There is now a website you can use to share your custom content with other users! But you're still welcome to use this page to share and discuss content.

Below is a list of finished custom (user-made) content. To add these characters, in most cases you can extract the downloaded file to the game's main directory and you're set. Depending on how the author has organized them, it may be necessary to move files to the appropriate directories. (Custom content has not been tested by me)
Note: After new content has been added, old saves won't be compatible.

If you have posted custom content in this thread, I will (eventually) add your link to the list above, along with a small screenshot if you have included one. Be sure to test your content in-game before posting.

Helpful things:

--> Medium build girl, the .psd that was used to create the built-in characters, is available with layer names in English.

--> Not feeling artistic? You can use any of these images for making custom characters.

--> Notepad++ with syntax highlighting for Heartache 101 can be a big help with story creation.

--> If you are writing story content that includes the appearance of existing characters (built-in or custom), the following list may be of reference:
ID 0 = The Player
ID 1 = Nakajima Miki
ID 2 = Ikeda Keika
ID 3 = Onishi Tsubasa

I would upload my profiles for shi... but it is full of swearing and so is shi's story... not exactly the friendliest person...
And at 1 in the morning after resolving shi's profile problem and starting masai's story I finished masai's profile which has not got any swearing in it... I think...
I'm propably gonna load up 7 or 8 character images a day and make 1 or 2 new characters a day and obviously work on stories and stuff maybe add a few new girls so i have alot of things to upload ^^ I might even make higurashi characters since i've already got a picture for rika... i should upload rika's picture 1st
Here's the first character I made just to get familiar with the system of AnimeGen styled after Rika Furude from Higurashi
Sorry about my last post >.< i forgot i hadn't uploaded all of masai's pictures

Maybe...
CUSTOM 20 = *Muffled breathing*

For actual phone stories, I dunno, maybe she sends you messages while you talk to her on the phone? Are there cellphones that allow you to read email or messages while you've got someone on the line?

I think I like this idea of her texting the PC instead of answering the phone. Texting works for her a lot better than speaking, but I'd have to ensure that players understand that she's texting instead of talking. She might be too much of a persnickety speller to look like a "true" text though. I'll think of it a bit more. The more general problem I'm seeing is her asking for advise. She's not mute, but I don't necessarily want her to speak to the player character either. Well, at least for random/general encounters, anyway. Disabling encounters doesn't really work for her, so there really isn't much I can do if players meet her and she's like, "Hey, <player>, how do you solve for x in this equation?", or whatever.

I'm not too worried about only being allowed three character-specific graphics on-screen, though that OTHER-based work-around sounds interesting!

*Edit: Looks like you finally got your images to display, Animetor! Cool stuffs! Though, the septuple post is not cool.

Having all the Masai images in one post was good. That's not the complaint I'm making. I'm complaining about the fact that you posted seven times in a row. Optimally, you want to have as much information in one post as possible. Even if there's notations in that post that it was edited seven times. Alternatively, you can just have the "last edited" notation that auto-displays when a post is edited.

You do know the edit button, do you not? I know I've used it a few times! Recently, even, as one can see!

*Edit: Say I wanted to post something new, and no one has posted since my last post. I make an edit to my most recent post. As thus!
ohhhhhh i get it now
so i should just edit
instead of making millions of posts

Maid :3

I should add her to my game ^^

I might add her to my game as someone you only see on the train or maybe at the station?
I have a follow up question to my error about file naming. I was just curious, since my file is called story_21.text and my story numbering begins at 201, how could there possibly be any overlapping between my files and the originals?

The built-in stories have a naming convention of "game_stories_X.txt", and generally start at STORY 1. Your naming convention, and starting at STORY 201, should not "see" the built-in story lines. Unless they have a "CONDITION = STORY X DONE IN game_stories_X.txt", or what-have-you.

Well, that's what I'd assume, anyway!
I think we should specify a standard naming convention. After i renamed my file from 21_story.txt to story_21.txt, my problem went away. If we all named are files a certain way, then we could eliminate any possible bugs down the line.

Or maybe the game knows how bad my story is and it's trying to stop me from writing it. Who knows.

flowerthief when you get a chance, take a look at your mail. lil' package for ya.

I don't know about you, dude, but "masako_story.txt" worked a hell of a lot better for me than "story_10.txt" ever did. As for the qaud-tech that I'm working on, I haven't started writing any stories yet. In truth, I'm still thinking about how to handle shy-girl who's name I'm not revealing yet.

Unless I'm really sneaky: Terakado Shoko!
I'm outta luck then, because my character is actually called 21. The big reveal for the un-generic ending is finding out her real name.

but thanks to your quad tech idea, i got an idea on how to get more places into the game. I wanted to make a sequence where my toon is singing on stage and as we speak, I'm designing the stage.
@dude797
Just to be clear, having to rename your file is only a temporary workaround until I get out the next release. That was just a careless bug on my part and it has been fixed, so really, everyone should be able to name their files whatever they like.

But to answer your question, the game uses an index for each story that is not the same as the index given by users. This is necessary since two stories in two different files might have the same user-given index (in the built-in stories, they very often do). The index the game uses is determined simply by the order in which the files and the stories in them are read. So an inconsistency in read order was causing the indices the game uses to be off.

@Marrend
You make a good case for allowing custom responses for advice encounters. I didn't want to do that because, well, first it would mean adding a lot more custom responses. Let's see, five for how they ask the advice, five for their response when the advice is good, five for their response when the advice is bad, at least one for when the player declines to give advice. So 16 more custom responses.

That in itself wouldn't be a big deal except that I'm not sure about how to go about allowing the player to define a custom response for how a girl asks for advice. Should I allow them to come up with their own scenario? I'm not sure that's a good idea. Any other suggestions?
Maybe you can specify two types of generic encounters, each with On/Off switches. Generic encounter 1 is the Chat/Sign/Phone # scenario, the other encounter is the 'I don't know what to do, please help me solve this problem' scenario.

Then again, I know little of scripting and I'm unsure how troublesome it would be to separate the generic encounters into two fields.

I'm not sure about how to go about allowing the player to define a custom response for how a girl asks for advice.

Eh? If it's a custom response, would it not just be something in the profile? Like:

CUSTOM 77 = {string}
# Custom query for when a girl asks for MIND-based advise.
CUSTOM 78 = {string}
# Custom response for accepting MIND-based advise.
CUSTOM 79 = {string}
# Custom response for rejecting MIND-based advise.

Speaking of highly customized characters, what do you guys make of these:

CUSTOM 20 = Text Message: What now?
CUSTOM 21 = Text Message: How's it going?
CUSTOM 22 = Text Message: How are things?
CUSTOM 23 = Text Message: Wanna "talk"?
CUSTOM 24 = Text Message: Greetings.
CUSTOM 25 = Text Message: I've been meaning to "talk" to you...
CUSTOM 26 = Text Message: Don't call me again.
CUSTOM 27 = Text Message: See you around.
CUSTOM 28 = Text Message: 'Bye for now.
CUSTOM 29 = Text Message: Until next time.
CUSTOM 30 = Text Message: Must you go?
CUSTOM 31 = Text Message: Must you go already!?
CUSTOM 32 = Text Message: What? No, I can't.
CUSTOM 33 = Text Message: I'd like to, but...
CUSTOM 34 = Text Message: Hrm. Maybe another time?
CUSTOM 35 = Text Message: I... guess so.
CUSTOM 36 = Text Message: Certainly.
CUSTOM 37 = Text Message: Yes!
CUSTOM 38 = Text Message: I would go anywhere if... what am I "saying"?
CUSTOM 39 = *Smiles awkwardly*
CUSTOM 40 = *Cordially tilts her head in query*
CUSTOM 41 = *Slight smile*
CUSTOM 42 = *Embarrassed smile*
CUSTOM 43 = *Hides her face in panic*
CUSTOM 44 = *Waves farewell*
CUSTOM 45 = *Bows in respect*
CUSTOM 46 = *Blinks a bit, then starts leaving*
CUSTOM 47 = *Stares at you uncomfortably, then starts leaving*
CUSTOM 48 = *Exuberant smile*
CUSTOM 49 = *Nods pleasantly*
CUSTOM 50 = *Gives a worried look*
CUSTOM 51 = *Rubs her stomach*
CUSTOM 52 = *Shakes her head emphatically*
CUSTOM 53 = *Slowly nods*
CUSTOM 54 = *Nods with an embarrassed smile*
CUSTOM 55 = *Bats your hand away*
CUSTOM 56 = *Blushes with embarrassment*
CUSTOM 57 = *Smiles as she blushes*
CUSTOM 58 = *Nods in approval*
CUSTOM 59 = *Bows in respect*
CUSTOM 60 = *Stares with expectant eyes*
CUSTOM 61 = *Pushes you away*
CUSTOM 62 = *Holds you tight*
CUSTOM 63 = *Pushes you away*
CUSTOM 64 = *Reacts with a bit of her own passion*
CUSTOM 65 = *Nods approvingly*
CUSTOM 66 = *Shyly offers you some food*
CUSTOM 67 = *Stares at both you and your date*
CUSTOM 68 = *Tilts her head at Izumi*
CUSTOM 69 = *Tilts her head at Ruri*
CUSTOM 70 = *Shrugs*
CUSTOM 71 = *Draws a sign on a paper*
CUSTOM 72 = *Frowns*
CUSTOM 73 = Text Message: Are you busy right now?
CUSTOM 74 = Text Message: Am I... a burden?
CUSTOM 75 = *Nods in recognition*
CUSTOM 76 = *Waves goodbye*
