Ruby Radiance is going to be my submission for this years Indie Game Maker Contest. I had the original inspiration for the game for my enjoyment out of game title Azure Dreams. It features a floor based dungeon crawl RPG with gathering and crafting elements and a unique battle system. Mine minerals and precious gems and bring them to the surface in order to upgrade your equipment, magic, and other means of survivability from the numerous amounts of monsters below. Enjoy a simple story involving the survival of your home village. This game will most likely continue production after the contest to a game that will feature many popular RPG elements. For the purpose of the contest, I have two downloads available - one that includes the RTP, and one that does not. This game is free; It's only listed as Commercial for the purposes of the contest.

Picking up where I left off!

Time for the redesign! With this semester drawing ever closer to a conclusion, I feel like I need to work up one of my old projects. I think Ruby Radiance has the most promise. And with me furthering my learning on how Ruby works, I feel confident that I can make whatever necessary changes to the script I need to do what I want to. This came with my most recent discovery of how to assign the common event menu to the escape key instead of A~ one of many changes that will be happening!

I intend to be incorporating~
-Experience and Levels
-Currency
-More variety in crafting
-More flavor to map design

These are just a few of the big ones I know need changing. I'll see what else I can cook up over the next month!

When I took a speed run of my own through it, I averaged about 55 minutes. My testers averaged around one hour and 30 minutes, but I figured that was okay for the contest.

There's a problem with the upgrade menu. You can't get out of it. Once you talk to the blacksmith there is no way to stop talking to him, the 'cancel' option only takes you back to the first menu, there is no way to leave.

wait found it by hitting X by accident, when ESC didn't...seriously the pre-assigned buttons you've got in this one are odd.

auto skipping text is bad

my sprite clearly has a beard but the avatar doesnt!

that naga fight was hard o.o

i did not understand the dragon fight. is the crystal healing it?

a game that relies on its simple yet unique battles and upgrade system.
while amusing for a little bit in the grand scheme of things this was a pointless experience for me.
no one few if anything) think back to most rpgs and think about the battle system.
its always about the plot and characters and here it was lacking.
its not a bad way to kill a little over a hour tho.

it was okay
10 floor dungeon crawl and mining game. A very casual game that is quite easy to play. I encounter one bug, where if I ascend up the rope from floor B-4 I get put on B-2 instead of B-3. Battle system is similar to my ultimate game (dont see this very often) but this game has the advantage of custom sprite poses, which I really wanted to have. Oh well. Aside from that, there is little to no story. So basically, a casual dungeon crawl (not really an RPG, fighting enemies gives no benefit whatsoever, and they respawn)

Its been 3 years! XD
I've been on and off about expanding this game, but the RTP usage would have to be replaced. Not that that would be an issue considering I'm not exactly releasing this commercial for the IGMC 2014, haha.
