Vampires are creatures that live amidst the darkness of eternal night. They have absolutely no regard for human lives and treat them like stones to be kicked away.

One night, a girl was running in a forest while being chased by three bandits. Then a black-clothed man passed by and subsequently took them down easily. The girl, who thought she was saved by him, wanted to repay him and thus invited him to her village.

......The man, who was actually a vampire, smiled and accepted her invitation. After all, the more prey, the merrier......

Nocturne: Rebirth (月夜に響くノクターン Rebirth) is a popular 10 to 20-hour (story-wise) dark fantasy JRPG originally created using RPG Maker XP in 2009 by Shou (or Cogwheel) and translated into English by me, eplipswich. It is actually the remake of the game Nocturne created using RPG Maker 2000 way back in 2002. The differences between the two include new graphics and a new battle system, with only the story virtually unchanged. This version serves as the English version of Nocturne: Rebirth. It is also my second game translation after Seraphic Blue.

Nocturne: Rebirth is notable for
- A highly original ATB battle system
- Touch-based enemy encounters
- Slick battle animations
- A highly versatile character levelling system via skill upgrades
- Unique Familiar Summon System
- Almost 100% custom graphics
- Characters that players can sympathize with
- Unique soundtracks
and so much more!

Japanese Trailer (Will make an English trailer in the future):

Latest Blog

Blog 18: Boy, has it been a while. 10,000 downloads and what's been going on

Well, first of all, this is late, but better late than never. Nocturne Rebirth has officially become one of the big boys of 10k downloads, so congrats on that!

So if you've been wondering what has been going on, I'm still translating the visual novel called Aiyoku no Eustia, so once again, if you're interested in that, you can check it out at https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/16982-aiyoku-no-eustia-translation-project-partial-patch-is-out/

Then what about the RPG Maker scene? Remember what I said before about the game Hat World/Hatalonia at http://rpgex.sakura.ne.jp/littleworld/? Well, a revamp of it just got released about 7 months ago, with the latest version just released last month! I'm currently playing it, and I'm really enjoying it! Truly, I feel this game deserves to be translated. But I will only most likely embark on translating this game after I'm done playing it and I'm substantially done with translating Aiyoku no Eustia, so it'll be a long wait. Hopefully you'll see a game page of Hatalonia here next year! So do look forward to it.

So yep, that's really it from me for now. Till next time!

Does Brave Clear apply to familiars' levels too? They seem to level up the traditional way, unlike the two main characters who can prevent level gain as long as they don't learn new skills.

Yep, it does if I remember correctly, so make sure not to over-level them up :)

In any case, familiars don't level up as quickly as the two main characters, so it's pretty much possible to monitor their levels.
Thanks. Luckily, I can prevent their growth by swapping them out, though this makes it hard to farm rare drops. I managed to beat the second boss and hit the wind crystal near it, but what does that crystal even do?

You mean the crystal that you use the wind power to hit? That actually unlocks the barrier blocking the way to the second boss. I guess you spent Exp to unlock the barrier?
Yeah, I spent the exp. I just realized I was supposed to shoot while walking diagonally. I feel silly now.

This looks good, but does it feature Dante from the Devil May Cry (TM) series?

I wish, lol. Would have been cool, though.
Great work on the translation.

Nice artwork, but I had to drop the game fairly early because I can't stand how incredibly stupid and naive the main girl and all the human characters are. It feels like Twilight all over again, just from Edward's point of view. At least it came before Twilight.

Yeah, the story isn't this game's strongest point. On the other hand, the gameplay, coupled with the battle animations and such, is, imho, the true highlight of this game. There are, however, those who play a game more for the story, so I can understand that.

Thanks for trying out the game nonetheless! :)
Are Brave Clear rewards random? I saw someone's video where they got Sidewinder from the first boss while I got Meditation.

Yes, they're random for most of the battles, though every one of them always belongs to a certain category. Only a few of them are fixed.
Stupid question, but i get problems when unzipping this, it wont unzip files written in japanese, so how do i fix this?
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Oh dear, I think I may have done something wrong during one of the updates.
I think when you unzip the files, you're prompted to replace, right? Click "No to all", and it should unzip properly.

I'll fix this quickly in the meantime.
For Brave Clear, is everyone supposed to be below the BC level or is it okay to be equal to the level? Does this only apply to non-released familiars? I ask this because I got the Crimson Sword core item in the Kenaz Ruins (BC 20), which summons a level 20 familiar from the start.

It's okay to be equal to the level :) Just not above.

And yes, Brave Clear only applies to non-released familiars (and of course, the two main characters). In other words, Brave Clear applies to all party members, including reserve party members.
Does a familiar's passive skills level up with it? Or is it only sorceries that scale based on level? I've never really checked or noticed if a familiars own passives level with it or not.

Also do separate passives stack? Haven't really used passives that increase exp or mell at all so I'm unsure of this, say white rabbit loot rise 2 and black rabbits loot rise 3 = 70% loot or does it only count the higher one? So loot rise 3 makes it 40% and ignores loot rise 2 since it's lower.

This, I'm actually not very sure. Maybe someone can try teaching a skill to a familiar and then level it up to see if there's any change. I tried giving a skill to a Level 21 familiar, and its maximum level was 3, but giving the same skill to a Level 28 familiar causes its maximum level to be 4.

EDIT: I just checked the Japanese wiki, and yep, it's confirmed that the sorcery skill's maximum level depends on the familiar's level. However, you can't use a Sorcery to overwrite the level of a skill that a familiar has already learned by default.

From what I understand from the Japanese wiki, separate passives do not stack, so only the higher level skill counts.

Maybe I should really translate the Japanese wiki lol.

Yeah sorceries scale based on level that part I figured out. But I mean like a familiars own passive skill not a sorcery. And even if a sorcery didn't level with the familiar you can always release then summon it again with the sorcery so it can scale with its level.

But like default skills I meant. Like siren already has "Dawn" Lv2 for an active skill and "Quick Magic" Lv2 for a passive. At say level 50 just for example purposes would both those skills stay Lv2? Or would they level up with her and be at a cap of Lv5 at level 50?

That's the part I'm trying to figure out. Right now as far as I can tell it doesn't.

Also now that you mention that you can't overwrite a skill, I'm guessing you can't overwrite to a higher level then? Say a familiar has Meditation Lv1 at level 50 and you give it the sorcery meditation, that sorcery would normally scale with level giving a level 50 familiar Meditation Lv5, would it stay Lv1 since you can't overwrite?

And as for passive's stacking I should've known lol. I know some games like to allow you to stack in that case, multiple members having similar passives for drops etc., but lots of games also like to count it as like a new amount I guess counting only the higher amount giving priority and ignoring the lower amount.

Yep, that's what I mean. If the maximum level of the default Meditation skill is level 1, it will stay at level 1 even with the Meditation sorcery equipped and regardless of the familiar's level.

Dang and here I was hoping for that they at least made an exception.

So what about default skills leveling with the familiar? I'm guessing those don't either?
