958 downloads! (Why wait for round numbers to celebrate trivialities?)

So, today v1.5 of Hero's Realm reached 958 downloads! A true milestone (and no less arbitrary than any other possible number). Of course, that's just here at RMN, but it is my main download.
Why are there so many posts like this? Wherein the creator makes a weak blog post with a one-line "Look at me! Thanks everyone!"-type of post. Sure, it feels good to point out our successes, but everyone can see the total number downloads every time they view the gamepage. Maybe the feedback from that is truly addictive. I know I crave attention for my work, though I hide it behind a venear of humility and unassumedness.
Of course, maybe it's a visibility thing. Currently, blog posts are the only way to bump up the gamepage up the gamelist, especially for full games. By celebrating artificial milestones, we can breathe that slight new life into our work.
And then there is the whole vanity and ego-stroking aspect.
So I say down with useless blog posts! Let your game sink or swim on its own merits! Blog posts ought to be informative with real content that spurs debate in some way, shape or form. Who's with me?
(Yes, I do appreciate the irony of using a vapid blog post to dissuade the use of vapid blog posts)

This is actually very informative.
(Irony ftw.)
(Irony ftw.)
@Chaos: liar.
@GOG: No. It just happened to be the number of downloads at the time of the blog post. Ironically (I hope that's the correct term), I am fast approaching 1000 downloads - the standard benchmark needed to post a true blog post of this celebratory nature.
@Nemo: What?
