PATCH ::..
This patch fixes the port tile passability bug and turn count bug in the Settlers of Kentan puzzle:
http://rpgmaker.net/games/4531/downloads/4047/
Download the file and extract it into the Data folder of the game, overwriting the existing map file.

OVERVIEW ::..
Welcome to the sixth installment of the beloved community puzzle game: Befuddle Quest: The Next Generation. We have upgraded the engines to maximum power: RPG Maker VX Ace - the next generation in RM.

MISSION LOG ::..

Crew members participating in the away mission made a single-map puzzle in RPG Maker VX Ace. The mission commander, Captain Kentona, then linked the maps into a single project.

For new recruits unfamiliar with the Befuddle Quest mission structure, please read the past mission logs, starting here: http://rpgmaker.net/games/1101/

STORY ::..
Humanity is on trial, and only Zack can save us!

Years since his last adventure (wherein Zack solved the riddles of time after a teleportation machine malfunction trapped his wife Broomhilda in time), Zack and Broomhilda were enjoying a nice picnic when all of the sudden a starship flies above and beams Zack and Broomhilda aboard!

An advanced alien race has condemned humanity to extermination, as they are quite guilty of backwardness and barbarism. However, these omnipotent beings are nothing if not merciful and have given humanity a chance: Zack must prove humanity's worth by completing a series of puzzling engagements on the starship's holodeck. If successful, the aliens will agree to allow humans to exist.

Beam me up, O'Brien! (BQ6 is complete)

This game (slightly overdue) is now complete. Play now!

Hopefully this community puzzle game isn't as disappointing as I fear. The fanfare and interest in the game this go-round seemed lackluster to me, even though in the end we did get 12 submissions. Maybe I am expecting to much? Probably.

Anywho, here are the submissions. (If I didn't see a name associated with a submission, I made one up for it):

Jude - Filter Circuits
kentona - Settlers of Kentan
GreatRedSpirit - A Thing Happened
Avee - Deadly Invaders
Rachael - Mirror Cavern
thatbennyguy - Keying In
Liberty - Ancestry
Bobhostern - Avoision
Gibmaker - Tile by Error
Marrend - Drawcab Monks
Caz - Chappy and the Intercom
Hexatona - FLASHDUEL

Now for my award ceremony...

because this is THE NEXT GENERATION!

(real reason: because I wanted it to be Ace)

Plus, the Ace adoption rate is pretty high.

Only 2003 works on my computer though...
So, some people (1 person actually) has expressed an interest in an expanded standalone Settlers of Kentan. I can do it if there is real interest in this.

You'll need to fix your call event script then. It's already really sluggish on that small map and will get worse for every settlement node you add with the current way it works.
It was Yanfly's call event script. I can't make sense of it (yet)

The problem with it is it's loading map data from the hard drive twice for every single event call, and since you're dong like a dozen of them in rapid succession it bottlenecks. I don't think Yanfly anticipated the call event script being used in this fashion. My suggestion is to add a quick comparison to check if the map ID has changed and only load map data if it has changed.

I would be exceptionally interested in this.

I've run into a couple of quick exit problems. I used the item during settlers of Kentan, and all the stats at the top left stayed there for the rest of the game, increasing randomly, even to the hundreds. I later tried quick exiting Flash Duel. This sent my character back, but stuck in the battle stance, facing right, and walked around facing this same direction. This prevented me from selecting another trial.

I've always had my eyes on this community project! I'M GONNA BEAT THIS ONE GUYS
this game was in the front page so i gave it a try. i saw it has over 200mb size i was excited to play it but after spending at least 3 hours and finished playing all the mini games, i was like "is that it?" "is that all it has to offer?". SUCH AN OVERRATED GAME!! FCK YOU FOR MAKING ME PLAY A GAME SO BORING IT DESERVES TO BE BURNED AND BURNED OVER AND OVER AGAIN SO THAT NO ONE SHALL EVER DARE MAKE ANOTHER ONE!!
by the way i like settlers of kentan the only worth while mini game in this stupid game. why don't you guys make a separate game for the settlers of kentan. i assure you it would be way more interesting than THIS TRASH THAT IS A WASTE OF TIME..

I wish that I was clever enough to have made those posts as an alt account. It would have been brilliant.

Also, pintelpen, sorry for MAKING you play a game that you found to be BORING. It will never happen again, I promise.

Having played every Befuddle Quest, I had to play this one too.

I liked it, most puzzles were good, but I felt there was a shortcoming of enthusiasm and will in this new chapter.

Other than having a bunch of puzzles/maps created by the rmn community it didn't feel like a Befuddle Quest to me.
Puzzle collab series. Features puzzles that I have never seen in any other RPGMaker game. Because it's a collab, it's obviously better to comment on each puzzle separately.

Jude - Filter Circuits
Colored lazer puzzle that I have seen before in an FPS game. Nicely done, maybe a bit simplistic. (But I bet its not simplistic to make)

kentona - Settlers of Kentan
Based off a board game that I personally didnt like very much, its a huge RNG fest and extremely slow. You'd have to be a decent player in that board game to have fun playing this.

GreatRedSpirit - A Thing Happened
Trial and error door switches. Reminds me of retro puzzle games.

Avee - Deadly Invaders
Dodge retro space invaders. Nicely designed, no overly complicated patrol patterns, and not too easy.

Rachael - Mirror Cavern
Never seen this one before. Had to reset several times to figure it out. And by figure it out i mean stumble on the solution.

thatbennyguy - Keying In
Extremely simplistic series of fetch quests with some puzzles involving spikes. Walk on the spikes when they are up isnt very intuitive though

Liberty - Ancestry
Just press all the switches?

Bobhostern - Avoision
Trapped him near the spawn. Sat there for 50 seconds.

Gibmaker - Tile by Error
A really cool puzzle mechanic, but I felt it was maybe a bit TOO long. 5-step clusters? For some reason I was doing the same wrong thing 5 times and not even realizing it.

Marrend - Drawcab Monks
I suck at riddles, so I just went and checked the first 3 letters, then guessed the answer.

Caz - Chappy and the Intercom
Unexpected twist on the typical boulder push puzzles. Pretty interesting, but this section felt kinda out of place with the other sections due to the bigger emphasis on dialogue, whereas the other sections had basically no dialogue.

Hexatona - FLASHDUEL
The worst one, unfortunately. Also RNG heavy and heavily punishes new players. I run out of cards fast and loose immediately afterwards. Also it froze the game at some point.

I'm glad they dont need me to do ALL the puzzles to get to the end, because that would be massively annoying. Not a fan of RNG puzzles either. That really isn't the best idea ever. But, wait. Whatever happened to Befuddle quest 7: advent children?

Oh man I worked so hard on Flash Duel...

BQ7 is kentona's private shame. People sent in some puzzles for it, but kentona got too busy to string them all together and now we all make him feel bad about it every once in a while.
