"What!? You... you wanted to be defeated!?"

Back, in 2002, my brother, made a game with the RPGM-2000 engine, entitled Legacy. I even helped somewhat in that game's development. Memorable characters, an interesting story, and it's own sense of humor, it was a gaming experience more people should have access to.

I tried fiddling with the RPGM-XP engine, but the system was set up in such a way, that it would take a miracle of programming genius to pull off in RPGM-XP what my brother did just by checking a few check boxes in RPGM-2000. The task was overwhelmingly difficult for my skills. I dropped the project entirely, and switched to a more reasonable task, a sequel, or, at the very least, a spiritual sequel. It was not meant to be. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that RPGM-VX would make a better platform.

I was right on the money. Not only did I have the tools, more or less, needed for a Legacy remake, I went ahead and did it. With my brother's blessing, no less! While he didn't directly help in the development of Legacy Reborn, his input was most welcome. Particularly about the optional bonus dungeon I inserted.

What I didn't foresee was that this was still a rather "first RPGM game ever" game, and there was no attempt to rectify issues that arise from such an attempt. I'll admit that the wacky creature balance is totally my fault, but I was specifically directed not to mess too much with the mapping.

MOSTLY done, but not quite!

To be honest, there's probably a few more things I can do with this game. Make certain scenes better, have the wandering NPCs in the Jade HQ have dialog. Stuff like that. However, the essence of the game is done! Which is the most important part!

I have updated both the RTP-inclusve and RTP-dependent versions of the game. Please note that the main download has been set up as the RTP-inclusive version. Now, if you'll excuse me...

An instant classic, I'd say. I'm already up to the Jade Fortress. Now to find a way inside...

EDIT: And I beat it. Though there's more spelling errors than I can shake a stick at, I did enjoy myself. One thing though, was that the Abomination could not be slain. Using Ultima to do over 1000 damage to my group every turn, while I can only do about 100 damage? I'm sure that had I bought potions and revived and -maybe- healed enough to keep people from dying, I would have been able to grind out the rest of the boss.
The mapping on the 2nd and 3rd shot looks like it needs a bit of work. On the 2nd one, you have a lot of detail on the left side with the rooms, but the main area on the right side looks like a lot of open space. I did like the last screenshot though, and thought you did a good job with that.

You need more than two screenshots in your entry. Title screens don't count toward that total. I'll give you a few days to make changes.

He's got more than two, but for some reason, one of the images appears as a title screen until you open it's page.

@ Corfaisus: I was kinda afraid that the Abomination would be too difficult. I've certainly never been able to defeat it! I can assure you, though, that the "invulnerability" flag was not checked. It's theoretically possible to defeat it. Just don't ask me how.

@Magi: Just to be on the safe side, I'll add one more.
I'm liking it so far :P I really like how there's a timeskip and Kazuto turns older.

I'm liking how nobody's yelling and screaming about how they can't run the game.

I guess everybody has VX on their computers, or something?

This game sucks warthog dick. I am sorry.

The mapping is just so bland and uninspired... The characters feel generic and lifeless... Not to mention the battles, oh god, the BATTLES! Never in my life had I needed to take more than a friggin' minute to kill a single slime... A SINGLE SLIME!

Not even that "weapon weakness" thing you have is worth it, this game is a complete pain in the ass to play.

... So yeah I hate this game sorry.

If anyone should be sorry, it should be me for not seeing the issues of this game earlier.

I can be such a stubborn idiot at times.

Yeah, uh, about this game not exactly being "cancelled" anymore...

Cool! I'll give it a shot when it's available. Will there be a demo? Or will it be the full version at once?

My aim is to have a playable demo up to the cave. It will probably be about a week before it's ready. Though, if I get done early, I'll certainly post about it!

Aside: This post seems awefully familiar...

... oh. I see you've already said that.

I can litterate!
Up to the cave...just how short is this demo. And the next. Come to think of it....how long approximately that next one?

The current demo is pretty stupid-short. Like, ten, maybe twenty minutes stupid-short. The next one should be longer, though, if it ends at the same point. Which it probably should, since the eventing is mostly there! I'm not sure by how much longer it would be at this juncture, though.
Played the demo, have a video (may be a stretch to call it an LP. I'm not sure if its worth posting, it's so short). My main problem is that you don't need to try - it's essentially impossible to die unless you want to. I used basic attack spells on the boss over and over til he died, ignored his silence, etc. and survived with full HP on one and about half on the other.

The new demo... isn't all that much longer, to be honest. I'm thinking things are still on the easy side, but the story flows a bit better.

Or so I would like to think!

*Edit: Did I seriously not see that response until now?

RMN straight up won't let me download this right now. That's a first. It said to try again in 5 Minutes. I guess you're getting a lot of traffic?

The only way I can see this get a lot of traffic is if everybody who was part of the event is trying to download it all at once? Which could be possible, if people are just going down the event entry list.
