My Father is Alive!
Hey everybody! It's been quite some time since the last Father update...5 months exactly but who's counting right?
Well, let's get right into it then. Here is how the game stands:
Story: 20%
Maps: 5%
Battle Eventing: 30%
Item Finalization: 55%- Yes, the menu runs super smooth now.
Music: 0%
They look pretty bleak, no? Well, it's actually not that bad. I am continuously fleshing out the story into something that people will genuinely enjoy. What you played in the demo is complete garbage compared to what I'm working on now.
As for Maps, I will be focusing on territorial themes much like the pokemon games. Don't worry about maps, I'm good with those. Once the battle eventing is done, I can just plug n' chug.
Battles: As you know, Father will use an evented battle system. Some people obviously said that it was boring and that was okay as it was based off of a 1990's obscure gameboy game. As you can see from the updates, Father's battle system will be getting some adjustments.
-The entire screen will be filled with appropriately placed info. The boxes will be cycled by pressing left or right. The beta screen still is missing the ever present item menu and the attack buttons. This will all make sense soon.
-SP is making an appearance. SP or SPECIAL POINTS will be your "MP" in this game. Speed will be replaced with this stat. Unlike MP, SP determines what kind of attacks you can do. Each character has a different attack menu with different types of attacks. For example, the new character, Seiji, will attack with at BB gun so your attack will be button based. SP can be leveled up and with each level up you gain 10 SP. Note that all the characters share SP so you will have to balance out your attacks.
-Attacks: You will have 3 attacks to choose from for each character, excluding your cat:( You will have a Weak Attack (DOWN ARROW =0SP), Medium Attack (LEFT OR RIGHT ARROW=5SP), STRONG Attack (UP=10SP). Starting the game, you will mostly use a weak attack until you level up your SP. Again, each character will have different ways to attack.
-You may have noticed the "Time Bar" at the bottom right. For some attacks, they are timed so you can try to get optimal damage out of your SP use. Seiji will use this for his BB shots. You will Have 5 seconds to attack. And again, this is experimental and is subject to change.
-All items will be displayed in smaller fashion in a submenu to the right. You will be able to choose which items you'd like to use from there and the battle will resume after that. Keep in mind that only one character can attack per round.
-Music: I haven't gotten around to making all the concept documents for the composer to see what types of tunes would fit the game but I'm working on that. The game's sound will be based off the Pokemon DS instruments and boy do they sound good.
Overall, the game is progressing nicely. The battle menu still has tons of work to be done but it isn't anything hard. We're looking at Late 2016 mid 2017 release. I will however, be putting this game on the side for the remainder of the year to finish and release Dragon Quest + by December.
I thank everyone who is interested in this game and it'll only get better from here.

Hello RMN. For those of you who are interested in Father, thanks for showing your support. I really appreciate it. Today, I have a mini event that will be taking place. Here are the details:
Example enemies:
Mr. Fowl
Scaredy Cat
Info: Father encompasses an era where human influence has become very strong on wild life and insect life. The main reason for this is GOODY Corp, an unethical corporation, that will do ANYTHING to progress. Thus, wild life has suffered from their continuous forced natural selection, chemical emissions, and overall human influence. So, the monsters should be based off of real animals. That's the cutting point. I guess it is in a way like Mother 3 but the choices you can make are endless.
Running Time: Until Development Finishes.
Objective: Father isn't using Mother 3 enemies any more. I kinda found that to be quite tacky. Thus, I am beginning to create my own monsters for the game. The monsters are going to be influenced by the world. Essentially, the world is corrupting the wild life and upsetting the balance between humans and animals/insects. So... anything goes!
Rules/Conditions
A.) All participants must send me a submission form to be considered.
Here's a downloadable version that you can send me: http://rpgmaker.net/users/Ljink/locker/FATHER_MONSTER_SUBMISSON_FORM.docx
You can also view the information and fill the form out on the Monster Maker Page.
B.) You may submit any number of monsters you want. You can send the sketches via PM or post it on this blog.
C.) Monsters must not use any strong sexual references. I know Crack Cocanine is going a bit far but there's not crack on the dog to be seen. In other words, I don't wanna see bananas, cherrys, or anything of the sort. Unless they are properly clothed.
D.)You must send it as a PNG file!!!
I will not accept any jpg, bmp, or any other file formats. Naturally, cameras take jpegs but you can find numerous raster based programs that allow you to export to PNG.
*REMINDER* The maximum monster size is 128x128 Pixels. That isn't the maximum file size but the monsters will be made in a 128x128 all the way down to a 16x16.
My only hope is that you have fun with this and you'll be able to see your monster in Father when it is released. Until then, you can try out a demo of the game that encompasses what it might be like.
The only incentive for you to participate is that you'll be noted in the credits and you'll be aiding in the creation of Father. I'm not asking that you do picasso work here. Just a sketch that you would make in your notes or something. I have plenty of ideas, I just thought it would be cool if enemies from RMN were on here. But I guess I'm not that popular to run such an event.
Example Submission:
FATHER MONSTER SUBMISSON FORM
Name: XXX
1.) Name: Crack Cocanine
2.) Monster Attack Phrase: The Crack Cocanine tried using peer pressure...
3.) Monster Stats
-BP: 20 BP
-ATK: 2
-DEF: 2
-SPD: 3
4.) Monster Spoils:
-$8.00
-Sack Lunch (50%)
5.) Monster's habitat: Plains
6.) Monster's behavior: Agressive
7.) Anything else I should know about this monster?: He is a vicious mutt who became addicted to stimulants.
Thank you for the submission. You will be notified if your monster has been accepted via PM.
Some monster stats may be personally altered.

Father Demo Is Up, I kid you not
Yesterday, I attempted to upload a demo of Father but people got a bad game. That wasn't the game I wanted you to test. In short, I had taken development from a Linux to a PC, then I patched everything, put the game in separate directories and to make matters worse, I used a powerpatched rpg engine. This caused conflicting writing and reading issues but everything is fine as of now.
But everything should be okay. I tested it in every location possible on my PC. You should be able to download, extract, and play by using the afm game starter. Please enjoy the game, the real demo. Sorry I couldn't get it up earlier. I had to do a lot of pre Easter work. I hope you all enjoy your Easter Sunday. Don't eat too much candy.

Help/Update
Hiya everyone. I have two tidbits to share today. Let's get the easy stuff out the way first.
A.) There are some new screens for the game that highlight some updates made to the menu and aesthetics in the game. Feel free to leave a comment or feedback on any of them. I have also uploaded a portrait of Kimiyo so you can expect to see Will and Deru coming later on. I love feedback because you will be the ones playing it which leads me to this...
I need help developing Father
I don't want your help, I NEED your help. This game is becoming something that I didn't expect it to become. It's getting really deep and quite interesting. I often spend too much time playing rather than making but that's not the reason why I'm here. I need several positions to be filled to aid in the game's development. To keep the quality of the game in tact, I need a set amount of helpers on this game and don't worry the workloads won't be that bad. So, here's what I need:
Story Related-
I need 2 Co-Scenario Writers (Aiding the creation of scenarios) I would like it if you were familiar with Pokemon, Mother(Earthbound), and other modern type RPGS as well as older Animes such as Inuyasha and Sailor Moon(Any Anime that is fantasy based). I'm not shoehorning cameos or stories from the series, it's just to help you to make stories that fit the game's atmosphere. You will be very important to me if you choose this role(assuming that anyone applies). If you would like one of these slots, please PM me.
Gameplay Related-
2+ Battle Eventers (Aiding in the creation of battles, inputting stats, spoils, monster images, battle dialogue, etc.) This is simple, you will be making battle events for monsters. Don't worry, I will handle all bosses and I will provide a template for you to work with I will also provide stats, spoil info, and sprite info. I don't expect to see to many people apply for this, so I have prepared to not have anyone on board for this section. But if you can help, I need it.
Graphics Related-
As you know, this game will be using some rips, and edits from Pokemon and Mother 3. Some customs are done from professionals that I have asked for use in the game.
So basically I need 2 Mappers (Aiding in the creation of area maps) Areas, Inside Houses, etc.) As the description implies you will be helping me make area maps and inner maps. The inner maps use Mother 3 styled furnishings. The outer maps use Pokemon style. If you apply for this, I would need for you to be familiar with Pokemon maps and I would need a short portfolio of maps that you've done.
2 Co-spriters (Making character sprite sheets/editing/making chipsets) I have a slew of custom sprites that haven't been implemented yet. I would need these to make new chipsets that fit the areas in the game. If you want to do this, you would have to know how to make chipsets efficiently(using every bit of space to your advantage) and you would have to know how to make decent character sheets. (Mind you, a lot of the work is done but not enough to get this game rolling like it should.)
Sound-
1 Co Music Director (Aiding in the direction of the soundtrack. Must love music, no matter what the type. It would be cool if you knew how to use Synthfont but it isn't necessary. I don't know every type of music there is out there. I don't. But I know that someone out there knows some decent songs to add to the game. The game doesn't have a deep atmosphere so light hearted music would be ideal. Your job would be to find/compose if you want, music that would fit the game. As of now, the game will not feature ANY music from Pokemon, Mother, Zelda, or any popular game's music. I want the players to listen to some new tunes while they play. However, the game will have a dedicated soundfont which is a Pokemon Black and White Soundfont that I'll provide for use.
1+ Testers-
Just testing out the available areas, noting what doesn't work, what you don't like, what should/can be changed to enhance the user experience. I need some good testers that will tell me it is crap if it is crap. I would probably stop it at around 6 testers though.
Also, anyone who applies by April 30th will have access to the exact same game that I'm working on...AND the public will have a version that they can demo too. This is my first time doing a game like this and I know I'll need help to finish it. Dragon Quest + is kind of fading away into oblivion as the game suffers from low frame rates, poor event quality, and a way better game available on iOS and Android.
All applicants should not be working on major outside projects. If you don't have the time, don't apply. This will be a long term process. If you finish a particular assignment you will be able to take a break until I need your assistance again. If you have something to do outside of Father's development, don't worry about it. It's just a game, you're not getting paid for it, take a load off and do what you have to do.
I'm just asking for help because I know I'll need it if the game is to be finished and well done. I hate that my first couple of games failed so because I was too over my head. However, now, I feel that I am working on something that has to be finished and I know a few people will enjoy.
If I don't recieve ample help, I'm afraid that this game along with Dragon Quest + will most likely be cancelled or drastically reduced in scope. I hope you can bring something to Father's development that I can't. I'm looking forward to working with whoever wants in. A proper meeting will be held on May 6th, when I am out of college for the summer and real work can get done. Thanks for listening, I hope you all will respond. Thank you. Oh, and if there's any position that you may think you'd be good at but I didn't mention, shoot me a PM and we can talk about it. The game needs all the help it can get.

Mini Update
Hello to anyone following the development of Father. The game has been through one hell of a makeover in the past almost year. Many of the makeovers required the game to be fully redone so it would feel and look better. Here are some minor updates that have been made to the game:
*You now have the ability to buy a MX-3000 Bicycle. This is a must have item in the game if you're trying to get around quickly. If you want it early in the game, which you will, I would do as many Good Deeds as possible. The bike also allows you to change views. You can see only you on the bike or you can see all your party members and your pet cat, Mai, riding on your head. (that sounds so wrong...)
*Speaking of Good Deeds, there is a list of people who need to be helped located at Moneybag's Bank. This is where you will also set up your bank and storage accounts. Once you help someone in need, you'll get a point for every good deed performed. The bike seller wants at least 10 good deeds so be good and helpful.
*Shopping menu has been updated to look much more inviting.
*Playtime counter has been added to the bottom right. You can choose to view this, or not view it from the menu settings. It is extremely accurate on my PC after working around with some millisecond operations. There's a bug or two to kill but other than that, it works like a charm.
UPCOMING:
*The chapter icon will be removed with Trades. Trades are items that you get "in game" that will have to use to progress through the game, or not. There are 3 trades in all. 2 are mandatory, 2 aren't.
I hope that whoever is listening in will give this game a try. I'm really loving how it is coming together and it has come a long way from back in April when it was announced. Welp, look out for this game coming in June(which means December):D

Final Adjustments
This is actually a decent update. Just Peachy has changed names for the final time, it has changed to my initial name of "Father". Why all the name changes? I can't tell you for the love of me. Anyway, the game has been developing smoothly. It's taking longer to develop because I love paying attention to little things but nevertheless, it is going smoothly. The Pecan County map should outline how you will progress through the game.
The game is non-linear so you can tackle any area that you want in any order that you want. I've also used the Pokemon HGSS map graphics to create the map in this game.
The final menu has been updated as well. In this menu screen you'll notice many changes of items. Each item will now represent an area that you will go through in the game. There is officially 2 cave areas, 1 sky area, 1 snow area, 1 jungle area, 1 swamp/marsh area, 1 fall/asian area, and a few other areas that you can access by doing certain things. What certain things? Well, by doing good deeds you are able to access certain areas so be a good kid in this game!
As for the save count, those able to beat the game in under 50 saves will be rewarded in some kind of way, I won't say how as the game is still being developed. I had to restructure the game because it had no structuring before, I was just doing stuff just to make sure my ideas would work. Now the game is officially being worked on. I hope you look forward to the completion of this game.

Just Great!
Just Peachy (used to be I Miss You) has been under well... construction for a while now. I think however, that I've got everything set and I'll start working on the story and events. I'm also including:
A completely evented/picture first person battle system.(5% complete)
An item storage/bank system(100% complete)
A completely evented/picture shop system(99% complete) I have images of the shopping scene but I need a good background for the shop.
Many of the games other features can't really be explained. They have to be experienced. I'm putting more effort into this game than in Dragon Quest + so this game might be finished first. This game is really turning out to be something that I didn't think I could do on 2k3. By no means will it be done by this year, not at all but the game is progressing well and I'm having more fun working on this than I have had when working on Dragon Quest because I can do literally whatever I want without worrying about crazed fans. I hope you all look forward to it.

Announcement
What is this?
I see there has been a bit of confusion about I Miss You. This game is a modern game that focuses on everyday life. No monsters, no demons, only life. Of course there are real demons in our every day life(if you know what I mean) and that will be in the game as well.
Overall I am trying to create an interactive story that is very short and sweet while Dragon Quest + is getting its finishing touches done. This game is also influenced by Earthbound/Mother 2 if you couldn't notice. Every sprite comes from EB/MO3 although there are a lot of edited graphics as well. I can't show them in opening screens because the game is so short.
So, I hope you look forward to the game's completion. There's much more information to be shared but I wont because the game will only take about 2 hours to complete. This is just an announcement to keep y'all informed about such a different style of gameplay.
