You are CHAD DANIELS a teenage boy living with his aunt in the projects of Trace Town. Coming down on hard times, his aunt enrolls him in a military program in Lezeer to help her cover the bills. Intimidated by its reputation as "death capital," Chad attempts to skip town for the night to dodge recruiters. In his closet, he comes across a child who panics and disappears in a show of light.

Discovering that his aunt has also disappeared and undead walking the streets, Chad realizes that despite looking the same, this world isn't the one he knows. Rescued by an angel who calls him the "Diamond," he becomes Allumia's only hope against the Onyx, a gem of reality-altering power pursued by a deranged ex-knight who'll stop at nothing to seize it. CALLING ALL BETA TESTERS!

I'm in dire need of beta testers. I test played this game 2x in a row but I still feel like I might have missed something.

I know RPGM 2000 is super vintage at this point, so finding a tester will be an uphill battle. But I figured I'd try anyway.

If you run the game in EasyRPG, you can toggle full screen using F4 or "Alt + Enter" and it plays in full screen for hours like a charm !

You are godsend. Uploaded a new download with the player included, for both 64x and 32x.
Note that I've only used the Linux version of EasyRPG. The Windows versions are compiled from the same source code, so they should work just as well... unless Micro$oft introduces incompatibilities in some "update".
Well I wish you listened to some of my critique, the sounds in the game aren't grisly enough. Like not enough slug and slash like all of that animation work and sound revision I did. Those system sounds in the game now are too tinny, even the damage sounds don't sound like "you've went" through pain. It just kinda sounds like something bumped into something. Needs more oomph. I was playing it and noticing these things. Be prepared for more crit though. I do mostly illustration as work though I've also done a lot of sound in my time, I've done over 300 songs, but not all good, I am also good at mixing sound and numerous other things as well.

Finished the game, Royle is an absolute beast by the end, even more broken due to him being able to fully self-recover his HP/MP after getting his ultimate weapon and spell, problem with the game is that you have too many characters, this is an issue in games with a large cast, they either become outclassed or underlevelled way too often. Some areas music wise had sort of a dissonance to it that did not fit as well. Also in the final overworld, you can walk on the sky if you land on the tiles of the sky. Despite all these flaws, game is alright on its own merits. 7/10, not the best RPGM game I played, but it is at least a complete title despite the gripes I've experienced.

I wanted to thank you for your feedback. If I were to completely redo Onyx, I would definitely cut Marie and Vernon. Their traits cwould be absorbed into other characters. But at the time I made this, I was sixteen and enjoyed games with large rosters. Now that I'm older, I recognize that a big cast isn't necessarily the best game design. lol
Big Cast is very game and comic book, a very common thing in both industries to jam pack with a lotta characters these days. Almost too many. What is that doing? Idk
Large cast can be a good thing. When some characters become unavailable for narrative reasons, large cast make it easier to gather a balanced team. Also, I tend to play with the lowest level characters to make sure they don't get underleveled.
Well since my crit, how has Onyx been doing? Since I last played it, it definitely seemed more grimacing. I definitely thought it got further with the changes you made to the game. Sound needs a bit work, maybe adding some reverb or something to the menu sounds. It's up to you though. I have maade over 300 songs though no one, has seen anything to the light of this day except on the old Acid Planet website. HISTORY. this I actually CAN do, though I am also doing a lot of projects and work since I do have jobs...

I haven't touched Onyx in a year and have no intentions of using RPG Maker ever again.

Instead I've been writing the script for an actual indie game I plan to lead/direct.
That's cool. RPG Maker does seem to have addictive qualities. It's weird. D:

Best of luck with your future endeavours Yeaster! Although I never did fully finish my playtest of ONYX, I hope what little help I did provide was helpful and what I played of the game was very cool and I am certain you'll make great games in the future!
What engine do you plan to use? EasyRPG? A custom engine?
One thing though is that I hope I didn't discourage. I just wanted to game to rock out really. Getting somewhere too with games is a lotta work. Though what I have noticed is that a lot of games keep just copy pasting each other and there's almost too much of the same themes over and over. Like one can use the storytelling elements in other ways too. Though rocking out with RPG Maker does sound kinda strange lol.
What engine are you gonna use for the next game-o?
I'm not sure tbh.... lol The vision I have is a retro PS1-style RPG (not gameplay, but as far as the 'look' goes), maybe a similar (visual) style to Revelations Persona or the PS1 ports of Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2.
Haven't played them. Though know about them. But blue hair woman ftw hahah
