The information below is for testers, but anyone with bug reports, suggestions, feature requests, etc is of course welcome to post here.

Thanks for offering to help test the game. I hope you enjoy playing it despite it's imperfect state! I'm eager to hear feedback and criticism on pretty much every aspect of the game, but especially the following:

1. Gameplay
I think this is the most important thing, because if the core gameplay isn't fun who will care that the characters can be customized? Testers, please play the game and tell me honestly what you think. What aspects are fun and what aspects could be more fun? How is the difficulty? What things would you do to improve it? Of course please report any bugs you encounter.

2. Customization
Please mess around with the customization features; there's bound to be plenty of bugs and issues I haven't considered. You don't need to create content you would ever share with others. Just play around and see if you can do the things you're supposed to be able to do. Try creating a character or two and writing a little bit of story for her. Again, what you write doesn't have to be anything serious, but see if things really work.

3. Story & writing
Please give me constructive criticism on the story and the writing for the built-in characters. What do you think of the characters? If there are bits that you think should be rewritten for any reason, please don't hesitate to tell me. I realize some of the story (including the premise) may be corny, so maybe you have suggestions on how it could be better? Of course also report any bad spelling or typos or anything else that's off.

4. Documentation
Is the help file which explains how to do all the customization stuff easy to read and easy to understand? Please tell me if any parts aren't clear. I want the customization process to be easy and fun as much as possible.

5. Any other suggestions you have!
Don't hold back. If you have something to say which could help me improve the game I want to hear it.

Well it seems that nobody yet has gotten a good ending (a non-generic ending). This tells me that it might be too difficult or maybe unfair?

A good ending requires:
1. The character is in a state of Love or Lovesick
2. You have completed her story route

Everyone seems to be doing well with the first requirement.
The second requirement is tricky because you have to make some correct choices along the way AND some of those choices require that you pass an attribute check. Attribute checks are in multiples of 10; either 20, 30, 40, or 50. (So if you get an attribute up to 50, you'll pass any checks involving it in story events)

I suppose the problem is that it's not clear what attribute checks are coming up for a given character. Also, with the longer stories, you might simply be running out of time to complete them.

For the next release I'm going to make it a little easier to pass attribute checks by making it easier to raise attributes. I might also add a means of getting in-game hints for characters.

I didn't intend to put out a new release so soon, but there really have been a sleugh of bug reports and changes in the last two days. Testers, please grab the new release (v0.4).

I should have mentioned this earlier but if you encounter a serious bug I'd be greatly appreciative if you can send me a save file prior to the bug's occurrence. The game autosaves each day during the status screen where you can spend orbs so you can use that file. There are a few bugs that have been reported now which I've not able to reproduce and seeing the save file could help me out a ton.

I can see myself tweaking this game and adding new features for awhile to come, or for as long as people are interested in it, but I'll stop calling it a beta when we get to the point where any new releases will not render saves and records incompatible. There are still a few changes I'm considering that could possibly do that.

Here's some of the ideas for new features in consideration:
- "mental notes" about a character can be reviewed
- generic event for walking to school together
- support for BxB (only if there is interest)
- support for dual character endings
- Mouse support
- additional mini-games

The top two of those will likely make it into the game in the near future.

The new version, among other things, finally fixes the "script is hanging" error which people with slow computer sometimes encounter after the ending before or during the credits roll. Well, I think I fixed it. If anyone still gets that error at the end of the game, please let me know! I don't have any older computers around the house with which to test it on.

Looks great ;)
Only thing I would change is to move "Reach the end of the board" closer to "to enjoy your afternoon", and "Hint: Try waiting." closer to "Some icons move on their own."

I'll try to think of something to put in the middle.

If we could snag that logo from the title screen, maybe scale it down, perhaps...

I'm exploring the possibilities as I type, but I'm not guaranteeing anything.

*Edit: Actually looking at the logo makes me think it would need some re-coloring to fit the graphical style of dude's help screen. Also, isolating the logo is more complicated than I had thought. Not quite giving up, yet!
It's okay, Marrend. We can add a new logo that doesn't look exactly the same.

Yeah, I think I was getting a bit too ambitious with this idea. I should arguably re-focus my energies on getting Uchioniko done.
Hello I recently started playing this game and I must say I'm hooked! I am constantly procrastinating on doing homework assignments just to fit a good hour or 2 to play this game! The difficulty is fairly good not too hard, not too easy. I can honestly say this game is going to be one of my favorites. The gameplay is nice I really like the board game movement and the characters are nice but I will say that I would like more choices for the player. By more choices I mean like instead of just a janitor could there be a way of job searching? Like if your mind stat is high you could work as a tutor, athletics= personal trainer ect. just to give a bit more player input and customization like having the jobs affect the story or something(just spit balling mind here) and maybe give variations of the player like a personality list that affect how the player interacts with the other characters like a charming persona having a slight looks bonus, talks in a flirty way ect. and I shall end my rant here as I would like to hear what you have to say about this first. All in all though it is a well made game scoring 4/5 on my scale.(I don't know much about programming so sorry if this seems a bit much)
^ Thank you for your feedback. It's much appreciated. I don't think I can come up with 4 new mini-games to accommodate different attributes or change the protagonist's personality according to attribute scores, but I agree those ideas would make the game better if they could be accomplished!
Question. Does this outline on the font make choices any easier to read?

On the blue of the dialogue box, it's barely noticeable, but the white and black text, it definitely adds to its visibility... but the white backing on the black font seems... not bad, just unusual.

Yeah, about that janitorial mini-game. With the "normal" version, I have been known to get pretty close to clearing the stage, though I think I was able to totally clear it once on my Tsubasa play-through way-back-when.

With the night version, the player characters just walks so damn slow. I know he doesn't want to make any noise, and generally be sneaky, but, I dunno. Id' rather have some kind of speed option, even if it only lasts a certain time. However, I'd understand if that's too hard to pull off. Although, saying this, there was the one time that I was patient enough to get all the toilet paper, but the stage didn't clear. I've not cleared the night version of the mini-game since (I've found my overall patience for that mini-game fade to oblivion, sadly. I've been making the stupidest mistakes, or just getting really bad luck.), so I have no idea if that bug is still in the game or no.
@flowerthief

Not really, did you use a bevel? I ask because it doesn't seem to be an even outline, the bottom and right side have no effect on them. Try a stroke fx for the text layer to see if it improves.

@marrend
yea them delinquent have the best eyesight ever. They see me from way across the board. It's a matter of memorizing the pattern though. Once you know it, it is easy to clear.

Perhaps it's my Metal Gear Solid player in me talking, but I think it would be cool if you could take those delinquents by surprise, and remove them from the board, somehow.

Yeah, that's probably more Metal Gear Solid than Heartache 101 - Sour Into Sweet.
About the outline, all I did was print the text twice, once in white and once in black off by one pixel up and one pixel to the side. If it doesn't improve readability I can undo it. I don't know what a stroke fx is but it's probably not something that can be done from RGSS.

About taking delinquents out by surprise, that is actually not a bad idea and one that I've had myself. I'm going to try to think of a way to implement it. Whatever I end up doing, it will probably not be an ability you start off with.
You can have a pill icon function as the super pellet that lets you "eat" the delinquents. Instead of eat, they disappear. Why a pill? Because we already have several pill references in game.

For the stealth game, give us pine scented air freshener that you use to blind a delinquent temporarily and you can move around them undetected for a time. Everyone knows janitors always use air freshener as their first line of defense against enemies.
On the character customiser, whenever i try to set OTHER1 as soon as I click 'apply' it closes the customiser without even letting me save

I've had the character customizer auto-close on me before, but I have a good idea why it auto-closed on me. On the chance that, perhaps, what is happening with you is similar to what I experienced, I would suggest attempting to move the graphic into the "Heartache 101/Tachie" directory, or a sub-directory thereof.

That is, of course, assuming that you're attempting to import a graphic that is not somewhere in the "Heartache/Tachie" directory.
I moved my pictures to the tachie sub directory but it still auto closes >.<

Whoa! I just tried to re-create Ruri, of Uchioniko fame, with a new profile. I imported her OTHER1 graphic well enough, but the program auto-closed when hit the "Apply" that's next to the "Browse" button.

Can we call this a bug? I think we can! Props to Animetor!
I was going to post it earlier on in the month but my internet crashed in the middle of doing it and I just forgot to post it
Thanks for the reporting that, and good to see you back.
Having received very little feedback about the customizer since I first released it, I wasn't sure if people were using it without problems or if they just weren't using it. Looks like it was mostly the latter! The bug will be fixed shortly.

@dude
Actually I have something more simple and less original in mind, but I do like the air freshener idea haha. Anyway, I'll be thinking about that. For now it's time for a new update....

I'm glad to be back, I missed this game and was really happy about the new customiser ^.^

Edit - Just used the updated version of the char. customiser and it works, I am in the LOVESICK state with this game
