This page is for discussion of the technical side of content creation. If you have a technical issue or question with regards to a character or story you are creating, talk about it here.
(The old Custom Content thread can be found here)
Helpful things:
--> Medium build girl, the .psd that was used to create the built-in characters, is available with layer names in English.
--> Kudos to SparkleFox for finding us a male tachie generator, authored by "彩 雅介" (Aya Mayabaikai?)! This one is put together as a program, but has PSD files with layer-names in Japanese. No "fan-translation" available at this time.
--> You can use any of these images for making new custom characters.
--> Notepad++ with syntax highlighting for Heartache 101 can be a big help with story creation. To set it up, go to the View menu and set User Defined Language to HeartAche. Then close View, go to the Language menu and select HeartAche. (If you already have Notepad++, here's userDefineLang.xml by itself)
--> Mr. Help File has, regrettably, forgotten to mention certain locations! They are as follows:
Beach (sunset), Grounds (sunset), Roof (sunset), Bedroom (Morning), Downtown, Studio Room.
Note that these locations must be specified via a PLACE command. To the best of my (ie: Marrend's) knowledge, they cannot be obtained via the generic "School" or "City" code.

author=MarrendYour memory is working ;)author=GarageOne could probably do a custom ending this way. Though, if memory serves me right, the event preceding the phone call highly suggests that the phone call happens. From that phone call, maybe one can have the characters meet up again after however-long-it's-been? Sorry, my memory's more than a bit fuzzy here!
First: even in an normal ENDING you don't have to stick to that phone call routine. You can have BRANCHES and have tachies SHOW up as in any other STORY.
But: you can just start with a phone call, and then something else happens.
Think of Junko's ending - this is implemented as a CUSTOM ENDING ... but I am pretty sure you could emulate it just as well with a normal one.
(Another example will be in my next version of my current project).
author=MarrendGuess what was the second thing I tried after discovering that STATE = LIKE works ...author=GarageHuh. That's an interesting technique. However, my guess is that "Other" slots could not be used this way, as those are not states
Second: if you ever want to change the face of the girl in that last "heart" picture at the very end ... just use "STATE = <whatever>" ...
So ... if you really want to, you can even create a heart with a "DISLIKE" tachie in the middle ...listed under the "STATE" line, in accordance to Mr Help Fileper say.
STATE = OTHER1 just yeilds an error message telling me that "OTHER1" is not a "state".
Not very surprising since "STATE = " is related to the affection system ...
Nonetheless, there are some uses for my discovery: an heart showing a girl in a STATE other then LOVE or LOVESICK (for example: I'm planing use this for a not-perfectly-happy ending ...).
Another way of using this would be if you can make 100% sure to avoid a given state (probably DISLIKE or maybe LOVESICK) ... for example if she has ENCOUNTERS OFF (and no PHONE) or if you lock her after reaching LOVE anyways.
(Or at the moment the drops below UNFRIENDLY). A nice application would be using an somewhat aged version of her with a differnt outfit.
Speaking of projects ... whenever I get this multiending stuff where I want it to be I would like to try some content with some own characters.
What is the current policy about IDs? (I am not planing to have them interact with existing content, so I could probably number them 1,2,3 anyways - but if you have some IDs that I should preferably use ...)
The policy for requesting IDs for newcomers is that there must be some kind of evidence that one is working on content. There's certainly wiggle room on the exact amount of content that needs to be provided, but, coming in off the street (as it were), asking for an ID will be met with questions (at the very least).
In your case, you provided playable content, it was tested/played (to an extent), and you received feedback/help on said content. So, ultimately, I'd be okay with reserving IDs for you at this juncture. The one thing I would note is that content with overlapping IDs would not be able to be played together. So, for example, if an author uses ID = 1 with a custom character, that content cannot use the base material (or the game would throw an error), since the base material also uses ID = 1. flowertheif wasn't particularly concerned about this interaction, but I kinda am. However, if you go ahead and assign an ID that's already "taken", it would be a noted on the ID-list as an "ALSO=".
In the case of characters that do not overlap with any other content, the question that occurs to me is how many you're looking to make? If it's just one, I'd say it can be in any slot that's "open" or "cancelled". If it's a group of characters (such as Uchioniko, Wolfpack, or the like), the usual preference is to keep them together.

Currently I'm planing to use about three slots. There will be one main route for one of them and one maybe two alternatives which I regard as less-then-desirable choices (read: he can get her, but <player> should be well aware that he will NOT be HER perfect option).
I am not too sure that my story will really work out as planed.
For example it might happen that build up to much sympathy for "the wrong one" while "Ms. Right" ends up too ... flat? (is this the right word for a not-too-deep-developed character?)

If you don't mind, I'd like to reserve the following slots for my next project:
ID 77 = Harada Himeko
ID 78 = Fujikawa Sayumi
ID 79 = Fujikawa Mayumi
(All names are have been randomly generated by repeately playing "generic", unnamed chars and noting down their names. I then chose among those which sounded "good" for me ;) )

What I was trying to do was get Tsubasa and Ayumi in the same story, while only using one document, as that is what it implies you do with custom content from Mr.HelpHTML (Or maybe I misunderstood?)
What Mr. Help File says isn't wrong. As previously stated, there's a bunch of custom characters that include the built-in characters. So, two possibilities. One is that you included the character incorrectly. At which point, the message should have been more along the lines of "Character with an ID of 5 not found in <insert_profile_name_here>.txt", or some-such. The other is that there is something else going on that is happening that is throwing that "Abnormal Error" error. Number 2 seems the more likely scenario to me at this juncture.
At which point, you either tell me exactly what you did in regards to how you tried to make Tsubasa and Riho appear in your stories (you might want to consider hide-tags), or, upload your files into you locker as mentioned previously.

CUSTOM 5 = <player>! I was wondering when I'd bump into you next.
CUSTOM 6 = <player>! About time you showed up!
CUSTOM 7 = <player>!
CUSTOM 8 = Later. Hopefully much later.
CUSTOM 9 = Later, I guess.
CUSTOM 10 = See ya later.
CUSTOM 11 = See ya later, <player>.
CUSTOM 12 = Well, see ya later, <player>!
CUSTOM 13 = See ya soon, <player>!
CUSTOM 14 = See ya real soon, I hope!
CUSTOM 15 =
CUSTOM 16 =
CUSTOM 17 = Don't you already know it?
CUSTOM 18 = Did you lose it? Write it down this time, jeez.
CUSTOM 19 = Is this intelligence gathering? Don't worry about me, <player>. I know what my type is.
CUSTOM 20 = Yeah? What is it, <player>?
CUSTOM 21 = Oh, hey, <player>.
CUSTOM 22 = Hey, <player>. What's up?
CUSTOM 23 = Hey, <player>!
CUSTOM 24 = Oh, you called! I thought maybe you had lost my number again.
CUSTOM 25 = About time you call, <player>!
CUSTOM 26 = Later.
CUSTOM 27 = See you.
CUSTOM 28 = My little brother is making noise. I better go see what he wants.
CUSTOM 29 = See ya at school, <player>.
CUSTOM 30 = See ya soon, <player>!
CUSTOM 31 = See you tomorrow, I hope!
CUSTOM 32 = You gotta be kidding me, right?
CUSTOM 33 = Thanks but no thanks, <player>. I know you could use that kind of practice but not me.
CUSTOM 34 = Well...not this time.
CUSTOM 35 = I guess it wouldn't hurt to practice my manners in front of a boy, even if that boy has to be you.
CUSTOM 36 = All right, <player>, let's go.
CUSTOM 37 = Sure, let's go!
CUSTOM 38 = Is that a serious question? Of course! Let's go.
CUSTOM 39 = No wonder you never had a girlfriend if you can't even keep an appointment. Anyway, forget it. I kind of expected that from you.
CUSTOM 40 = You actually came. More surprisingly, so did I. But that's because it's on the way to where I'm meeting Keika. I only have a little time to waste with you today.
CUSTOM 41 = You're on time for a change, <player>. Every once in awhile you surprise me.
CUSTOM 42 = There you are, <player>. I guess I showed up a little early.
CUSTOM 43 = Don't make me wait like that, <player>! I've been here for 30 minutes! No, you're not late but....
CUSTOM 44 = I gotta run now. Laters.
CUSTOM 45 = I guess we should go home now. This has gone on long enough, right?
CUSTOM 46 = I guess we should stop there. Until next time, right?
CUSTOM 47 = I'll see you tomorrow, right? Right, <player>?
CUSTOM 48 = Hey, you know me well!
CUSTOM 49 = All right, thanks.
CUSTOM 50 = Thanks, I guess.
CUSTOM 51 = Can we get something to munch on? I'm kinda hungry.
CUSTOM 52 = Oh c'mon, I can get home by myself.
CUSTOM 53 = Well, since we live close, might as well.
CUSTOM 54 = All righty, let's go!
CUSTOM 55 = <player>, stop that! Jeez.
CUSTOM 56 = No one I know better be watching us.
CUSTOM 57 = We used to hold hands when we were little kids, too, didn't we? Maybe not, but who cares now?
CUSTOM 58 = I know my house was on the way for you, but I guess I should say thanks all the same.
CUSTOM 59 = Remember when we used to walk home together from the supermarket after buying snacks? Walking home with you reminds me of that. Although...this is a little different.
CUSTOM 60 = Oh, <player>, you could have walked a little slower. We're already there! I don't want to go home yet.
CUSTOM 61 = Hey, what are you doing? Geez, <player>!
CUSTOM 62 = This...is...oh man....
CUSTOM 63 = Gya! What gives?! I don't think so, <player>!! Oh brother, I can't believe you.
CUSTOM 64 = If Keika saw us this way I'd never be able to explain myself.
CUSTOM 65 = How about that! You remembered my message! You're not as unreliable as you seem, <player>.
CUSTOM 66 = You've had this before, remember? It's a recipe I learned from my mom. Let me warn you that I don't make it as well as she does. Well, I'm learning.
CUSTOM 67 = That was your...girlfriend? Nah, it can't be. You can't have a girlfriend. You just can't.
CUSTOM 68 = So you're a little closer to Riho than I would have guessed.
CUSTOM 69 = I wouldn't have guessed you've been hanging out with my best friend behind my back.
CUSTOM 70 = Oh please, <player>. Tell me I didn't just hear you ask my sign.
CUSTOM 71 = I never thought I'd get asked <i>that</i> question by you. But whatever. You believe in that stuff, <player>?
CUSTOM 72 = <player>, don't walk off like that when I'm talking to you!
CUSTOM 73 = Hey! Are you surprised? It's me.
CUSTOM 74 = Who were you talking to just now, <player>?
CUSTOM 75 = Well look who's here! Where are you headed, <player>?
CUSTOM 76 = See ya around, <player>.
CUSTOM 77 = You got a moment, <player>? I wanna ask ya something.
CUSTOM 78 = Well, it's these shoes. Do you think they'd look all right on me? I don't wanna spend the money if I'll never wear them.
CUSTOM 79 = Good call! Thanks.
CUSTOM 80 = Hmm, I dunno about that.
CUSTOM 81 = I have a volleyball meet coming up but the gym will be closed the night before. Got any ideas how I can prepare for the meet without a net to practice on?
CUSTOM 82 = That's a good idea, I gotta admit!
CUSTOM 83 = Um, we're talking about <i>volleyball</i> here. Hello?
CUSTOM 84 = My little brother has been driving me up the wall. My mom says I need to be nicer to him, but is that really the problem?
CUSTOM 85 = Well, you got a point. Maybe I should work on that.
CUSTOM 86 = I don't think you understand the situation, <player>.
CUSTOM 87 = It's...well, it's this assignment for science class. I hate to ask <i>you</i> for help, but nobody else seems to know.
CUSTOM 88 = Thanks a bundle!
CUSTOM 89 = You don't seem to know either. After all your big talk you're no better at science than me.
CUSTOM 90 = Well, it's this calligraphy I have to do for extra credit. I guess you need a good artistic sense for this stuff.
CUSTOM 91 = That'll work! Thanks!
CUSTOM 92 = I should have just asked a classmate.
CUSTOM 93 = It's okay. I'll ask a classmate.
CUSTOM 94 = Yep. I don't forget little details like that whether I want to or not.
CUSTOM 95 = Are you coming today? After school? I'll see you there!
CUSTOM 96 = You bet I do!
CUSTOM 97 = Nope. I'm not a fan of going to that place.

CUSTOM 18 = I suppose it might be useful for us to have each other's phone numbers for those time when Miki can't reach me.
CUSTOM 19 = Well, you would know that if you met my boyfriend.
CUSTOM 20 = Can you make it quick? I'm, um, cleaning my room.
CUSTOM 21 = This is Keika. Oh, hi, <player>. Sorry it took me awhile to answer. I knew my phone was on the floor somewhere.
CUSTOM 22 = Hi, <player>. Do you like my new ringtone? Oh, is "ringtone" what it's called?
CUSTOM 23 = Hi, <player>!
CUSTOM 24 = <player>! I was hoping you would call.

CUSTOM 28 = Goodbye for now. Miki is waiting for me to return her call.
CUSTOM 29 = Goodbye, <player>. Call me again.
CUSTOM 30 = Goodbye, <player>! I suppose I better get over to Miki's house. She's been waiting since before you called.
CUSTOM 31 = You can call any time, okay? I'll always answer.
CUSTOM 32 = Um, you know I have a boyfriend, don't you?
CUSTOM 33 = I shouldn't. Shoichi probably wouldn't like it if I spent time with another boy, even if we were just hanging out.
CUSTOM 34 = I can't. I'm going out with Shoichi tomorrow.
CUSTOM 35 = I suppose it would be all right as long it's for a little awhile. But this is not a date. We're just hanging out, okay?
CUSTOM 36 = I suppose I have some time tomorrow. Shoichi has practice, I think.
CUSTOM 37 = Sure! I don't see the harm.
CUSTOM 38 = Of course!
CUSTOM 39 = It's all right. I wasn't waiting long since I was late myself.
CUSTOM 40 = Was I <i>that</i> late? Haha, I guess I was.
CUSTOM 41 = Hi, <player>. I tried to be on time. I really did.
CUSTOM 42 = Hi, <player>! Am I at the right place? Oh, I guess I am!
CUSTOM 43 = <player>! I got ready early today so that I would arrive before you. You didn't see me waiting over there?
CUSTOM 44 = I better be going. Shoichi is supposed to call.
CUSTOM 45 = I shouldn't be out long. Bye for now.
CUSTOM 46 = I suppose we should end it now. Ask me out again soon!
CUSTOM 47 = I never had dates this fun before. I wish we didn't have to say goodbye.
CUSTOM 48 = This is just what I like! Did Miki tell you?
CUSTOM 49 = Thanks for sharing.
CUSTOM 50 = I see. Well, thanks.
CUSTOM 51 = <player>, is it all right if we stop somewhere to eat? I'm a little hungry.
CUSTOM 52 = I don't think that would be a good idea. Shoichi might be at my house.
CUSTOM 53 = I suppose it wouldn't hurt.
CUSTOM 54 = Of course! Shall we go?
CUSTOM 55 = Please don't. I have a boyfriend.
CUSTOM 56 = Well, as long as nobody sees us....
CUSTOM 57 = Sure, I don't mind!
CUSTOM 58 = Thanks for walking me home, but we better not make a habit of it! Someone might see us.
CUSTOM 59 = Thanks for walking me home, <player>. Let's do it again.
CUSTOM 60 = Are we there already? And I thought I was walking slowly....
CUSTOM 61 = Stop it! You don't hug a girl who has a boyfriend.
CUSTOM 62 = We shouldn't but...it's just a hug, right?
CUSTOM 63 = This...no, stop it! I can still see Shoichi in my head.
CUSTOM 64 = I know we shouldn't be doing this. But I don't care.
CUSTOM 65 = <player>! I'm glad you came!
CUSTOM 66 = Wanna try a casserole I made? I never tried making a casserole before, though. In fact I have hardly ever tried cooking before.
CUSTOM 67 = You know that girl? How well do you know her? No, don't tell me.
CUSTOM 68 = It's not fair. You've known Miki since the two of you were young.
CUSTOM 69 = You are...really going out with Akari, huh?
CUSTOM 70 = I don't know why you want to ask me that.
CUSTOM 71 = My sign? Okay, sure. Horoscopes and stuff are kind of fun.
CUSTOM 72 = Where are you going?
CUSTOM 73 = Hi! I just felt like talking to you out of the blue.
CUSTOM 74 = Was that a friend of yours?
CUSTOM 75 = <player>. Are you going to town, too?
CUSTOM 76 = That's my stop! I need to run. Miki has probably given up waiting for me.
CUSTOM 77 = <player>, would you mind if I asked you a silly question?
CUSTOM 78 = Which of the purses in this magazine do you suppose would match this blouse?
CUSTOM 79 = You're right! I should buy them all, shouldn't I?
CUSTOM 80 = Well, I'm not sure. Maybe I should just buy them all.
CUSTOM 81 = Um, how exactly do you do a layup? Shoichi tried to teach me a long time ago but I didn't quite get it. We're playing basketball in gym class this week so I need to know.
CUSTOM 82 = Oh! So that's how you do it! I'm sure I'll miss but as long as it looks convincing to the other girls....
CUSTOM 83 = I think Shoichi's explanation made a little more sense than yours.
CUSTOM 84 = I, um, I think my classmate hates me and I can't figure out why.
CUSTOM 85 = Come to think of it, she <i>did</i> say that she wished I would show up to work on that project on time for a change.
CUSTOM 86 = But we used to be on pretty good terms.
CUSTOM 87 = Yes, well, it's this computer thing. I can't figure out how it works.
CUSTOM 88 = So the card needs to be in the device <i>before</i> I turn it on? I think I can remember that!
CUSTOM 89 = That doesn't seem to be working either. Do you know anyone else who is good with computers?
CUSTOM 90 = It's this assignment I have to do for Mr. Yazawa's class. Are you good with clay, by any chance?
CUSTOM 91 = I like that! If it's all right, I'll hand this in and tell him I made it.
CUSTOM 92 = That still looks kind of...well, it's not much better than what I was coming up with.
CUSTOM 93 = It's all right. I know you tried, or thought about trying.
CUSTOM 94 = Not really. Wait, could it be...?
CUSTOM 95 = I'll be waiting there. I might be late. But I'll really try not to!

CUSTOM 25 = You called at last! We have much to discuss.
CUSTOM 26 = I can't be squandering time like this.
CUSTOM 27 = I have business to attend to.
CUSTOM 28 = Excuse me. I'll be getting back to work now.

CUSTOM 42 = There you are, <player>.
CUSTOM 43 = There you are, <player>! The fact is, I left early so as to monitor your arrival.

CUSTOM 46 = I was out longer than I anticipated, but I suppose it will be all right.
CUSTOM 47 = Are you going home? I still had...business to discuss. We should get together again soon.
CUSTOM 48 = Excellent! This suits my fancy.
CUSTOM 49 = Very well. Thank you.
CUSTOM 50 = Thank you, but you should have done a bit more research before spending money on that.
CUSTOM 51 = Deep thinking requires energy. Shall we get some food?
CUSTOM 52 = That won't be necessary.
CUSTOM 53 = Very well.
CUSTOM 54 = Yes. I would appreciate that.
CUSTOM 55 = Excuse me, what are you doing?
CUSTOM 56 = Ahem.
CUSTOM 57 = This is somewhat embarrassing.
CUSTOM 58 = Thank you for accompanying me.
CUSTOM 59 = Thank you for accompanying me home today, <player>.
CUSTOM 60 = It looks like we have arrived. Darn it.
CUSTOM 61 = Excuse me!
CUSTOM 62 = This...is unprofessional behavior but....
CUSTOM 63 = ...! What are you doing?
CUSTOM 64 = I...ah.....this is embarrassing....
CUSTOM 65 = You kept the appointment. Very good!
CUSTOM 66 = I made a pasta before I left. I call it the "Tsubasa Special". Try some.
CUSTOM 67 = Evidently, you've been busy with investigations of your own.
CUSTOM 68 =
CUSTOM 69 = I should have known you were pursuing a relationship with my classmate. All the clues pointed to that conclusion, but I didn't want to believe it.
CUSTOM 70 = Astrology is nonsense.
CUSTOM 71 = Astrology is nonsense. You're welcome to indulge in it if it pleases you.
CUSTOM 72 = You appear to be leaving.
CUSTOM 73 = This is Tsubasa. I'm just calling to check on things.
CUSTOM 74 = Was that an associate of yours?
CUSTOM 75 = It's you. Going my way?
CUSTOM 76 = This is my father's office.
CUSTOM 77 = I have an admittedly trivial matter that needs attention.
CUSTOM 78 = Simply put, it is the question of hair. That is, what hair styles look attractive to your gender, if you don't mind my inquiry? I ask out of clinical interest.
CUSTOM 79 = Yes, that is what I thought.
CUSTOM 80 = Is that your opinion? I'm somewhat skeptical.
CUSTOM 81 = To become a police officer one needs to undergo some amount of physical training. Do you know anything about this subject?
CUSTOM 82 = That indeed makes sense.
CUSTOM 83 = Doesn't sound right. I had better consult the books on the matter.
CUSTOM 84 = Why is it, in your opinion, that some of the students in our school are more popular than others?
CUSTOM 85 = Very interesting. That is all.
CUSTOM 86 = That wasn't a convincing explanation. There must be another.
CUSTOM 87 = One often has need of the power of deductive reasoning. I am wondering if you know of the advantages of <i>inductive</i> reasoning?
CUSTOM 88 = Very good. Just what I expected from you. Yes, I only wished to see if you knew.
CUSTOM 89 = I'm afraid you'll need to study up on the matter a bit more.
CUSTOM 90 = Perhaps you can explain to me what the point of poetry exactly is? I've always suspected that the reason it never did much for me is that there isn't, in fact, much that it can do.
CUSTOM 91 = When you put it that way I can almost agree.
CUSTOM 92 = You've failed to change my opinion of that medium, I'm afraid.
CUSTOM 93 = I'll research this matter myself.
CUSTOM 94 = Naturally. I recommend writing things down if you think you might forget them.
CUSTOM 95 = Don't forget your appointment.

CUSTOM 78 = What looks sexier, these short shorts or this short skirt?
CUSTOM 79 = That's how everyone else answered, too. Okay, I'll wear that to the party then. Thanks!
CUSTOM 80 = Hmm, but every boy I've asked gave the other answer.
CUSTOM 81 = Do you do weight training? A friend wanted to know some things but I couldn't help. I'm not a guy.
CUSTOM 82 = Great! I'll tell all that to my friend.

CUSTOM 89 = But I looked in the back of the book and that answer isn't right.

CUSTOM 31 = Do you have to hang up now? Well, let's continue this conversation at school, okay?
CUSTOM 32 = You're dreaming.
CUSTOM 33 = I dunno about that. Not this time.
CUSTOM 34 = Hmm, I'd like to, but I really have to get to this assignment. Ask me again?

CUSTOM 36 = Yeah, fine.
CUSTOM 37 = Okay!

CUSTOM 39 = It's bad enough to keep a girl waiting, but not showing up at all is almost inexcusable. I'll let it go this time. You weren't chasing some other girl, were you?
CUSTOM 40 = Yeah, I came. I can't believe myself sometimes.
CUSTOM 41 = Well, here I am. Shall we go?
CUSTOM 42 = <player>! I was afraid you might not come.

CUSTOM 78 = Um, what do you think of this perfume?
CUSTOM 79 = Yeah, I was thinking the same.
CUSTOM 80 = Never mind, I should be asking someone who can tell the difference between scents.
CUSTOM 81 = Do you think it's more important for a team to practice being at the plate or being out in the field? If you had to say which.
CUSTOM 82 = That's what the coach said, too. I guess I was wrong.
CUSTOM 83 = That's the opposite of what the coach said, so I dunno.
CUSTOM 84 = I got into another fight with my mom last night. Just what does it take to get on her good side?
CUSTOM 85 = Is that how your family gets along with each other? Interesting.

CUSTOM 89 = Yeah, but how do <i>I</i> remember all those words??
CUSTOM 90 = You ever been in a church? What do they do in there? Yeah, this is for another assignment. We have to study world religions now.
CUSTOM 91 = So is that why some people go to church? I guess it's different than I thought.
CUSTOM 92 = It sounds like you can't help me with this one.

CUSTOM 72 = <player>, where are you going?!
CUSTOM 73 = Hinami here! I felt like talking out of the blue. Were you doing anything?
CUSTOM 74 = <player>, who was that you were talking to? Was it a classmate?
CUSTOM 75 = <player>! You wanna come on a fun train ride with me?
CUSTOM 76 = Oh bummer, I have to get off here. Next time we gotta plan this so we both get off at the same stop!
CUSTOM 77 = <player>, listen to me.
CUSTOM 78 = I want to ask you which you think would look cuter on me. <i>This</i> or <i>this</i>. Take your time now, okay?
CUSTOM 79 = Yeah! That's what I was going to wear. You have great taste, <player>!
CUSTOM 80 = Do you really think so?? But my friends might be able to tell that it's out of style.
CUSTOM 81 = I want you to teach me a cool dance move! You know some, right?
CUSTOM 82 = Awesome! I'll use that! And let's go dancing some time. I want you to take me with you.
CUSTOM 83 = It looks like you made that up just now, <player>.
CUSTOM 84 = One of my friends told me that I say things that are "childish". Do I really say things that are childish? What should I say instead?
CUSTOM 85 = Thanks, <player>! I knew you'd be able to help me. Maybe when I'm an upperclassmen like you my juniors will ask me to help <i>them</i>! But I guess we can't be upperclassmen at the same time, huh?
CUSTOM 86 = But hold the horses, isn't that pretty much the same thing?
CUSTOM 87 = My dad says I should read more books, but books are boring.
CUSTOM 88 = Well, books aren't as much fun as manga, but I guess you're right.
CUSTOM 89 = That sounds so boring! I want to read manga instead.
CUSTOM 90 = Today before class my friends were talking about "spirit healing". What's "spirit healing"? Do you believe in that?
CUSTOM 91 = Hey, that's pretty neat! Thanks, <player>!
CUSTOM 92 = I guess I should ask Akari. She might know.
CUSTOM 93 = Boo, you're no fun. I'll ask you another time.
CUSTOM 94 = Yeah, I remember! Don't you remember, <player>? You were the one who picked the place!

CUSTOM 72 = Why are you leaving me?
CUSTOM 73 = <player>, hello? My spirits need to talk to you!
CUSTOM 74 = What? Who were you talking to?
CUSTOM 75 = You ride the train, too?
CUSTOM 76 = Farewell, <player>, I hope to see you again!
CUSTOM 77 = <player>,I was wondering...
CUSTOM 78 = <player>, this is embarresing.. but... which of these looks nicer?
CUSTOM 79 = That was what my spirits told me too! Thanks, <player>
CUSTOM 80 = Hmm... I don't know...
CUSTOM 81 = I think I might try and get in better shape... what stretches do I do?
CUSTOM 82 = That would be amazing!
CUSTOM 83 = I don't want to get hurt, <player>
CUSTOM 84 = My friend sent me this message... do you think she means that in a normal or a sarcastic way?
CUSTOM 85 = I think that would be better... thanks...
CUSTOM 86 = But what if she takes it the wrong way?
CUSTOM 87 = I have a maths problem... how do you solve x in relation to y?
CUSTOM 88 = Oh! I understand now! Thank you!
CUSTOM 89 = That is incorrect... I was relying on you...
CUSTOM 90 = I have to write a poem... and this is my creation... do you like it?
CUSTOM 91 = Thank you, I knew it'd be better that way!
CUSTOM 92 = Are you sure, my spirits told me otherwise.
CUSTOM 93 = It's okay... I'll just ask my spirits...
CUSTOM 94 = I always remember...
CUSTOM 95 = Don't forget, please!
CUSTOM 96 = I adore this place...
CUSTOM 97 = Not really... it's too... ugh...
CUSTOM 98 = It's okay... I suppose...
CUSTOM 99 = I love people true to themselves, and also smart...

CUSTOM 77 = <player>, there is a trivial question I need you to acknowledge.

CUSTOM 79 = I believe you are correct.
CUSTOM 80 = That one fails to attract any other men, according to my survey.
CUSTOM 81 = I want to impress Tsubasa, so which of these exercises should I do to keep fit?
CUSTOM 82 = Impressive knowledge.
CUSTOM 83 = That seems to be a terrible plan.
CUSTOM 84 = I had an argument with Tsubasa, so I need to ask what I should do?
CUSTOM 85 = Okay, either way, she must accept that's what I meant.
CUSTOM 86 = But she won't take that kind of answer easily.
CUSTOM 87 = Think in the mind of a suspect, would you hide a body at the scene of the crime, or far away?
CUSTOM 88 = Of course! How did I not see that?
CUSTOM 89 = I think you should ponder on that slightly more.
CUSTOM 90 = What is the point of spirituality, music and such? Do you think it's a waste of time?
CUSTOM 91 = What? I never thought about it that way, but still... you seem to be convincing me...
CUSTOM 92 = That just makes it seem even more bland and useless.
CUSTOM 93 = I'll research and interview others, instead.
CUSTOM 94 = Yes, I write everything down in my notebook.
CUSTOM 95 = Writing things down in one's notepad is always useful.
CUSTOM 96 = It's good for investigating.

Ayumi, let's re brief you on the case:
The victim was last seen before the incident in a petrol station, as spotted by witnesses and the security camera.
He checked his phone, and nodded, as if he knew it was coming. He nodded to the owner of the station, who let him leave
<b>without</b> paying for the petrol. The owner proceeded to text someone a half hour later, and smile. Strange, yes?
ID = 21
SHOW RIGHT
Very.
ID = 3
The victim proceeded to leave, where he was only said to be seen by his friend, however, no-one else
confirms this. The victim's car was muddy in both the driver's seat and the backseat. The victim then turned up at the main suspect's house, and was let in through
the backdoor, which was the only way the victim could've come. The victim was then killed inside the house,
with a kitchen knife that belongs to Ryuhei.
ID = 21
Hmm... this is all quite mysterious...

The suspect also said to defend himself during questioning, that he was knocked out by the victim.
He did have a bruise on his skull, but it's unsure if that would really knock him out.

I'm not really seeing anything inherently wrong with how it's coded. Which utterly baffles me! The banter between Tsubasa and Ayumi has me a bit worried, but, that's a more artistic concern, and I'll put it aside for now.
In regards to the profile changes, my guess is that your theory was that simply passing 4 into Suki's relation ID would not function (or you tried it, and it returned an error), and something to the effect of "4 in game_profiles.txt" would not (or did not) function. My suggestion on this point would be: Don't mess with game_profiles.txt, and just support the relations to the built-in content with your writing/STORYs.
Also, please be aware of the IDs you're using. Both Watanabe Junko (#9) and 21 Ways (#21) require the built-in content while Mitsuya Masako (#10) doesn't. All those characters are released, finished content. As for Torako Koizumi (#17), she is an unpublished character by Nekochi (the same person that made Watanabe Junko). With Sakuragawa Fuyuki (#20), she isn't listed in the all-in-one custom content download blog, and my notes simple say "in progress". Which... is a different matter altogether!
*Edit: For full disclosure, I laughed a bit at the passing reference to Lambaria Yuu in the fortune-teller event.

I know what you mean about Tsubasa's character being odd and unusual for her. Id edit it, but Im trying to focus on Miyuki's story currently.
Im not really sure what you mean by the second paragraph, so would I just include both game_profiles.txt AND the custom content file?
About the ID's, I may fix them later but right now all my 40kb worth of story sucns so Im not even sure if I will upload them :P Besides, which IDs are available anyway?
P.S. Thank you!

Right, sorry for not being clearer. You'd make a new profile for your content, and include that file along with game_profiles.txt in the story-file.

The list of IDs that are used/claimed can be found on the top of this page under a hide-tag. The heading reads like...
--> If you are writing story content that includes the appearance of existing characters (built-in or custom), the following list may be of reference
...so. Which reminds me, I haven't updated the list with Garage's content!

I think I worked out the Abnormal Error glitch so Ill fix it tommorw.
Is it possible to reserve the next 3 ID's? (Im working on 5 characters but they might fail...)
Thanks for your sharing of your story-file, I'm more okay with reserving IDs for you! If you only want to make three out of the five listed in the profile you shared, I would eventually like to know which ones will be in the package (assuming they are being packaged together). Or if you change your mind to do all five. Until then, I'll write in my notes that #92, #93, and #94 are reserved for RukasuWYZ.

It will most likely be:
Miyuki Itawa
Yuka Shogowa
Ayumi Shingoza/Suki Fujita
Chihiro Sato
(Im not sure about Ayumi simply because whenever I write as Tsubasa I feel like the way Im writing is not how the original character would say or do...)
Edit: For full disclosure, I laughed a bit at the passing reference to Lambaria Yuu in the fortune-teller event.
To be honest, I didnt download the Masako until after I started writing Miyuki, so I was devestated wben I found out it had already been done! There is a refermce to Izumi and Shoko too in the Chihiro storyline Im working on.
(After downloading Uchioniko, I though the Masakoextra file was a glitch because there was no masako in Uchioniko - this made me delete the file and now I feel stupid)

Fixed the "Abnormal Error" Problem, and transferred all of my characters to the file:
"Ijōna on'nanoko"
and then placed them into a text document called:
"nanako_profiles" (.txt)
However, on startup, after reading the built-in, as soon as it hits the custom content area, it says "Unable to find Ijona on'nanoko" (Without the accent on the o in the error).
What should I do?
:S
EDIT: It wouldn't read the accent, so retyping it out without the accent worked! Also, it cleared my Custom Content records with Yuka, Miyuki, Suki, Ayumi and Chihiro.

Hrm. The parser probably wasn't built to read special characters. As for the IDs, my proposal looks something like...
...this. Then, if you end up not writing anything for Ayumi, we can just take her off the list. How's that sound?
ID 92 = Itawa Miyuki {RukasuWYZ, unpublished}
ID 93 = Shogowa Yuka {RukasuWYZ, unpublished}

That would be great, thanks! I just realised how unbalanced my characters are in file size for their stories right now.
In ascending order:
Phone Conversations 2kb, Suki Fujita 3kb, Yuka Shogowa 7kb, Chihiro Sato 10kb, Ayumi Shingoza 11kb and then Miyuki Itawa 23 KB!
So, I just need to ask how to use the notepad++ syntax thingy... I downloaded it, but what exactly does it do? How do you use it, as well?
I think I'm going to attempt to make each file 35kb minimum before publishing them... is that too ambitious?
I don't think size should be a factor when attempting to write a story. Though, for the sake of comparison, I'm looking through the custom content story-files, and it looks like Joruri might have the smallest main-story file-size of 17KB while the main route of WolfPack is 104KB. In regards to the main routes, game_stories_15 is the smallest (at 28KB) while the biggest is game_stories_5 (at 140KB).
As for Notepad++, the general idea is to allow authors to write stories with Heartache's various code-vocabulary in a different color for the sake of visibility. Let's take an example from Masako's STORY 1. Under regular conditions, the header would look something like...
...that. With Notepad++ with Heartache's custom library enabled, it would look something more like...
...that? Though, for full disclosure, I'm going off sheer memory, and some details may be incorrect. However, I hope you get the general idea?

As a sidenote: file names should probably not contain anything fancy like "white spaces" I bet.
Since the space char is used to seperate stuff it is bound to break things.
Example: if you put your stuff in to a folder named "new characters" and name the profile "my profile.txt" then I am pretty sure that a story-file starting with
new characters/my profile.txt
Would be looking for three different Profile files. ("new" "characters/my" and "profile.txt")

I was on holiday so I didn't see any of this, but I'm thinking that if Miyuki I was to be released, I'd have to release Yuka and Suki at the same time, so it'll tAke a while.
EDIT: Marrend I'm depressed! Where are my ID Reserves?!?
EDIT: Marrend I'm depressed! Where are my ID Reserves?!?
Since you asked, RukasuWYZ - this how I created each of my tachie sets:
First I made a fresh copy of the same tachie generator which has been used for the built-ins, too.
Then I opened it with The GIMP.
As described in Mr. HelpFile, the "generator" is a multilayer graphic file that contains layers - grouped (roughly) by bodyparts having multiple versions for each part.
You should take a few minutes to make yourself familiar with these layers, if you are not used to it.
The basic idea is, that ALL variations of ALL parts are there in one single file. You just have to enable those parts that should be shown, and disable those you don't want to be shown. Note that there not only a group for Arms and a group for Chests - but also a group combining the two in one set of layers. IN fact there is yet another group for bare arms ...
The next, important, step is to recolor at least the hair, and in the case of my sets the eyes. You should recolor each of the different layers of hair to with the same parameters so you get a consistent look (well: unless you want some advanced special effects, of course - like having a blue ponytail and red bangs ...) - I used the tool "colorize" (I hope that is the correct english name for it).
After this you can design the haircut by enabling and disabling the different layers until it looks like "your girl".
You should save this as "name.xcf". Then I created the "name-neutral.xcf" version by selecting layers for eyes, clothing, arms and anything ...
The other expressions are simple: take "name-neutral.xcf" and adjust at least the layers for mouth, eyes, blush and eyebrows. For me it was easiest to go from neutral -> unfriendly -> dislike and neutral -> friendly -> like -> love ->lovesick ...
If you like and need it you might add other expressions which you will then assign to OTHER1 et alt.
Once you have a complete set of .xcf files you export each of them to a .png file. You should then resize the .png to the target hight of your character.
(I first resized before exporting ... the result is less desirable in some cases because the masks of some layers get messed up.)
Normally you should resize all the files of one set to the same hight, of course ;)
Since I kept all the .xcf files for all expresions of my characters I am able to easily edit them (like for example moving part of the hair behind the clothing as suggested by Marrend).

Some basic information:
- as mentioned in Mr. HelpFile you should definetly turn off the background - or your tachie would appear on a black box.
- You can disable and enable whole layer groups with just one click.
- The layers have to seperate functions: they are organising the content of the file (into bodparts) and they define the order in which things are drawn above each other. The lowest layer (Background) is drawn first, the top layer (Hair/Glasses) is drawn last and thus over every other layer.
- You can't combine any version of hair with every version of arms+chest. Look at Back_Long_Tail_Braided and its variations.
