Week of Updates: Day 4

WEEK OF UPDATES: DAY 4
Today I'll be going over the additions to the item list and talking a bit about the increased importance of Synthesis.
ITEMS
I had previously made a bunch of items that replicated spell effects, but left a ton of them out as well. I fixed that, and almost every spell now has a corresponding usable item. Each item is also used in Synthesis recipes to create new Augments. Most of the components that existed before that were enemy drops have been cut (Bone, etc.). Oddly enough, the item list is still set at the same number of items that existed before: 255. Item drop rates for enemies have also been improved significantly, to ensure that collecting enough items to Synthesize new Augments won't be too much of a grind.
A lot more Synthesis Manuals have been added to accommodate the rise in the amount of items that can be Synthesized.
SYNTHESIS
Synthesis will be unlocked almost immediately now (as soon as you get out of Palamecia). Synthesis Manuals can be obtained in various ways, and each contains several recipes to create usable items or Augments. Synthesizing items no longer costs Gil, either. You only need the required items.
All Augments require a catalyst to to create. There are a few different items that count as catalysts, like Mythril and Scarletite. Catalysts can be purchased, but are very expensive. They can also be found in chests or dropped from certain enemies.
TOMORROW'S UPDATE
The final update of the week will cover anything I haven't gone over yet and the game's next official release.

With so many items available, maybe you can have more subcategories in the Item menu to make things easier to manage. According to one of your images, you only seem to have All and Battle as options.
This should totally appease Noel's incessant FFXIII fetish, with the Scarletite. Kidding, of course, Noel, you know we're chums.
Also, 255 is too damned perfect. Quit being so efficient.
Other than those two comedic interludes, you're project is shaping itself into something entirely dynamic and I hope to see your effort rewarded with praise and admiration, as it should be. Unless Sephiroth is the final boss and you sold us all out.

I actually haven't given a ton of thought as to who the final boss will be. Not sure if I should use a pre-existing final boss or go with something new. Some of the older final bosses will definitely be in the game, though.
Zeromus is one of the final challenges of the Battle Arena in the Gold Saucer, for example.

I vote for something unique for the final boss, I know this is a game to untie the Fantasies but it would be cool to end it on something thats entirely WC.

Obviously you're inclined to do whatever it is that you want, so our input is more for fun ha ha. When I think about it, Chaos would be more of a sell out than Sephiroth. Cause, you know, lifestream. How'd he get there? Lifestream. Why? Lifestream. It truly just writes itself ha ha.
I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be delivered expertly, as you don't seem the type to take a steaming pile of FFIX and dump it on us.
Oh I promise the player will be introduced to the main villains long before the en of the game. None of that "Hi I'm Necron the real bad guy" shit here.

Ha ha that's all I wanted to hear. Not to mention that the entire story was essentially Dragon Ball Z. Child with monkey tail goes to planet to destroy it, loses memory. Older brother with monkey tail comes to planet to destroy it, promptly fights with younger brother.
But that's besides the point, I'm happy to hear you plan on actually allowing the villain to develop as a character.
