The Elders brought us to Watermill Rock to escape the terror of Narsis following the Oblivion Crisis. Ten years past they set off on a journey to bring us treasure and comforts. They bade us take care of each other and respect the bounty of this island which is to be our new home. They charged me, the oldest, in particular ...

The turbuluent first century of the Fourth Era is almost at an end. A party of Bretons is striving in vain to turn the desolate military stopover of Gorrister into a legitimate city. The Gorrister miners have finally acted on their threats to organize against their incompetent lawbringers, threatening to plunge the nacent city into chaos. Into this town wanders Tallest-Reed, an old Saxhleel woman with only one ambition: to find Watermill Rock, the island of her youth, which seems to have vanished off the face of Nirn like a dream.

Scavenging for valuables, she finds an artefact that seems to bridge the past and present: an Aldmeri calendar wheel that once played a pivotal role in her youth. Could this be the object that finally leads her home?

An Elder Scrolls fan-game, featuring an improved battle and skill system, set shortly after the events of the Oblivion crisis, both in High Rock and on the enigmatic island of Watermill Rock.

^ Uhm...

Take water? I didn't take anything! D: Do I need a bucket or something? There currently doesn't seem to be anything to interact with in that area... I've hammered the space button in pretty much every spot on that map to see if I could trigger something. But it wouldn't surprise me if I somehow managed to miss the one spot that can be interacted with, I'm very good at missing that sort of thing (due to my mad skillz of the epic fail variety).

Meep~

Did you swim right up to the fountain? D:
Yup yup. Or at least, if this is what you mean;

I also tried it from the north side. It's not possible to try it from the south side, since that stone prevents you from swimming up to it from the south.

But yeah, checking that fountain from every possible direction is the first thing I tried when I found this place. It doesn't do anything. D:
I was able to take water from the fountain in the previous patch. Might've been broken by this one?

well actually, there has to be a flag set in order to get the water and it's set after Fen asks for it, but because stuff can happen in different ways I guess it sometimes doesn't get set. but that's probably pointless so I just got rid of the flag requirement in the latest download.

PS. Xerno get the latest download and the problem is fixed. But since you all ready beat it, no point I guess.
Ohh, the water is for Fen! I kept wondering "Why would I need water anyway?", but I totally forgot about that sidequest (sorry, Fen!).

Maybe there's no point now, but this should prove useful for future chapters (permanent stat-raising items can never be bad!).

xxxxx (ooo!).
I just had a horrible thought concerning the title.

Is Tallest Reed not just a name but part of an Argonian proverb? Like a "nail that sticks up gets hammered down" kind of thing?

Is the tallest reed is the one that breaks? D:

Thanks for the feedbacks. I'll probably wait a day to put up a new version since too many versions might be annoying.
Feedback

-Defeating the Netch does not remove its sprite from the underwater cave

-Encountering a boar by stepping forward as it's moving into your space can cause you to fight it twice immediately. I have also observed this with hellkites.

-Digging up the buried treasure in grass hill causes a game crash. Unable to find audio/se/129-earth01

-Reward counter sometimes vanishes from random encounter maps. It seems to happen after the first battle of the second or later encounter on a trip.
I've encountered another crash, but I think I know the cause already. Basically;

At some point in the story, you have to travel from the Shell Beach to the Arch Cave. The first time you do this, you will enter a beach area in between the Shell Beach and the Arch Cave. Nothing wrong here.

But now, near the end of the chapter (right before the "point of no return"), I was just randomly exploring and then, when moving from the Shell Beach to the Arch Cave again, I suddenly entered that "in-between beach area" again. First of all, I'm guessing this isn't supposed to happen, because I had moved from the Shell Beach to the Arch Cave a few times before without triggering this area.

Secondly, it leads to this lovely crash;

Now, I'm not 100% sure, but I think the area which causes the crash is where, on your first visit to this area, the cutscene with Vigil is triggered, no? Which is why I assume that you're not supposed to be able to revisit this area, as now triggering this cutscene a 2nd time with Vigil no longer there, might be what causes the crash?

Thanks for these reports, I'll try to put up a new version this evening.
Feedback v .15

-Boars nearly unkillable without specials. Raising specials raises MP cost. Raising MP cost high enough makes specials impossible to cast without deep reserves of items. I have backed myself into a corner made entirely of boars and awesome magics.

-Unequipping Virgil's fly rod causes a crash. Script 'Modifier_Weapon' line 27, runtime error. NO WEAPON? WHY NOT. Actor 5, weapon 0.

-Returning to the silver burrow in my no doubt entirely borked save causes Reed to march to the cave entrance, then stop there and gaze into space forever.

-Finding buried treasure does not remove soggy map item. Inventory clog.

-Vigil had access to immolate, but I had not gotten it yet. I raised flare to 3. Immolate disappeared. Firestorm appeared. I purchased firestorm. Immolate appeared.

-Treasure counter now reliably disappears in every random battle after the first on a trip.

-Where do I find that damn burglar crab? I went to the screen it ran to, but from there, nothing. Torchie's track doesn't even work on it.
Feedback continued

-Found the mudcrab, but there's no real indication that he went down a screen after running off. Maybe some sort of hint?

-Fen offers limitless woad to slather your stats with, so long as you have enough carob chunks or seagull plumes or whatever. Not sure if bug or feature, since the recipes are still very resource intensive, but being able to farm up your statline at the end of a chapter = whoah.

-Block pushing puzzle with key is nightmare difficulty. I completed it without lockpicking, but it would be nice to have maybe a treasure chest over there with the key or something, rather than more caterpillar-based punishment for your cleverness.

-Shouldn't the tree be "Darxie" instead of "Darkie" if it's Darxyll?

-Sky's wedding band has amythysts, but the sapphire that Reed unearthed in the chest is a sapphire in the inventory. And Reed calls it an amythyst when she hands it over.

-Sky and Reed's romance seems to kinda come out of nowhere. I'm not sure where it could be introduced earlier, but there's no real foreshadowing. If anything, I thought she was into Vigil.

-That said, holy crap. That storytelling. Tallest Reed GOTY 2015.

Well the thing with replacing older versions of spells with newer ones is a controversial design decision that assumes that even though the higher level spells are more costly, you're probably only ever going to use them once you learn them. Since one of the annoying things in RPGs is when you get swamped with all these choices and spells you've learned but you're never going to use, so it's hard to see at a glance what your real options actually are.

What do you mean by this?

He'll be either in the top left map at the bottom of the cliff, or on a small island on the bottom-right map, depending on which tree he came from. You'll be able to see the totem on him.

Oh lol you made your next comment before i finished writing this.
Maybe my gripe is more with how the cost scales, then. I agree with not having magic, magica, and magicagagaga all cluttering up your spell list, but those 3-rank abilities cost a way bigger share of my available mp, even at the end, than the 1-rank abilities did at the beginning. I expect this will be less of an issue when the random loot bug is fixed.

Which brings me to the other point. By treasure counter, I meant that little 0/2 box that shows up in the top right of random maps. First encounter on a trip, it's there. Every encounter after, it's not or it cuts out after a few seconds / the first battle. This was an existing bug, but I wanted to note that it seems to be doing this 0% of the time on the first encounter of a trip, and 100% of the time in subsequent encounters.

Random loot bug?

Sky's wedding band has amythysts, but the sapphire that Reed unearthed in the chest is a sapphire in the inventory. And Reed calls it an amythyst when she hands it over.
But but this has been fixed for many versions. Are you using latest version?

Re: Silver Cave. Looks like your save game is fudged because the map wasn't working right at first, without hacking at least. :( If you send it to me I can haxx0r and fix it for you, but might not matter at this point.
Random loot bug: the thing with the chest in the upper right corner disappearing. I need better words for things.

As for the sapphire, I think I was using the previous version when I got it out of the chest. So, maybe that's where the issue was.

The silver cave thing, unless I was supposed to get a plot-essential item from the event, I'm happy just to let it lie. I'll likely do another playthrough for chapter 1 when the prologue comes out, mostly to abuse the available stat buffs and be over-prepared for chapter 2.

Odd, the name of items comes right out of the database which gets updated with each version, it's not like the name Sapphire would be "saved" with your game or something.

Anyway thanks for all the comments, I didn't respond to them all individually obviously but I appreciate :). PS Vigil is friendzoned.
Oh. I found the problem.

Item is definitely listed as amethyst. The icon next to it is blue and the description says blue.

So my brain did this: red.
