Passive Abilities have been reworked to a set of abilities that are more balanced, and in some cases, situational.

Red Magic Updates
- The status conditions Freeze and Stop no longer cause a Game Over if the entire party is inflicted with them at the same time. Freeze and Stop now wear off naturally after five turns.
- All permanent playable characters now have a special Passive Ability that is either always active or activates under certain conditions.
- Relics that automatically grant status conditions now automatically apply the states at the start of a battle, rather than passively grant the status conditions over and over where they cannot be removed. For example, the Marvel Shoes will grant Protect, Shell, Haste, and Regen at the onset of a battle, but these states will still wear off naturally when they are supposed to and can be removed with Dispel. This applies to enemies with passive status conditions as well.
Passive Abilities (NEW!)
Passive Abilities have been reworked to a set of abilities that are more balanced, and in some cases, situational.
- Flee: Cid's new Passive Ability. The party has an increased chance of a successful escape in battle.
- Battle Fury: Reeve's new Passive Ability. When Reeve's HP is lower than 25% of his maximum, he is automatically granted immunity to the Jump cooldown for three turns.
- Channeling: Vicks' new Passive Ability. When Vicks heals an ally to full health, she automatically regenerates 10% of her Max HP.
- Energize: Wedge's new Passive Ability. Wedge regenerates 5% of his Max MP when he uses elemental Black Magic against an enemy weak to that element.
- Jackpot: Parker's new Passive Ability. Upon landing a Critical Hit, Parker automatically regenerates 3% of her Max HP.
- Attuned: Ellie's new Passive Ability. Ellie starts each battle with Refresh, regenerating 5% of her Max MP each turn for three turns.
- Scholar: Dajh's new Passive Ability. The remaining HP of each enemy is displayed while Dajh is in the party.
- Dark Past: Cecil's new Passive Ability. Cecil is immune to Dark-elemental damage.
- Loudmouth: Lyra's new Passive Ability. Lyra is immune to Silence.
- Chemist: Stiltzkin's new Passive Ability. The effectiveness of usable items is doubled when Stiltzkin uses items. This does not apply to his Stash abilities.
- Initiative: Priscilla's new Passive Ability. Priscilla has a high probability of acting first in battle.
- Retort: Beclem's new Passive Ability. Beclem has a 25% chance of countering any physical attack targeting him.
- Divinity: Leon's new Passive Ability. While his HP is 100% full, Leon is immune to Debuff effects. This does not apply to status conditions that lower parameters, however.
- Reflexes: Kelger's new Passive Ability. Kelger's Limit Break is charged by 10% when he evades any attack.
Item Updates
- The item, Data Mine, has been added. When used on an enemy, it has the same effect as the Red Magic spell, Scan.
Relic Updates
- Rabanastre Logbook (changes Dajh's Study command to Analyze) has been removed, as it no longer serves any purpose now that Dajh automatically senses the HP of all enemies when he is in the party.
Red Magic Updates
- The Red Magic spell, Valor, now applies Bravery status instead of the Valor status, which has the same effect. This is to prevent stacking 50% increases in Attack Power. The status condition Valor has been removed.
