Obama RPG Disk 1 Is Out! GO GET IT! RAAAHHH!!!

After so long, and many hours of going through fixing bugs and adding some last minute things to really spice up the experience, I am proud to announce to that the first Disk of Obama RPG is ready to download!


NOW! Before you play, a few things to keep in mind.

1. ABSOLUTELY 100% DO NOT USE YOUR SAVE FROM THE DEMO. I deleted the demo. It's super outdated. Features in the final game will screw up things if you try to use the save from the demo. And anyways, you'll miss some new funny moments, and we wouldn't want that, now, would we?

2. Keep your save after you finish this disk! If I'm right, I can get it so that you can carry it over to the second disk. So, you won't have to start with some default stuff in place of your massive hordes of cash and items.

3. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED by the difficulty of the last boss of the disk. It's a tough battle, I know. You'll probably find yourself expending most, if not all of the items you have. The fight will make you sweat. It's the final boss of the disk, so it's final boss-level difficulty. The boss fights in disk 2 will NOT all be hard like that.

OK, now that all that's out of the way, I hope you guys enjoy, and remember, I'm really excited to get some feedback, so I want you guys to tell me what you think. You help me, and I can help the game. Capisce?



One last thing...I've got a poster I spent a few days working on for the second disk of the game. I'm going to throw a link to it up, since it's too big for you to see it here in this little blog post space. It has some spoilers for disk 1, so you might want to finish it before you look, unless you really don't care.

That's it. Thanks for the support, guys, and I'm going to now take a break for a few days, a week, something like that. I've been doing nothing but Obama RPG for a good week and a half, so I think I deserve some rest, now.

If everything goes smoothly, my Let's Play should begin tomorrow!

EDIT: Things stopped going smoothly as soon as I entered the first battle. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Ooh, I don't like the look of that. I'm going to see if I can figure out what the problem is. You DO have the RPG Maker 2003 RTP, right?

Edit: I just downloaded it on another computer and tried it out, and it worked. Hmmm...You didn't use a save from a demo, right? What did you use to extract the files?

I'll tell you what, I'm going to reupload the RTP version. before I uploaded the game I extracted the files and rezipped them, so maybe that was a problem? I won't do that next time.

Do me a favor and try downloading the re-uploaded version?

Man, I'm freaking out over here. Can ANYONE ELSE tell me if they're having problems, or if it's just Desmo? If it's just Desmo, it would make me feel somewhat better, but I'm flipping out, because I don't know what to do, other than what I just said.

Hold up, I did notice one glitch. When you say "first battle" does that mean after the first political battle and the first forced battle? Because I noticed a glitch, there.

I don't know what else to do, man, so I'm uploading a fixed version without the glitch. Otherwise, it runs fine on my other computer that doesn't have RPG Maker 2003 on it. I'm so sorry.

PLEASE, someone else tell me if this works for them or not. I NEED to know if this is an isolated incident or not.

EDIT: I have found the problem! Its the song 'dark dance'. Even when I try to play it in the editor, it says 'NOT IMPLEMENTED' and shuts down. I'm assuming that this isn't the only mp3 causing issues, too.

EDIT 2: I went through all of the mp3's and determined that only 'dark dance' and 'the fight' cause this issue. Perhaps this issue doesn't affect you because you're using a patch that I don't have? If so, could you send me the patch? Otherwise, I would recommend changing these two MP3 files to MIDI or WAV files.

EDIT 3: I fixed it for myself with a patcher called Disharmony. Now I can finally record that LP.

I had to leave to go somewhere, tonight, so I was SO worried about this. This game is my baby, so I couldn't stop thinking about it, and I was pulling my hair out for three hours. I'm going to go ahead and change those files to WAV files and reupload this. Are you sure that will fix things?

Edit: Actually, I'm going to just take those songs out completely and replace them, then do one final upload. I just realized that I have the Mario and Luigi Partners In Time boss theme on there that I don't actually use, so that'll replace dark dance, nicely. The Fight I just won't play at all. I'll make an announcement once I finish everything. That way I don't even have to worry about it. This should fix it. Thank you so much, both for the LP and for helping to find the problem. I was at my wits end, and was out of ideas. Man, I'm including you in the credits.
