THE Captain's Log #73 - We're back boys!

Hello, captain to the speak!

Dayum, it's been so long and I've been blogging in my site (not very often but yes). So as a silly little thing, and to feel that I have more to talk about than what I do have new, let's do a small recap. I will link my site because I have no decency!

The first thing, which happened about an entire year ago, was finishing up with widescreen. Game now runs either in 4:3 or widescreen. This setting is not smart so you gotta pick whichever you prefer. I also default to 4:3. Yes, in 2026.


Some maps required adjustments to work well with widescreen.


After finishing with widescreen I started working on features that had to do with the multi-party system. I'm calling it an actual system because it's a collection of features. This system is not available in the current version of the game, as it'll be covered in the "chapter 1". Current released version includes prologue only for now. Yes, 4 hours of prologue. I swear it's worth the setup. "orz

You control three parties all over the world, one at a time as traditional, but being able to change between them. This is meant to help you cover more ground when doing missions, instead of traveling back and forth between locations.


Yeah, you can say hi to yourself. Maybe one or two things more.


Your parties can "link up" when they're close (the handshake icon in the previous image). This allows parties to help each other in battle. What "help" means is basically the ability to swap the entire party on a sort of relay.


Should I bother with social links? Lol this game is endless...


There's also a new feature for helping parties arrive to destinations you need them to be. The autotravel allows for parties to travel automatically. This is meant to reduce the amount of micromanagement. Currently you can't have all parties on autotravel, and you can only do so with the parties that you are not controlling.


Yes there will be teleports later, I know this is a feature doomed. But I still felt like it was worth to do as QOL.

That's basically for now. Much of the work been things that either I can't show (all these are just FEATURES). Or things that aren't in game, and still work in progress, such as work on coming parts of the story, both as text drafts and WIP cutscenes and missions and so on. But yeah! I've been doing something.

Really reminds me of Sweet Home (the only game that reminds me of a similar mechanic), although hope it would make some encounters interesting.
