Frequently Asked Questions

How does this relate to Because We're Here ~ Mohnblume und Blauerose?
Well, it's in the same world, at the same time, and deals with the same overarching Great War plot. The majority of Because We're Here concerns Wessling and Leyland, but smaller countries like Etgoes still get a look in - and a lot of the names and faces in NotEC get a mention at those times. That, and there's an incredibly-minor, blink-and-you'll-miss-him character in NotEC that becomes quite a major character in Because We're Here.

How does this relate to the 2009 RM2k3 release of Notes on the Second Mellynd War?
I’d say that that that release is now very outdated. But there’ve been a lot of changes in terms of character, plot and general lore (as well as severe graphical enhancements and also me having learned how to actually make a game). In general, disregard anything you might have remembered until it is confirmed by the new games. NotEC isn’t exactly intertwined with the story of NotSMW, in any case - it's a standalone prologue. And NotSMW's future is now very uncertain, hah.

Orson's statistics are a little, um... Is there... Have I done something wrong?
Entirely in tune with his personality, Orson is the weakest playable character in the game. Play your cards right with combat affinities, though, and he may be equivalent to any other character on a bad day!

I’m in {anywhere from the Centre onwards} and I’ve just reached the level cap. Is this normal?
Yep, that’s intentional. If you don’t have at least Orson at level 10 before you enter the last dungeon, I’d be very surprised.

How vital is it to search all of the barrels, crates etc.?
Barrels, crates and so on give a little environmental flavour, but it's definitely not necessary to examine all of them. They can give you items, but only very rarely and never anything important. It's the brown care packages that are the 'chests' of the game.

It crashed. This game is a sham.
The game has - very occasionally - been known to crash at the beginning of certain scripted battles, as well as, slightly more commonly, when multi-target techniques are used. The latter occurence seems to be predominantly when using them against a single foe. If you find yourself getting this error, perhaps use those skills sparingly (especially when faced with a single enemy) - and, as good general advice anyway, remember to save often. I'm sorry about these if they do happen, anyway - not much I can do. Sorry about that. It's just RM2K3.

Which maps did Ultima187 help you with?
You can probably tell just by looking! (I’ll give you a hint: they’re all towns (and one is called Bredfort, one is called Eindall and one is called Burr (that may have been too subtle a hint, but you’re getting no more out of me))).

I finished it. Is that the only ending?
Yes. :D
