I tried to think of a clever title for this blog for a while, but I didn't want to use two voice/speech/words puns in a row.

This is a progress report: there is progress being made.

Over the last week, I went backwards instead of forwards and spent some time giving Marcia lines and a personality and all that other cool stuff that the kids are into these days.

In addition, I sketched out a few different layouts for class descriptions but I won't have the time to sit down, make decisions, and transfer class information over for a while. It's simple work, but also time-consuming, so it's something I hope to take care of this weekend in addition to mapping the last dungeon for Chapter 2.

In order to drag out this update provide you all with interesting and exciting information, I thought I'd touch on what each hero's personality will be like. Marcia, as you might have envisioned, is going to be pretty straight-laced. She's a career soldier with a lot of loyalty to King and country and she's not necessarily a big believer in the whole 'Demon Lord' nonsense. Meanwhile, Errol is not a nice person. He's a bandit, a scoundrel, and he wouldn't give a damn about what the King tells him to do if he had a choice. Think of him as a counterpart to Marcia in many ways.

If that sounds a little bland, well, it is. Obviously, the four heroes will undergo some character development and interact not just with NPCs but also with each other, but I'm not stretching for a Pulitzer here. The writing isn't going to be half-assed, but don't expect a dramatic, character-driven story. That's not what this particular game is about.

On a side note, does anyone else think it's a little strange that I just spent a progress report talking about something that most games just do? Imagine it: 'cutting edge feature: the next Final Fantasy has talking characters.'

Hopefully you all are stoked by the fact that your characters have lines, but I'll have to think of something a little more exciting for the next post. I have a pretty good idea of what that might be...
