A Screenshot of the character select screen, you will move the cursor around the map and select a stage. This type of image, with a picture of the boss, pops up before you select whether or not you want to enter that stage.

Yeah, man. Megaman X takes place in a very dark, industrialized future. I doubt there will be a lot of natural, colorful trees, dinky townhouses, and a stone castle.

I don't think it's at all dark, but it is an industrialized future. Just take a look at the maps in Mega Man X3 or so where you see a menu similar to this one.

I actually have made a similar map in RPG Maker when I was really bored years ago and it had all the faces AND the map in the middle. And you got info on the currently selected person.
