Ascendence's won the following 2009 Misaos:
Best Setting, Best Atmosphere, Best Sound & Music, Most Technical Prowess, Best Level Design, Best Interface Design, Most Promising Demo

Setting:

The world is largely unknown to its inhabitants of our kind. Mankind is only a tiny race struggling to survive and exist on the surface of their world. As the bottom of the food chain, they've set out to live in what they call Colonies, small regions they've locked themselves into, varying between cities built inside mountains, beneath or on the surface of the seas, and some daringly in the middle of bald, plain terrain, confined by huge walls towering high above their heads.

Why they are living in here is because there is no stepping outside those Colonies, for on the other side of those walls awaits nefarious nature, striving to wipe off their existence parasites, if you will. Even if those walls are barely enough to hold off the worst, it doesn't hold off those other inhabitants of this atmosphere, those known as the Beasts. The humans are one of the natural nourishments for the Beast-kind, which is diverse in species, all specialized to hunt in different ways, all with a common goal: to consume and to survive. This is not the only threat to the inhabitants of the Colonies, but the clearest one: the one coming from the outside.

What exists inside, diseases such as Miasma; deception and scheming; conspiracies; assassins, and other various methods one is willing to take to ensure self-survival.

Ascendence Resources

Every now and then people have been asking me for a permission to use the resources I used in Ascendence, or then they have used them without a permission anyway, so I put together a pack of resources I used in the game. Here you go:

http://rpgmaker.net/users/Happy/locker/Ascendence_Resources.rar

There is a folder for resources I compiled myself and a folder for general resources that I've grabbed from wherever I've liked.

Unfortunately I'm not going to upload the last version of the project folder as the size is somewhere around 700 Mb!

But if you're wondering how these resources were used, you can take a look in the old demo version and the screenshots I've posted here on RMN. Here's also some additional screenshots of the areas that weren't included in the demo:

I will, I will. I'm actively working on this.
Note about 2nd phase of demo: When I pressed Esc and the custom menu slid out, I actually had an eyegasm. This game is beautiful. Let me know if you need database help.

This game blows my mind in so many ways... I finished the RSD demo and now I'm hooked- I can't wait to see this pan out fully!
I was bored and I decide to play your demo again...and I just want to say that...I love you. I honestly, truely love you. I have never seen such beauty in Rpg Maker. Its a true masterpiece. You know what..I'm going to play it again...just because...I love you.

(Im joking about the "I love you." So relax. Anyway I cant wait for the completed version. Its going too be too epic. Cant wait.)

Oh shit, man. Well, erm, thanks. Anyway, how can you love so much, even though the obvious faults? : ( Does this love overcome all the obstacles?

OH but do not worry. I will respond your love as soon as I can, whenever I will be able to release more.... release it all over you.. fans. Oh wait, nevermind.
This is getting out of hand...
Very nice! The RSD is actually more appealing than you think, i really hope you finish this game.

P.S. did you draw everything? (by everything i mean chipsets and charsets)

No, not by far. Mostly everything in the game is rips, but there is still lots of custom work in the graphics. Several characters are half or full custom, and the poses are most custom. What comes to chipset, they're all rips, but usually highly edited and compiled. Plus I've added detail and extra tiles to the chipsets, etc.

So, they're not drawn by me, but still very customized.
This game is one of reasons why I registered here. Old school, freeware... Often better than some modern products.
I can't wait to play this again. Take your time, though, don't rush it. ; )

Is there any chance that you'll release it without locking the resources and project data?

Rebezion: Thanks. Comments like that really make me want to show all that I've got in reserves and in planning, because it will be so much more than presented earlier. Just have to hope it all will hold together.

Eschalt: Cheers! What comes to the release and resources. In the demo versions they're probably going to be locked, but when the time for the final release comes, I don't see a particular reason to lock everything anymore. The idea to hold files to myself with demo releases, is to still maintain somewhat unique style to my project. However, once the full thing is out, it doesn't matter that much anymore - if you catch my drift.
Is it just me, or did this game page get an intense upgrade in screens?
Want some help with coloring the lineart and stuff? You're free to refuse of course, but it's just that lately I've found myself with a little too much free time on my hands. Also, I really want to help out. :D

Let me know what you thought!

ps. I've been slacking too much recently. I really should get to work this more again. I'm just at very frustrating part right now...
This is one of the coolest, most original demos I've ever played. I downloaded it a while back, but I never really had the motivation to get past the first part (before the chase). Played it recently and enjoyed every minute of it! I died like three times on the train though. I'm really hoping you finish this.
