13 days before I am supposed to 'celebrate' being on this site for 7 years, i've decided to leave rmn as well. having grown uncomfortable with the circle-jerkers ( aka the devs whose games get the most attention and all their friends ) and the few rotten apples here, it's simply become an unhealthy place for me to hang around.
while i won't be posting here anymore, i'd like to stay in contact with some of the members here by ways of building an e-mail list ( yes, it's a little different from the usual chatrooms like discord/skype, but i see them as massive timesinks. i never get anything done ) informing subscribers about my future projects. so... if you're interested, drop me a pm and we'll see where the road takes us. the simple gesture would mean a lot to me, because it shows that some of you still care. who knows? maybe you'll get a surprise or two.
maybe.
maybe some of you hate me for broken promises i couldn't keep, maybe some of you lost your respect for me because I couldn't keep doing what I loved to do. or maybe some people just hated on Enelysion because it became popular...
who knows? it doesn't matter anyway.
i'm going to keep on being a creative workaholic.
So long, and keep gaming
i was always too serious for this place, anyway

Alright, gonna have to say a few things here:
1- Corfaisus got banned. He didn't leave. This is partly due to his behaviour and attitude but also due to stuff behind the scenes.
2- I'm rather sick of the pity party when this game was one of the better known ones on the site. When doing Best of Blogs, every blog that came from this game CONSISTENTLY got many more posts and attention than any other games. Granted, luchino writes some pretty great blogs, but there were other games that did the same that saw not even one or two posts on them.
3- People make friends. People check out their friends games. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. This talk of 'circlejerking' is pretty stupid considering that the same people who are accused of it are the ones who actually go on new gamepage profiles and talk about those games. If they were truly 'circlejerkers' they'd be only going to their own games and expecting their friends to only support them and their games.
4- luchino has obviously outgrown the site. That's fine. People grow at their own rates and there's nothing wrong with being dissatisfied with the attention you're getting on your games. Trying to blame others for that because you're jealous of any attention they get is wrong, though. Grow up.
5- Pom. Pom is a great little game. It's cute, it's got dogs, it's got internet speak and it appeals to a very big audience. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The only reason it gets hate (and as much attention as it does) is because it got played by someone super popular. Got an issue with that? Go onto the forums of other youtubers and see if you can't get them to play your game. Go share your game on tumblr and imgur and reddit and twitter and all those other lovely places where people can find it. There's other sites to show your game off on in the hopes of drawing more attention, so do that. You might be surprised.
6- Isn't this like the 10th "I'm leaving" topic/blog/etc post you've made since you arrived on RMN? Just an observation.
luchino, if you read this - I think you have a lot of promise but I also think your attitude can be a bit silly sometimes. I've 'known' you since before RMW and you've come a long way during that time but one thing that has always bugged me a bit about you was how you were happy to throw blame on other people for your own inadequacies. You do try, sometimes, to live up to your own hype and I do respect that, but you do tend to overhype your own abilities a bit. I think maybe a break from RMN will do you good, though. Go out there and explore the interworld a little, show people your game, garner opinions and listen to not only those saying "This is great" but also those who say "Yeah, this needs some work."
Good luck. Hope to see you back here in the future.

author=suzy_cheesedreamsAlso speaking from experience, if you're leaving you don't give a shit about how you present yourself to the community anymore. Also there's no really good way to leave, the forum aint gonna change for big names it aint gonna change at all, when I say big names I don't mean me, most of my games were lucky to get 100 profile views if even that.
I don't see the constructive point in doing it this way, though, as it's ultimately detrimental to yourself.
And the site does unfairly circlejerk games and I don't think anyone really denies that at this point. I was aware and pretty much complacent with it from the beginning because that's sadly just how the world works, I mean one of the RMN taglines, 'come for the recognition, realize you'll never attain it'.
And PentagonBuddy said it best, 'You're better off complaining about it elsewhere.', yeah, because no one here listens at all. I sure fucking didn't and shitty posts like this:
This proves that you're just an attention whore.Outline exactly why.
Like I was called an attention whore too and I didn't hold a candle to this games ratings, by Kau, by Mawk, basically idiots who actually didn't make games and had no place talking shit in the first place.
If there's any one insult this forum loves to throw around its this one, and it's hypocritical because rpgmakernetwork is first and foremost a game publishing archive, it's purpose is just that, to get attention for your games. I always ignored these posts because in virtually every case I remember the people making them had little to zero makerscore, i.e., they had no experience and didn't know what effort it was to make a game just to have no one react to it, I faced issues not with the content of my feedback, but the lack thereof, which is why i think i enjoyed the screenshot and whatchu working on threads so much
as for corfaisus i assumed he left, that said i didn't have a lot to go on, was searching through his post feed for something, anything that could help me locate him, maybe i'll just google search and see how that goes
i dont even know luchino well and we rarely spoke so I've no interest in defending her or her game, and i don't really care about this sites take on circlejerking anymore since i don't have to be around to acknowledge it, i feel its kinda hopeless to try and abate that it happens though
literally every time i checked the front page pom was there, and usually some other big names too
this site does cater to big content, start-outs are basically listless unless they manage to catch the attention of someone in a position of power, i.e. have the admins like you or you may as well just give up, that's a bad system and it is a circle-jerk. there's literally no backpedaling out of it the proof is there blinding as day
I'm a jerk sometimes, I'm not gonna deny it, but I'm good at what I do, I've had real life entrepreneurs ask why I'm not charging for these things?? I've had live people play and enjoy the dickens out of my games, I've had a public showcase to affirm that my games were pretty damn good.
i got more views and feedback out of one night at a student showcase (that I sorta wasn't meant to have a table at but i managed to anyway!) than I ever did on my game pages, and I'm sure other minors around here who haven't gone and established favor with the moderation team may have similar stories, I know I'm not alone in feeling this way, and of course the admins and mods are gonna downplay these claims because they're the ones who suffer if they have a chance to come to light.
in other words yeah, if your looking for a fair distribution platform you can do lot better than RMN, but you can also do a lot worse. Personally I'd recomend Itch.io or IndieDB.
I'm happy for people to have success, I never chastised anyone else for having a bigger following than I, Luchino has shown herself talented from what I can tell. But it feels like you're fighting a losing battle gaining prominence here because the prominency (i made up this word just now) is already basically set.
The admin team will say otherwise because they're the ones who allowed it to become that way in the first place.
A person's talent in game design should not be brought down by their social status or standing with high ranking board members. It's unprofessional to be biased about it like that, but that's exactly what happens here.
Tell me when someone who has a bad public record on the forums has a high rating game on the front page for more than the two seconds it takes to be buried by bumps and systematic upmoves/bumps from people with big games.
Once you gain popularity here you basically have a hard time losing it because every time someone does something on your page you get bumped, every time a response or review is offered, you get bumped, on this forum it's sort of like the veteran privelege, and if some people dont like you, well good luck ever making it here, because this place has the biggest emphasis on circlejerking there is, I'm not talking friends coming to check it out I'm talking the fact that popularity and marketing is mostly done for you once you get big.
Thats the reason a lot of people get nasty about games that do well here, personally I don't have problems with the games, just the systems that publicize them
firstly its unfair on newer starters because they fight a war they cant win, there's no 'equal opportunity' and thats a fucking lie on this forum.
Secondly its unfair on devs of the bigger games because they're getting personal attacks which stems from jealousy, which isn't entirely their fault.
Anyway, I hope you're all real proud of yourselves.
What the fuck is up with this website lately. Either people are just getting way too sensitive or it's just too many personality clashes going on. Also the staff are really nice people here, this circlejerking shit just comes off as almost conspiracy theory level.
If a game gains popularity it's because people either noticed it, or it's built up a fan base slowly, well known creator. Most of the time it's because it just looks really nice.
I just wanna see evidence of this unfair treatment that everyone mentions, it's just fucking bullshit. In the case of this game... I really don't know, it's quite popular!

I respectfully disagree.
Nobody here is truly toxic here, otherwise there'd be a shit ton of infighting(there isn't). It's hot oil and water honestly: some folks can't work together, and it can get malicious between them in some of the worst cases; but it doesn't mean they're malicious in general. That's human: It'd be scarier if were a 100% cooperation rate amongst us; it's an inevitable occurrence to come across a person you can't cooperate with. Even more natural for it to happen in an insular niche community as this one, as the variance in personalities is smaller. Blaming the Boogeyman of toxicity only serves to stir the pot, and serves to form actual divisive and toxic attitudes towards hashing out your grievances with others to the point of irreconcilability. Naturally you can take this with a grain of salt *points at makerscore* I say this all with more forum/interpersonal experience as opposed to RM community experience.
Luchino and thine-self have my sincere best wishes on you alls' respective endeavors. And if either of you were to return I can at least guarantee that I'd try to come to a mutual understanding to with whatever grievances you got with me(if there are any... I haven't really interacted with either Luchi or you, not that I know of :p).
NINJA EDIT: I was going to originally have your post quote as a *snip* but it appears you've made a more caustic edit to your post, so I copied the previous post in full. I still stand by this post 100%, with this addendum:
I think it's very unfair and disingenuous to call a userbase toxic and imply it's hostille/antagonistic, and to lambast such things while having a hostile, antagonistic tone and implications in said post. You are only making the spilt milk sourer... why not help clean it up? If you didn't care about this community, you wouldn't have posted anything.
EDIT2:anybody not getting feedback or popularity here would not have their problem assuaged by to indiedb or itch. If anything, it'd only get lost in a sea of vaporware and not so geat RM games.I guess itch is the lesser of two evils because you can buy commercial games right on the site, but indiedb has no such saving grace. It'd be better to use gamejolt while linking your own site(if feasible) and social media like youtube, facebook, twitter etc. for project updates. I feel bad because I actually suggested the former two to Luchi(?) without realizing how 'Eeccchhhh' they are.
Who is Pepsidoe? Cause it really seems like it's corf. An account made right after he gets banned. Saying a lot of shit that corf would. Going on and on and on.
Actually, that was bizarremonkey aka bowelmovement.
oh... I thought it was pepsiotaku for a split-second, but immediately realized that would-

I just can't take BM's words here seriously at all, though, as he's been a major source of toxicity wherever he goes, evident by the fact that he's been banned from several major sites including this one.
When multiple sites ban you for your behavior, then maybe that's an indicator that you're doing something way wrong. BM talks like he's moved on from this behavior, but the very fact he's ban-evading just to ramble some more proves otherwise.

This post isnt targeting anyone, just the forums in general, and I feel like trying to change it is also a sort of lost cause, so I dunno enjoy the continued rotting I guess, it ain't getting any better. Like I said I can't even say who would be at fault, but evidently it hasn't ceased with my erasure, in fact its only gotten noticably worse.
I agree with some of your post but I have to disagree with you there; there's nothing inherently wrong with RMN and it's quite stupid of you to suggest RMN's underlying design leads to these issues. It doesn't have to be this way.
(In fact, I'm aging myself here, but I've seen this community go through far worse over the past decade.)
The staff and admins have the power to change the general atmosphere of this place if they care enough to do so. They need to listen to those who have criticisms (or feel provoked into leaving like Luchino), not bury their heads in the sand. Compare RMN when WIP and Holb were running things, or even when Kentona was first promoted, to what it is today. Certainly there were always spurts of drama, but to be frank, the comparison is night and day.
That's not to say Liberty isn't a hard-working member who does a great job, but remarks like this are particularly condescending;

A.) Hm, was Luchino really trying to BLAME anyone here specifically? I admit, this last blog post was a bit dramatic, but this issue has been on her mind for a while. And it was a very general statement. Our reaction should be how to expand and improve RMN if people don't feel like it's doing a great job meeting their needs as a game development showcase/forum...not be like "The door's over there."
B.) Pom has had both benefits and detriments to this website, and to pretend otherwise is untrue. Corf's resentment was understandable...even if expressed very badly. It's another case of blaming the user, instead of brainstorming for ways to change or improve this site. But I won't go too far into that subject.
I don't think any one of us has all the answers...but collectively, maybe we can get closer to finding it. But it rests with the staff as well - they need to be open to suggestions or even criticism if we want RMN to ever improve.

while the circle-jerkers stuff keep rising to the top ( hint: two of them have already posted in this thread ).
Comments like these happen WAY too much lately.
I have yet to see a goodbye blog in the past few months on this site that wasn't extremely misguided. If you're so fed up with this place. PM your friends to contact you somewhere else and just simply leave.
Is there any reason for this to be public? I personally know of a reason: To warn others of said venom and circle-jerking. Yet, everything you or any other of the giant "fuck you rmn" blogs I've seen in the past few months were so painstakingly vague about everything. Being so vague leads me to believe that you just want to stir up drama.
You're fed up of circle-jerking and that TWO of the worst offenders are in this thread posting? Yet, you talk about it like it's an inside joke amongst friends. I have no idea who you're talking about. Most people who will read this has no idea who you're talking about. I'm going to take a wild guess and that your friends, former friends, and the people you're targeting DO understand who you're talking about. I don't know about others, but to me this seems rather hypocritical.
If saying their names is something you'd rather not do, then maybe you should not be making these posts at all, because this is only making yourself and your game look bad.

it's just too many personality clashes going on.
It's this. RMN is a bigger pool with more types of people than ever before.
Re: Luncherino: Sometimes it's okay to have a blowout and storm off. It's cathartic and it helps people vent frustrations they would otherwise bottle up. Hopefully some time to clear your head and refocus on your game gives you what you need.
To quote my boy Dalph:
"I can't believe what I'm reading here, I rolled my eyes so much that they're now at the back of my head."
"I can't believe what I'm reading here, I rolled my eyes so much that they're now at the back of my head."
I don't understand why this became kind of a "let's find the culprit" game.
I just think everyone should try moving on, leave the subject, talking seems to not doing any difference, doesn't seem to change anyone's mindset or anything. Some things to consider I think, play more games, leave the Welp-welp to die xD, continue mak mor gams, and... never rely just on a site to magically skyrocket you to the sky.
I don't know, please don't hate me. Love you guys and gals.

I am aware that I am late to the party as the last post was made in October, but I just wanted say something on the matter. I am sorry if this is considered a necro-bump.
Anybody who had put too much faith into this project or worked for it had this coming from miles away.
You might be thinking "who the f* is this guy popping out of nowhere to say something like this?". I lost my interest in rpg maker long time ago and only recently started checking forums again to catch up on the community. I was never actively posting anyway, but I kept checking on some projects on and off for years, one of which was this game.
I feel sorry for the project, because I really wanted to see it completed. I am a big fan of this genre and I liked her previous game, so I was hoping to see an ever better game from her. But I had already lost my faith in her competence in the very early stages.
She changed the main aspects of the game over and over and not only that, but she pretended to quit many times over the years as well. Even the title was changed several times iirc.
As if trying to overhaul the game several times over not big enough of a hassle, she started making her own tilesets and sprites, which is a pretty huge undertaking, instead of focusing on the game itself.
Oh and she had canceled the second chapter of her previous game before starting this one as well, which was another hint for what was to be expected for her next project.
The community had more than enough evidence to be cautious about its development and keep their distance. I just feel sorry for the people who worked for this game, but honestly, it wasn't hard to guess such an outcome.
What had me really surprised though is what was posted here by some people who were actually involved with the project. I was thinking to myself years ago that this game might be canceled any time, but wasn't expecting that she wasn't even responsive to her own helpers.
Thanks for your time to read this.
tl,dr; This is no surprise at all. What is worse is QQing about lack of attention when she is actually one of the most popular in the community...

It's obvious who the culprit is. Luchi himself.
Yes, he did awesome work on the game. But his attitude is garbage and his self-esteem is worse. My games tend to (rightly) get criticism. I was once told to edit the font. I edited, and edited. Sorry, but I like gradient text, solid color looks too hard. Look at the end of the day, you either accept or reject criticism. I accepted it, until I was like "nuh, no more editing to people who like solid text."
You don't fall to pieces and run off because people don't pay enough attention. Nor anything vinedrai said (redoing tilesets, flaking out on the actual story, complaining that you are "too serious" for everyone else).
That's emo behavior.
