recommend playing it without having played the previous ones.

Gameplay-wise, similarly to the previous ones, this is a mix between a VN and a puzzle game. This time, the accent is on comedy/romance. This is mostly VN, and the puzzles are easy.

This time too, the portraits are animated to some extent. In addition, the outfits change quite a bit, so the game contains a sizeable amount of portrait work.

This includes swimsuits. Although there's a lot of skin showing, and sex is a recurring topic in the story, the game is perfectly SFW.
Estimated playtime: 1 to 1:30 hour.

Small update

The main download has been updated. The updates include mild spoilers:

- Fumiko's portraits corrected, she doesn't change clothes magically anymore
- the automatic re-firing of the cannon avoided

- Antigone spawning issues fixed (hopefully)
- and some minor dialogue improvement.

One game to go~ At least for now.

That's my best gamepage, is it not? I pray you'll like the game too, as you know I'm having a little sweat seeing it through.

Fortunately, it can't be a full failure, because swimsuits.

Finally, the long-awaited beach episode.

I've done my duty, sir. No summer regret melancholy thing in here, no no no.
Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble collecting the clams.. I need to be 2 steps away from the crab to push it away right? But in tight corners I just cant seem to turn around in the same spot to face the crab, I always get moved to the next step. Am I doing something wrong? Plz help!

Here are a couple of tips:
- You can push over cliffs, since they're 1 tile large
- You can use obstacles like boulders, to be able to turn without advancing

Good luck, and glad to have you back =D

I think collecting the sticks was worse for me than the clams. That puzzle combined pulling the brambles, pushing the crabs, and filling/moving the wheelbarrow!

That's the one supposed to be the hardest, yes. I kinda expect I'll have to lend a hand for it as well ='D
I got 3 of the 4 clams. But I just can't seem to understand how to get the last one(next to the 2 crabs at the lower right cliffs). Maybe it's really obvious for others but my brain just isn't working today. If I can't even solve this one, I don't know how I'm going to get past the next puzzle with the sticks/brambles. It sounds even more tough than the clams

I'll screenshoot up a solution for these, and for the brambles in anticipation. Gimme a moment~

Edit: here it is. Just like in the old magazines.

Don't worry one bit~
I've come to realize recently that there was a lot of variance in the way my puzzles are received. The same puzzle can be obvious for someone, and super hard for someone else. I'm still investigating the question, this is quite the mystery...
