Random Dungeon was originally created by hamusuta over several years. Support ended in 2010, so we're listing that as the finished date.
Note: Due to how RPG Maker games read image files and how unzipping a file can break it if it has Japanese text in the name, we've changed the images' names to English equivalents. However, possibly due to plugin dependencies, this won't work with some images and the system will throw up errors without the specific Japanese-named images in its folders. These three will be included separately in this game profile to ensure that players are able to download them and rename them with the proper text if necessary.

Story:
Random Dungeon begins without a prelude, an opening, or even anything to get the player introduced.
This was a choice by the original creator, so we avoided changing it.
Now, onto the story...
Within the past twenty years, the Maou, ruler and commander of all monsters, was slain by the outworlder Hagane, and with its death, the world began to change.
People had lived with the ongoing struggle against the monsters for many years, so the end of the war sent ripples across the world.
The monsters that once rampaged out of the dungeons have since stayed within their dens. Humanity now looks inward for new wars.
Nowadays, mercenaries are more common than dungeon-crawling adventurers, but there are still some who would rather hunt for treasure than fight the wars of others.
A result of that is that the once-prosperous villages built around dungeons have lost their main sources of industry.
Random Dungeon is set in one of those dungeon villages, which is called by the name of... Dungeon Village. Well, at least it isn't Broccoli Village..?
Over the years, Dungeon Village has decayed as most of the inhabitants left the frontier for larger cities and better opportunities, but the late chief's heir and her partner have formed a plan to revitalize their hometown...
...although, Random Dungeon isn't quite so serious most of the time. Much of the dialogue is humorous interactions between the characters. Here are some brief introductions to some you'll meet early in the game.
Characters:
Features:
- 80 to 100 hours of gameplay.
- Save point system - you can't save anywhere, but save points are generally just where you need them.
- Random map placement in stretches of dungeon - while any given map will be similar each time you enter, their location in the dungeon will be random.
- Random treasure chests everywhere!
- On-map encounters - not only can you avoid most fights, you should! It isn't that they're difficult, but that you'll soon run out of MP if you fight everything in sight.
- Monster encounters will change according to player level, so grinding can be kept to a minimum. Even if it may seem necessary to some players, there are ways to speed it up.
- A classic front-view battle system - but with Overdrives (Limit Breaks) that are often conferred by a party member's equipment.
- Forgiving loss system - if you get wiped out, you're just kicked out of the dungeon without losing anything whatsoever! Push yourself as far as you can go!
- Over 90 boss fights.
- More than 900 pieces of equipment to mix and match.
- An item guidebook that's automatically populated whenever you find a new item. It displays weapon attributes and armor resistances and status immunities as well.
- Item synthesis.
- Quirky, lovable characters in a normally lighthearted setting that can still shift into darker drama at times.
- Lesbians.

...although, Random Dungeon isn't quite so serious most of the time. Much of the dialogue is humorous interactions between the characters. Here are some brief introductions to some you'll meet early in the game.
Characters:
You will see that the game begins with three women already in your party.
They are Ananta, Benett, and Shizuna. The former two are the current co-chiefs of Dungeon Village, and the latter is an exceptionally talented but inexperienced sage who
insists on being called a "Priest."
While there isn't any explicit content (or strong focus on romance whatsoever), relationships between women-whether as romantic partners, friends, or family- often serve to drive the plot.
Ananta:
Class: Fighter
A massive woman with pointy ears. She can't use magic at all. She was adopted by the former village chief, who died a few years ago at the age of 150.
Her complex about her inability to cast spells is one of the very few things that can bring down her positive attitude.
She loves collecting items and is working on a gigantic book of every item and piece of equipment she sees.
She calls Benett "Benecchi" and the two have lived together ever since the latter's father passed away.
Benett:
Class: Trickster
The last of an ancient tribe that could trace its lineage back through many famous figures.
Perhaps the true "hero" of the story. Many people they meet consider her to be the leader of Ananta's party.
The most grounded and realistic of the party, although she can get into the swing of the others' silliness at times.
She believes that she needs to maintain an air of elegance, and as a result is hesitant to show her soft side to anyone in public.
She has a bit of a dark outlook due to the tragedy she experienced growing up, but has held on and grown strong with Ananta supporting her.
Shizuna:
Class: Priest
An extremely powerful yet rather airheaded spellcaster. It should suffice to say that she's the lynchpin of the party despite her youth.
She was the tag-along-kid to Ananta and Benett's childhood antics until her family moved to the city of Endymion.
Her family was the first to leave town after the Maou was slain, and it's her return to Dungeon Village that sets off the
plot of Ananta and Benett trying to gather resources from the dungeon to rebuild the village.
She loves cute and girly things, especially short women.
Alisa:
A drifter who wandered into Dungeon Village one day and left just as soon after.
Shizuna's Older Sister:
Humorously, she isn't ever given an actual name. Runs the village store to fuel her scientific research. She's much older than her younger sister.
Rachel:
A one-time adventurer who came to Dungeon Village on a call to agriculture after Shizuna's neighbors decided to leave the village and sell their field.
She loves farming and horticulture, but is far more athletic than one would expect a farmer to be...
Kanadzuchi Fairy (Kana):
A fairy smith who moves into a house on Shizuna's invitation. She's the source of the synthesis feature in this game.
She's also permanently horny for any and all adult women she meets.

Combat:
Battles at first seem to consist of classic Dragon Quest-style fights that are the RPG Maker default, but have one major difference:
Overdrive skills can be used by both player characters and enemies when the OD gauge is full. The OD gauge carries through between battles, so an important part of any boss fight is coming in fully charged and ready.
Each party member has their own unique Overdrive:
Ananta's Pride Bout increases her Atk, lowers her Def, and puts her into a berserk state for 3 turns after use.
Shizuna's Sacred Spirit Protection reduces the Atk of all allies by a tiny bit, but halves damage from Fire, Ice, Electric, Water, Earth, and Wind elements for 3 turns.
Benett's Deadly Over awakens all unconscious (KO'd) party members via ancient magic but causes them to be in a special confused state after 4 turns pass from their revival.
Damaging Overdrives are found on many weapons, or rarely, armor, but these go with the weapon or armor and can't be learned for the most part.
Learning Skills:
That leads into the next subject. Each party member will be able to learn important skills or spells by equipping certain weapons or armor and defeating a certain number of enemies while equipped.
You can check the progress of any such skill via the AP Viewer in the menu.
Status Resistances:
Armor equipment in this game may have one or more resistances to the classic statuses such as Poison, Sleep, Stun, and more.
Each status can be dangerous in its own way - for example, Poison not only damages but and reduces your stats in this game!
Therefore, you'll want to fix your equipment loadout before each boss so that you won't end up with a party of sleeping, confused, and poisoned lesbians waiting to be beaten up and kicked out of the dungeon.
Elemental Resistances:
There are ten major attributes to concern yourself with: Slashing, Piercing, Blunt, Long Range (LR), Fire, Ice, Electric, Water, Earth, and Wind.
Common enemies will have 1-2 attributes at their disposal unless they're supposed to be mages, but bosses, depending on their placement in the game, tend to have at least 3 and potentially many more attacking attributes.
In contrast, each enemy or boss will only have one or two attributes to which they're more vulnerable.
