Karuna and Aurelie were friends. Then Aurelie went off and found the infernal armor of Ellicide and became the Evil Overlord Darkloft. Karuna is the only one who can stop her. But Karuna loves Aurelie, even now.

Luxaren Allure is a medium-sized RPG (12-20 hours) that follows Karuna and her allies as they explore the isles of Luxaren and confront a former friend who now wants nothing but destruction. This is a wlw (women who love women, lesbian romance, yuri, etc) game with an all female playable cast.

Also included are:

  • Title Screen Art, Face Portraits and Illustrations by M-3-1 (http://m-3-1.deviantart.com/)
  • Side View CTB Battles, with animated heroes and (semi)animated enemies!
  • New tilesets and battlers, made just for this game!
  • No random encounters. All enemies are visible on screen, and each triggers a different enemy party.
  • No RTP needed! Most resources are custom, and everything's included with the download.
  • A simple crafting system.
  • A short, character driven story that plays with the standard RPG formula.

Characters:

Karuna has been training with the School of the Unwavering Blade for years, and is considered the best choice for defeating the evil of Darkloft. She's serious, strong-headed, and confident, but her reasons for choosing to be a hero might not exactly be selfless...

Chisa is Karuna's self-proclaimed squire. She's timid but very strong, if a little naive. Her loyalty to Karuna is unquestionable.

A mage from the Naga clan, and one of the few of her kind that does not view humans with suspicion. Carefree and laid-back, she quickly finds herself fascinated with Karuna's quest and even more fascinated with Karuna's squire.

The great-granddaughter of the paladin hero Estes, Lynette is a well-balanced warrior from Rezael who has trained for years to master both the physical and magical arts to make up for the fact that she didn't inherit her family's holy magic powers.

Now known as Overlord Darkloft, the evil one who has placed the isles of Luxaren in dire peril. Karuna has so many questions for her. What will happen when they finally meet again?

Scripts used:
  • Yanfly's Ace Core Engine, Message, Menu, Equipment and Battle systems!
  • Kread-EX's Animated Battlers!
  • Fomar0153's Compatible Customisable ATB/Stamina Based Battle System!
  • Coelocanth's Item Crafting system!
  • NeonBlack's No AutoShadows

And a special thanks to Red Nova, LockeZ, Crystalgate, Archeia_Nessiah, GreatRedSpirit, and everyone else in the Rpgmaker.net forums for their fantastic suggestions, advice, and general help!

Addit's 6 pages of different CoD reviews on this site have been consistently entertaining
I read some of the comments now, 2 years and 22 worth of pages is too much, so just the 2 final pages.

I don't know why addit think the game is hard... He must be too used to playing CoD. With the post battle mp regen item at the final dungeon, i think i should have started the game at hard mode. Seriously, go play Seraphic Blue, a normal monster can wipe your entire party before you can act if you are unlucky, and there are save stations and random encounters, meaning you lose a LOT of time.

But seriously, i still can't find the trade area, the only different thing i found was an armor that had a comment (i'm judging beggining from before finding the first person). Might as well just finish it this way.

I can almost swear there was a post earlier answering that very question about where to use the key items forged from alchemy. If memory serves me right, it's the room straight across the hall from where you enter the final dungeon?

*Edit:

Directly across the hall from where you start in the Final Dungeon is where to trade in those three key items. If you keep going up from the starting location, you will find the area. I can show screenshots if you need help locating it.

Thanks very much! ^_^ Future yuri games I do, like the planned spinoff for this game, will have males in more prominent roles (one is even a party member! XD). It's still about the ladies, but I don't want to always completely exclude men or anything
I believe having male characters on important roles would give a better emphasis on the yuri part, it would look more special, especially if the guy also have/had a girlfriend/wife. It doesn't even have to be profound or about prejudice(seriously overused), just having it makes it look better. I'm really looking foward to your next games.

Last question, something i didn't find at the tips. What the hell do i do with the alchemy set on key items? I finished making it before entering the final dungeon, did i miss something? Because i made the hammer a looong time ago and can't find the place to use it.

I managed to beat the maze.

The game really is entertaining, the battles are very good, normal monsters are strong enough for you to care but weak enough to beat without having to use items after every battle (one of the best turn based battle systems i've seen), which keeps you hooked, the battle animations also remind me of FF7, but 2D. I'm a sucker for yuri so i can't really give an opinion about the overall, but the characters are both somewhat realistic and too straight foward, it's like watching Yuru Yuri, but with men in the background, they exist, but they don't matter, if Lynette was a man, it would have been almost perfect (my point of view).

The only real downside i get from the game is the way the things were drawn. You can't be sure of what you can walk through and what you can't, it's the same as walking through a forest in normal sprites and finding a secret path behind some trees, but with normal stuff (it's what got me stuck on the long maze).

Yeah, that's completely fair. This was the first time I drew my own tiles, and I really didn't have a good grasp of making the tiles you can walk on and the tiles you can't walk on look differently enough. I'm working on that so hopefully future games will be better in that department ^^;;

I might be some random player, but i am enjoying the game, not hard, not easy, common but funny story, funky music, awesome job there. Also, why is Lavos a common enemy at Watery Depths? lol

The reason is, like Marrend said, because I'm a very silly person, and when I got the idea to have a Lavos head sticking out of a seashell, I couldn't resist >.>; XD Thanks again!

I took the Lavos-spawn as a normal enemy as a point of silliness.

There's an extra bunch of treasures if you can beat the extra tidal maze. The best prize is Thessalonite, which can be made into armor that blocks or absorbs water, or various water weapons.

None of it is essential for completing the game, however.

I definitely remember getting one chest, but, maybe not two in that part of the Watery Depths. To be honest, both tidal mazes were pretty nerve-wracking, thanks to the timer mechanism. I'm glad I could stick with the game despite it, though!
Is the tidal maze only about 2 items? The 1 minute long one after you open with the secret key. I tried doing it many times but i never get to see the northwest part of the map.
Dragnfly
Beta testers!? No, this game needs a goddamn exorcist!

What I took away from the final dungeon is the importance of having many cutscenes and puzzles in it to keep the player from losing interest. I just beat one, Stranger of Sword City, and the final dungeon (well, final arc, really) was such a pain to go through that I only got two of the 6 endings.

I understand now that a final dungeon can be absurdly huge and still be okay so long as it is basically treated as an arc of the game, rather than a single dungeon.

Not really a jRPG but Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia comes to mind. Dracula's castle in that thing was HUGE with numerous bosses but it stayed fun because it was broken up into distinct areas with sub bosses and stuff still happening.

I was thinking "Final Fantasy IV's last dungeon was cool. Maybe something like that." But I think it turns out that I'm the only one who liked that huge final dungeon. XD;;;;
tbh LA's final dungeon hella reminded me of the Lunar Core and I LOOOOOOVED it for that. <333 It's a grindy-ass dungeon, but in a way I can dig, since there's lots of rewards for the grind in there~

All right, I finally finished the game and just finished typing the review for it, finally! All I have to do now is just proofread it and it’s ready to go!

Even though that final dungeon can go straight to hell (quite literally), I enjoyed this game very much and I’m glad I got a chance to experience and play it. I would say a lot more, but I think it’s best that I save it for the review.

unity, sorry it took so long to finally get it done. You can kick me in the shins at any time now. :P

Thanks so much, Addit! :D I'm very excited to read it and see how your experience went and how you liked the game. :DDDDDDDDDD

And no worries about the wait. Good things are always worth waiting for ;)
