A world destroyed by nuclear war...
A conspiracy to free mankind by all means necessary...
A young farmboy trying to avenge his father's death...
A mysterious amulet that may be the key to many secrets...
A guitarist in search of the greatest song in the world...

Welcome to the world of Götterdämmerung!

In the year 2012, a series of unexplained terrorist attacks pushes the world into nuclear war; civilization as we know it is completely destroyed. The war's few survivors gather in small villages and struggle against famine and disease. In the following decades, six charismatic leaders appear in various parts of the globe and begin shaping new civilizations from the ruins. It does not take long before these new empires start to fight among each other, and new wars break out.
Slowly, gradually, the new empires learn to live with each other; today, one hundred years after the nuclear war, the world lives in a fragile peace.
In the trading post of Dikea, on the southern border of the Saharan desert, a young boy grows up in a peaceful culture of farmers who shun any technology that is not absolutely necessary for growing crops. When a mysterious flying object falls into his father's cabbage patch, his life is suddenly about to become a lot more interesting...

Features:
* Drive cars and tanks, fly fighter planes and airships
* Discover various minigames hidden throughout the game world
* Travel around the world through seven distinct areas
* More than 30 hours playtime
* Soundtrack by Moreno, Fastmono and Portinari.
* Engine: RPGMaker XP

Characters
You are Marduk, a 16-year-old farmboy who is bored with life in his village and dreams of growing up to become a rock star, or at least a smuggler like his best friend Sheena.

Sheena has grown up in the neighbouring village; she is two years older than Marduk and constantly taunts him for being a stupid, useless farmboy who doesn't know anything about the world. Despite this, the two are the best friends you could imagine.

Marduk's father does not like Sheena; he doesn't like that she's a smuggler, he doesn't like her monstrous car, he doesn't like that Marduk spends time with her instead of learning how to become a farmer, and most of all he doesn't like that she's fond of using all sorts of technology - because the way of the farmer is one of being in tune with nature, not of fiddling around with machinery.

How to unlock the Arcade from the main menu

Okay, purely hypothetical situation: suppose there was this game whose creator went a bit overboard with creating crazy minigames and stuff. And let's further suppose purely hypothetically that some of you might consider nominating said game for the "technical prowess" Misaos award because of the text adventure and jeep chase and stuff, but didn't because the game is hypothetically speaking also very long and some of you didn't make it far enough into the game to discover all the weird little minigames. And let's further suppose that this game had an Arcade map that allowed easy and direct access to all the various minigames, but that map would be unlocked only after completion of the entire game.

In this entirely hypothetical and fictional situation of someone maybe wanting to check out the minigames without having to invest 30 hours or more for finishing the entire game, there might be an easy solution: the game checks for the presence of a file called "gd_rpg.fin" in the game directory (%APPDATA%\GD_RPG) - to unlock the bonus features from the main menu - just create an empty text file in that folder and rename it to gd_rpg.fin.

did not finish game (refuse to) thoughts

interesting start

having trouble figuring this world out. with that cave tech why is flying things unheard of or even shocking for that matter?

why does your character have to be stupid? getting help is a obvious choice when dealing with shady people!

well the game was god...until your get outside of town and have HUUUUUUUUUUGE areas to explore.
adding you fairly slow walk speed. it really sucks

you KNOW your gonna need something but cant take it until you go waaaaay out of the way 1st and then need it!

pretty sad such a simple fix....yet the village just left it like that for a extended period of time...
humanity in this world is even more pathetic then the current one is in reality.

this feels like a horror game in the aspect how nothing ever just works something is always wrong and you have to fix it b4 you can do anything!

hmm...dont get why you take a round about way to get into he city....you know 2 guards not much of a problem...even more so...your probably planning to do something to there leader... :/

flips a table! why do you gets maps AFTER you go thru the areas!?

Overall
i would only recommend this to people who simply want to waste alot of time on nothing.
the amount of bull between side quests(which are mandatory!) and traveling
you do in this game is insane!
this was a terrible experience and cant w8 to forget it.
as a positive i came across no glitches or grammar what so ever.
Oh dear me... Two hours to download.
Well I like what I see. Let's hope this game is awesome!
Also i really like how you use animations for all the food and items in battle and talking about money,i always got new equipment when i could money seems to be used very much for the needed food drink items and equipment which i find enjoyable since you don't get easily rich in this game because you are probably going to need it for all that stuff.
Oh i do have an usefull savefile since i had to read the guide a few times and found out that i needed the savefile there so i am gonna use my own one.
I think my last battle also was only 4 turns i killed the last boss before i even killed his minions.
Oh maybe this is a bug but i remember that i emptied the chest out where you have those eagle birds when going to spain on an island over the bridge, the chest was closed the 2nd time i visited the map even though i opened it already and it was empty when i aproached it.I think that the chest should have stayed open if i opened it already in my first run through the map.
Edit:Also the authobahn club make it flash less than it's already flashing.I don't have seizures but the colors are flashing too much in that club
Wow, thanks a lot for the feedback, both of you. It makes me all giddy inside to read how much you've enjoyed the game :P

Fetch quests and backtracking, yes. There are indeed a number of plain old fetch quests...blame it on my lack of imagination and creativity. I tried to come up with unique non-fetchy quests for everywhere, but I have to admit that the sheer scale of the project pushed my creativity to its limits so I chose the easy way out a couple of times. You can avoid most of the walking and backtracking by using ships and teleports, though...it's only the Indian jungle and the European forests you have to cross twice, and if you just walk through them without getting involved in a lot of fighting, both can be crossed in a matter of minutes.

The final boss battle involves a bit of luck. He's pretty resistant to being poisoned or confused (off the top of my head, I think you have a 5% chance for each), but if you do manage to poison him on the first turn, the battle does get pretty easy. The first boss should be very easy to enrage (which lowers attack to 80% and armor to 60%), that should make the battle a lot easier. But the difficulty of the first boss battle mainly depends on how long you wandered through the caves and how far you've leveled up on the way...as long as you found the pistol, the battle shouldn't be too hard on level 9 or 10. Without the pistol, it's a pretty tough challenge.

If you want to play through Europe a second time with Martine instead of Dave but don't have a useful savegame from Siberia any more, you can use the save I'm just about to upload...check the downloads section in a couple minutes.

Oh, and zenla, don't be too hard on yourself...I didn't just choose you as a beta tester because the others sucked :P You provided some very useful feedback and caught one or two rather embarrassing bugs. Thanks for that!
Ah years later here I am writing it. I remember when just for few seconds I tested this game and yet I was included in testers you either had very bad testers or so few of them that you included me. If I remember correctly I dropped pissed by lack of fellow testers to talk about game. Well whatever it was long time ago.

THIS GAME IS ON THE LEVEL OF MASTER OF THE WIND. It beats it or not your choice.
Except few minor bugs like maruder mechanic telling us about amazing car when we did not even get it yet or uncle telling us to get pearls even before we got quest. I went to him to ask about maruder. But except few such minor mistakes it was truly a huge alive world. So many sidequests though most somehow connected to main quest so gotta do them all. Perhaps a bit bigger variation of enemies would have been in order but meh. Just sweetness will rot teeth. Rather too much walking through already conquered areas but oh well time needed to beat game must come from somewhere. So like seriously man you did not waste quite a bit of your life to create this game. Your existance is useful to the world. The end boss ehhhh cheated by poisoning him on the first try. Death in 4? turns. The only really really tough boss was....the first one. He was doing way much more damamge than I could heal. After quite some grinding I poisoned that SOB and in damage race I won.
Game sure goes up thanks to unique vehicle battles. Lots of minigames though no searches for ultimate weapon. Though it sure amused me quest for getting that rifle on beach. Though one character was often doing 1 damage before I could get him a new weapon. To sum it up good job and to those reading play it it is worth quite some time of your life.
Ps: I am a bit involved in creating caravaneer 2 now. Though it is mostly proofreading and translating. Hope you will play a game I had my hand in. So we get even. Ever if just a little.
Beaten your game at level 70 and probably 35 hours. It is a pretty good game would give it 4 stars if i would write a review, even though it kinda suffers from these fetch quests to activate them like get to stone and press action so the protagonist says something and then you can buy dynamite and you have to go back.Instead why don't we buy get this maybe we will need it later.Otherwise love the music, the battles are usually fast which i like the skills are unique the game has a pretty nice atmosphere there was much walking in this game and the game is kinda funny with some of it's songs and jokes.
The final boss defeated me the first time which i thought was hard, not the second time when i reached level 70 and didn't forget to get the best sword then it was a little to easy i think but it was all risky.I played on normal i did lose a few times but nothing horrible, the game isn't too much hard on normal.Played with dave, still gotta try the other character if i will play from that certain spot.
Anyway thanks for this game and the end couldn't you have done more with the ending?
I mean more what happens to each playable characters after that
Blame the stupid German tax system...or rather be thankful for it, I guess :P I did have some moderate success while trying to go commercial, but when I had to file my taxes the very moderate earnings from the game were added to my income from my day job, which meant that the government took almost my entire earnings. Having commissioned some of the graphics and a couple songs for the soundtrack, I even came out with a loss...that's when I decided to just give away the game for free instead of handing my earnings away. Bad for me, good for you, I guess :)
But you have no escape from battles and that is why i pressed f12 when i unwantedly touched an enemy and went into a battle. The only reason that i pressed f12 was because i was low on healing items and the battles were getting hard,so all i had to do is escape the bat cave, get healing items, good thing i found a gun but only latter when i almost went through the whole bat cave.It would be nice if i could load the game from the battle, but i don't know how that would work so i guess closing the game and restarting is what i have to do.
Anyway this is an interesting game by now i like playing it.
Also how come you went from commercial to freeware?
Didn't get many downloads?
Oh. Yes. The good old F12 problem. Strictly speaking, that's not a bug with the mouse script but an issue with RPGMaker's stupid F12 reset function...pressing F12 will perform a partial reset of the game session but will keep a number of scripts running in the background. The way the mouse system is set up, this will inevitably lead to a recursion error...sorry about that, I guess I could have coded a fix for that into the mouse system, but the only way to reliably get rid of that problem would have been to completely disable RPGMaker's F12 handling. The easy solution is either not to use the F12 reset function at all, or to close out of the game and restart it once the error message appears.

As a side note, you don't have to press F12 to load the game...I added a "load" function to the game's menu (both the main menu and the quick access menu on top) so you can load a previous game at any time without going back to the title screen.
When i press F12 and then try to load the game it crashes:
The message i get is:
Script' Mouse_windowedit'line 527:SystemStackError occurred
Stack level too deep
That's...a weird one. I know what happened, but it should be impossible for that to happen. Did this happen when you manually saved, or was it an Autosave spot? If the latter, which one exactly? (ie, directly after the boss fight, or when trying to leave the water?) Did you have an earlier (beta) version of the game installed, from which there may still be an old savegame hanging around somewhere?

I should hopefully be able to fix your savegame if you send it to me via private message...savegames are stored in %appdata%\GD_RPG, I'm pretty sure the one that causes the issue is the autosave.rxdata
i have a problem can u help me pls. After second diving in ocean for rare pearl I got this message

Certainly a unique take on a post nuclear war world judging by the screenshots. I have subscribed and downloaded the full game. I plan on giving it a try soon.
By all means yes - I'm definitely looking forward to that.
Looks interesting, I'll definitely leave a review when I finish this one.
got new version will test when I can
The full version is not finished yet...I'll certainly post here once I'm finally done.
