Didn't expect to get this game page accepted so quickly. Just added the download after some play testing. I plan on doing a walkthrough page soon for those stuck on certain sections of the story.

Neat! So you did manage to finish this game after all. I will certainly take a look at it as soon as possible.

Yeah, the original plan was to do this game with someone else... But they dropped out. I tried to do the puzzle portion of the game to the best of my ability. I was actually working on a RPG and a horror game, but decided to drop everything to finally finish this game.

Am I missing something?

I think that's a pretty big coincidence :)

I've finished playing No Gold for Brigands and here's my take on the experience: It's a cute, silly, quirky puzzle game surrounding a cat-girl who wants to sail the seven seas, and sets on a ridiculous quest to sneak aboard a pirate ship.

The whole game revolves around puzzles, as the only way to move the plot forward is to complete them (or, in some cases, talk to everyone to get things moving forward between puzzles). The puzzles vary in quality and difficulty, but there's a decent variety.

I originally thought the game was more open-world, as at the first town, you're free to wander around, and you can play a maze mini-game and sell the prizes to buy... more games. There's a fighting game, a fishing game, a shooter game and a pong game.

These games are fun, but really have nothing to do with the rest of the game. The game is full of puzzles, and I feel like these mini-games could have been integrated into the game rather than just being bought and then put in your menu.

Overall, for what this is (which is, a game with a silly plot as an excuse to put in puzzles) I think its pretty good, has some charm to it and a lot of fun. It's a bit on the short side, so I wouldn't say no to more content, but I enjoyed what I played. Some of the jokes were hit or miss, but I always appreciate quirky characters.

And here are some notes I took while I played:
-A cute, tongue-in-cheek opening.

-Very catchy music! Love it! :D

-It may be nitpicking, but I found it odd that, in the menu, "save" isn't capitalized, but "Items" and "Game End" are.

-The GOLD counter covers up dialog. I'd suggest either moving it to the top of the screen or making sure that text is never in the bottom right corner.

-The jumping puzzles were slightly tedious, but the Hook Shot is a lot of fun.

-That last puzzle under the ship took me a while to figure out.

-I seem to have a flamethrower out of nowhere. And the torches I light aren't animated.

-Again, a nitpick, but there are several typos in the game. Usually they're a their/they're mistake, but I thought I'd point out this typo in the ending.

You're welcome :D
I found some notes I took while playing this game a while back. Unfortunately, it crashed 3 hours in and I lost the save file. I'll do my best to make sense of what notes I have.
Main Points:

Dialogue was kind of grating/ cheesy, especially with some of the lines that emphasize Niko's cat nature (e.g "Maybe if you're a good kitty I'll let you have one later." ) That being said, there were some exceptionally good lines scattered here and there. Pretty much hit-or-miss.
The mini-games were a big surprise, very much in depth.
Niko's "crafty" personality is great but can be overshadowed by cliched lines or too much naivete.

More Notes:

I would like more options- begins to open up later in the game, but still...
More puzzles for the puzzle master? or perhaps different maps? I mean, I was surprisingly addicted to the one maze, but something different/a twist would be nice.
I Like having to actually want to buy the instruction manual.
"The captain never pays any attention to me, I wish he would scratch me behind the ears sometimes." MVL (most valuable line), coming from Gregor.
I liked the sense of expanding opportunity you got from going on the sailing ship. Though I'm not sure where it was going after that, my notes ended.

Bernard Steven Fitzgerald the Fifth. What happened to the rest of the puzzles? I thought he'd be laying them out all over, or there'd be some sort of continuation to this. Then again, maybe I'm missing the point of the game.

What was the game crash caused by? I have heard that the Ping game has issues, so I would avoid that mini game unless you save before hand.

I'm currently working on a turned based tactics game for those of you who follow me.

Comedy adventure game, not an RPG. Overall this is very similar to othello. Mostly the same puzzles as well. I have seen some of those minigame scripts in other games. Took a while to figure out you can pick up and throw bombs. Anyway I liked this game its pretty funny.

I think I was making this game and Othello around the same time. Originally I only made half of this game (ie. maps and story / no puzzles.)
Another person was supposed to do the puzzles, but in the end I had to complete the game myself. The history of this game has a lot to do with how it ended up. I somehow got sidelined on Othello during that time and ended up making a tactics game before Othello got finished. I think Tears of Revenge will go down as my last RPG. As you can see with my VNs and even those event games, I went out of my way to avoid doing that. I think I have changed a lot in terms of what I want to make.
