Yeah the lava pit and the boss there seemed slightly strange to me.

This level is completely safe! The boss is on friendly and the lava is covered by an invisible block! This is star world. To the left are four doors leading to the four different worlds. The symbols surrounding them represent what those world are about. (The boss and the lava represents lava world) To the right are some mini-games you can unlock with stars!

Why not cover the lava with a bridge instead? That's a lot more intuitive than an invisible block.

Try making the whole section by the boss door rocky and cave-like. rather that a single lava block.
