Aeon Magic

Since the Summon command has been changed to be usable by all characters when equipped with Nethicite Aeons, Ellie lost her Command Ability and thus, a new one had to be made for her.

So, I have added in a new type of magic called Essence Magic, and with each Aeon Ellie obtains, she will also gain a new magic spell relevant to that new Aeon.

Essence Magic
  • Curasa: Obtained from Seraphim. Restores the HP of a single target. The amount of HP restored is based on the HP of the caster. This spell can break the damage limit.
  • Daze: Obtained from Ultros. Deals magical damage on a single target and may inflict Stun.
  • Ruin: Obtained from Bahamut. Deals magical damage on a single target. This spell can break the damage limit.
  • Bravery: Obtained from Gilgamesh. Increases the Attack Power of a single target by 20%.
  • Faith: Obtained from Carbuncle. Increases the Magic Power of a single target by 20%.
  • Veil: Obtained from Alexander. The entire party is granted immunity to debuffs (status conditions causing decreases in parameters are unaffected).
  • Curse: Obtained from The Magus Sisters. Inflicts Curse on a single target.

Only Aeons which are usable with Ellie's Call command will grant a new spell, with one exception. Aeons gained by equipping Nethicite do not carry any Essence Magic.

When Bahamut is upgraded to Bahamut Fury, the Ruin spell is upgraded to Impulse, which acts the same with higher damage output.

That's White Wind, not Curasa. Curasa is heals more when the target's HP is low. :<

This sounds nit-picky but you ARE trying to make an FF fangame where you cram everything in whether it works or not. Might as well keep it truthful. :<

Er, where does it say it acts the same as White Wind? It acts the way it's supposed to.

White Wind has always healed the party based on the caster's HP. This Curasa says that it heals an ally based on the caster's HP. That's not how Curasa works. :<

http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Curasa
The caster's HP reflects how much HP is restored to the target. That's Curasa in this project. White Wind has a set healing value. This does not. Curasa simply gains strength if the caster's HP is lower. Why would the spell heal based on the target's HP? There'd be no reason to ever use it unless they were low on health or at least significantly damaged.

I guess I could always throw a minimum spell power level in there to make sure it's always a viable healing option (on the same level as Cura, let's say) and keep the "increases in power with HP level" aspect of it.

Thoughts?

That's how Curasa worked. In the games it is from (FFXIII/XIII-2), it heals more when the target is heavily damaged. A full ATB bar for a Medic taking care of a heavily injured character (which happens a lot due to the paradigm shift system and general difficulty of the games) usually looked like Curasa/Curasa/Cure/Cure/Cure/Cure or somesuch.

The reason I'm being so adamantoise about this is that you're making an FF fangame that puts a lot of FF stuff into one game. For people familiar with FF, having a spell or ability not do what it normal does is, well, unintuitive and diminishes the appeal of this game as a fan project.

Do spells "correctly" or call them something else entirely. If you were doing a completely different project I would have no issue with that skill if it were named Vital Aid or whatever -- but this is Final Fantasy.
Hrm, good point. Maybe I'll have Priscilla's Mixed Herbs heal this way and Curasa the normal way it's supposed to.
Also, I'm stupid and mixed up Carbuncle and Alexander in the original blog post. Alexander grants Faith, and Carbuncle grants Veil.
