Actually the literal translation you've used is flower not rose. Rose in German is rose - don't change it though, it's lovely. Given that The White Rose were a German civil resistance group dedicated to the opposition of Nazism and WWII, with disastrous consequences for them, I think it's a lovely dedication. Actually given the premise of bringing light, life and colour back to a dark painting/world, it's a wonderful analogy as well.
